I was first invited by Joe Rivera a long time friend and Handball buddy 5 to yes or more ago. I tell you what I was very impressed how friendly kind the staff was Especially At that time Alma Samaniego sales representative she was very Professional very well dressed is what really made me decide too want too joined this Athletic club the Members were always ready too make me feel wanted.

A classy island of calm (or vigorous exercise, you choose) in the Middletown Downtown LA. I stayed as a hotel guest but was treated as a club members he whole time. By far and away the best hotel I’ve ever stayed at.

I had the pleasure of visiting the Los Angeles Athletic Club for the first time today. Everything about it was amazing. I had a nice breakfast and met your maitre d', Adrian. What a nice person he is. Every staff member here was so curteous and the entire experience magnificent! I highly recommmend this place and will be telling all of my out of town friends to stay here when they are in town. Thank you for a great morning Los Angeles Athletic Club.

The best value in Los Angeles! They have everything from weights to a running track to yoga studios and that glorious swimming pool! The 1912 building is magnificent. The restaurants are top notch and members can stay all day in the historic meeting rooms and get work done. Staff is always helpful and the other members are friendly. I’m so glad I joined!

This place is wonderful! The beds are not to soft or hard. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The food is great! We loved our stay thanks for making our trip amazing.

Hotel that stands out mainly for sports equipment: Olympic swimming pool, basketball court, gym and spa with luxury changing rooms. Breakfast was also great, including long, squeezed orange coffee, fresh fruit, croissants, as well as savoury foods (sausage sofas egg omelette potatoes and more). The hotel also has a terrace where you can admire some parts of downtown as well as a great restaurant for lunches or dinners where jazz concerts are often organized in the evenings. Rooms are good but nothing to look great compared to the rest of the hotel… The bathroom for example is from lower category hotels. However great room cleaning and friendly staff and helpful.
The only negative note is the unfortunately crowded area of bums and therefore in the evening is not quite the maximum walking around the neighborhood… No one bothered me but it feels insecure.

Gorgeous old building. In love with the logo. Unfortunately I had no idea where my money was going. The gym setting is lovely but the machines are old the carpet has stains, etc… This all speaks to their general attitude towards you as a member — — they couldn't care less. Everything they do to update the gym is perfunctory and late. Their food at the restaurant isn't made like anyone in the kitchen wants to eat it. They're also not open during typical hours. The staff is nice but there's no sense of hospitality — and there's a high turnover which doesn't speak well of their employers. The women's locker room was "about to be renovated" for years. The mens room was renovated without hesitation. There was no sense of community that the place provided other than half hearted attempts at a jazz night or other embarrassing senior folks home type events. Should you leave the gym as a member, they will not let you return as a guest (even if you want to pay for a day pass) — they're spiteful. Like, who controls this place? Robots from the 70s? They may have been cool for once being inclusive (circa the 1900s) but now they just seem soulless and shoddy. New management please! Dying for this to be taken over by someone with a true vision to restore this place to grandeur.

First impressions :: this place is special! Since our schedules don’t allow for a weekday workday visit, the membership team invited us to a self-guided tour over the weekend. While wandering around, the athletic director stopped us to see if we had any questions. We really felt welcomed. The club is amazing, people. The exercise studios, courts, and other spaces are quirky and intimate. Everything you could possibly need is available. The email indoor pool is gorgeous and inviting. The boxing studio was my favorite spot. The women’s locker room/spa area is absolutely luxurious. And the rest of the club is warm, comfortable, and relaxing. I can see this becoming a home away from home. Yeah, it’s pricey. Can’t pretend otherwise. But I think we’re gonna join the club membership.

LAAC is now so much better than a few years ago! I was a member here until about 5 years ago when it was dilapidated, in a sorry state: the jacuzzi in the men's side was not working and the lockers were gross. Now, the lockers are new and the jacuzzi is hot with strong jets. Some of the older workers were still there, and they actually remembered us. My only suggestion is to get better towels because they can easily replace sand papers.

Best breakfast. Nice clean rooms. Best night sleep ever on the most comfortable bed. Will definitely stay again.

This place was absolutely wonderful to stay! The staff was absolutely amazing and so willing to help. Our room key stopped working so we used the hall phone to call down to the front desk and they sent someone up with new keys! The brakefast was also absolutely amazing and in and amazing restaurant atmosphere. This place was extreamly elegant and was a joy to be there! They upper deck looked over downtown L. A. Which was amazing at night! We spent a lot of our time up there just enjoying the view. I would most definitely stay here again and recommend this hotel to others you will not be disappointed!

Love this place. They marry contemporary needs with classic architecture. Great staff, enjoyable food and drink. Well maintained with beautiful public spaces. Overnight guests get workout privileges.

My son is a member and took me for the Mother’s Day brunch. It was wonderful and had so many variety of delicious things to eat, such as seafood, crab legs, oysters, fish, wonderful brunch items and an array of deserts. I highly recommend it, the service was outstanding as well.

I can't speak for the entire facility because I only explored the space we used for a networking mixer. It appears to be historic looking inside with lovely views of downtown. The room we used worked perfect for the event. The building has character and I'd definitely would attend a future event here. They have garage parking on Olive St (you could easily pass it if you weren't paying attention) or pay a flat rate of $8 across the street at a lot.

Great stay at a historic hotel with great decor and amenities at a good price. What could be better? Rooms were adequate, bed was comfortable, complimentary breakfast was top notch. Wish I could have visited the gym and the pool which both looked awesome. Would definitely book again.

Comfortable hotel in the heart of downtown LA. Only breakfast is disappointing by its lack of diversity.

Good location for downtown, but far from anything you might actually want to do or see in Los Angeles. It's a classic hotel with an old Hollywood feel. Breakfast is above average. Views are minimal. Some staff are wonderful such as Ernie and BK, others, sour and unhelpful. Awesome gym facilities (as to be expected)

This is my home away from home when I’m in Los Angeles, which is a lot given my work. The staff is chill, hip, and overall very attentive. The rooms are really well put together. They have that old school charm with new school comforts like STUPID comfortable beds. I would come back just for the beds. Not gonna lie. I am also a member of the fitness club which has to be the best workout experience downtown LA. The only downside is downtown is a dump, but that’s not LAAC’s fault. In fact, they are a beacon fabulous amidst the madness of those nasty streets.

Stayed one night at Hotel. Amazing facilities, bars, restaurants. Great staff — Always friendly and helpful. Spa and Gym facilities (for Men) are incredible. Would have given a perfect 5 stars except the Spa facilities for women did not compare to the standard of the men's by some way when discussing with my girlfriend.

This hotel was the first time I thought to myself that if I come back to this city, I would definitely look at this hotel first to try and come back here. You basically stay in a private member's club/private club where you get all the frills and service of the private member's club. The rooms are quiet, clean and comfortable. And there is an awesome pool. Perhaps, they could do with some modernisation, but great for what I needed. I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends.

New staff sucks. I love all the old staff. It makes the place more enjoyable and flow better. I spoke to this blonde woman close to olive for assistance and she was extremely arrogant and rude. Plus she had no right to. She was a bimbo. I have no idea how she acquired that job.

Had a great time staying here for a week. Awesome indoor swimming pool. Clean rooms. Courteous staff. Near subway station, shopping, dining and entertainment.

Fantastic gym with great amenities, including dining, events, spa treatments and member perks. Beautiful pool and in the process of being renovated. Staff are wonderful and there's never a wait for equipment. The basketball court is great and the indoor running track. Is getting a full overhaul. Excellent DTLA location.

High-end GYM, social club and great hotel. Great service! Make sure to research dress code if you want to eat there. I would give 6 stars if I could. Love working out here!

I came as a guest/ membership trial. Initiation fee are a steep. Monthly fees are comparable to that of equinox. The actual gym facilities are out dated and need some love, especially in comparison to the renovated locker and spa areas. Top notch. After my trial no one bothered to follow up with joining. The perks that come with the club are nice, but I'm not personally familiar with them, only with what I've read through their site.

Wow, what a wonderful hidden gem right in the heart of downtown LA. We weren't sure what to expect, but this is such a beautiful, historic location. Even though they are experiencing extensive renovations they were still able to provide clean, comfortable and stylishly decorated accommodations. It should go without saying that they have an amazing fitness facility and pool. We highly recommend this facility and can't wait to return for our next visit.

Well located hotel in downtown LA. Good fitness facilities and buffet breakfast. We were in the cheapest room which was a bit small compared to other US hotel rooms but it was clean and comfortable.

Was here for a work event. Thought it was a cool place with a lot of history; it opened in 1880! The staff was excellent and the entire venue was nice. Parking is expensive even with validation. Opted out of the club lunch and ate around the corner; there are a lot of option.

Nice club, expensive food. Very old school feel with great architecture. Felt like I was in one of the grand old buildings back at the East Coast with the wood paneling and detailed architectural features.

Note: I didn't actually use the gym at all here. I attended a small banquet for Elementary School creative writing. But this place is bougie as it comes, and I mean that in a good way. If you can afford this place, you're either delusional or doing something right in your life… so kudos to you. The parking probably never runs out and is only either $2 or $3 for members which isn't bad for downtown LA. The facilities have this beautiful old school feel, which looks incredibly luxurious. It's straight out of a 1930's flapper convention, I felt classy by association. That's all I can really talk about it, but what I saw I was really impressed.

Stopped by after a friend's wedding and the stay was pleasant. All of the staff were friendly and made us feel welcome.

I didn't get to use any of the services, just touring around the facilities, but it looked very well run and clean. Lots of dark wood on the interiors, and almost reeked of old money. Pretty cool, if you're into that kind of thing.

3 stars: Parking for $20, 000 a day. However, as a hotel guest, you can — and go out as often as you like.
2 stars: Breakfast. On the level of German Under — and middle class hotels (eggs, bacon, French toast, fruit) with frugal service.
1 star: Hygiene and the "trainers" in the gym. The taking off of the jogging shoes in the squat stand was banned by the "Tainer, " who was otherwise busy with his smartphone. Almost all customers drank directly with their mouths at the water dispenser instead of using a bottle. No "coach" present said anything about that.
Location: Downtown. By car, a real test of patience. 60 min to Venice Beach. 60 min to Long Beach. 45 min from Griffith Observatory. Every professional transport.
At $750million for three nights, the bid is absolutely bad.

Went for a weekend getaway and the room was amazing. Having a gym rat for a hubby made this the best surprise for him. The gym was top notch!

This place had had my attention for quite awhile. I finally got to the chance to stay here for my anniversary in May, and it lived up to expectations. The rooms were clean and as amazing as they look in the pictures. It's not an "affordable" option but if you want a place that's the definition of "classy", this is it. A great bar, facilities, and a free breakfast buffet per guest, per day make this a great choice in DTLA.

Location is perfect and walking distance to everything. My first trip to Los Angeles and thr best decisiom I made was staying here. Hotel is classic and the service could not be any better. Food is delicious and the staff absolutely pampers you. You will not be disappointed. A must hotel stay if you are visiting.

I stayed overnight as a guest over Memorial Day weekend. I booked the hotel through hotwire and the total was about 140, the parking was 20 a night with in and out access. My friend and I loved this place because we were able to park our car and go to the MOCA, the Broad, Sugarfish and Bottega Louie. I recommend it!

The decor is awesome, the service and staff are friendly, the location is pretty good for walking around the city, and the room is cozy. Can't ask for much more.

With the latest and ongoing renovations at the LAAC, this is a great spot for events or a staycation with friends or family. Beautiful rooms, bar, athletic facilities, and great food.

Good drinks and atmosphere. Once you get inside it's a little tricky to figure out where to go, there isn't any signage.

Very unique place to stay! There are only three floors of rooms at the very top of the building. The other floors have restaurants, meeting rooms and an athletic club. For being in the heart of Los Angeles, the hotel room was very quiet at all times of the day. The building also has a lot of history. For example, Charlie Chaplin lived off and on there from 1915 to 1930.

The room was nice enough and they mixed the old with the new when it came to styling. Parking was only $20 a night with in and out access which isn't bad for downtown. They also offer a complementary shuttle service for the downtown area. Breakfast is included and the available hours were fairly long. Staying there also gives you access to the athletic facilities. Judging on the free weight equipment I used it was a bit old but in good enough condition. The weight of the weights available were heavy enough to get in a workout but there could be more weights and the free weight area was a bit cramped. A major inconvenience though was related to elevator maintenance. There are 4 shafts but there was only one working elevator. And it seemed like it was an ongoing issue.

I had requested that the President, Cory, talk to me about the WORST incident concerning JOINING LAAC AS AN ATHENA. First, they had told me the audition would be in the Summer. I waited several months then finally was told when I sang, only 3 spots were open and 4 auditioned. Ms. Jolley, a former retired teacher and HR person of LAUSD stated she "didn't think I would be able to attend the rehearsals on Tuesday nights" only because I told her I was doing an acting job one night, which I cancelled to attend the audition. To add insult to injury, she stated I had a good singing voice then invited me to the Rehearsal with the entire group in September, only to be told there was no space for me. I was given NO REASON and I know I can sing really well. I like the staff here, the front desk are nice to me, from the guys at the front to the older lady. Even the ladies at the Women's Locker Room are friendly and treat me well. I don't complain about them. I complained about the process of being an Athena. Their decision on the part of Ms. Jolley was arbitrary and unfair. They know I am a regular gym member. Perhaps she has something against me because most of the women in the group are older and I feel there may be some age discrimination going on. When I spoke to Mr. Cory, I even told him about this problem BLATANTLY only to be told I would have to pay $170/month and $500 to reinstate. No wonder why a lot of older members have left this gym.

Luxury, but comfortable, beautiful property! Walking around the hotel is a trip back in time! Rooms, ballroom, rooftop, breakfast, all my favorite! The staff was welcoming and helpful. Thank you!

I'm currently staying here and this place sucks so far. There are blackout windows in which room service doesn't serve, it is $20 a day for parking, and overall completely overpriced. This will be the last time I stay here. *ADDITIONALLY* How is this a hotel designed around fitness and the gym isn't 24/7 and it only opens after 8am?!

This last Thanksgiving, I booked 7 of the 8 suites for my family. The rooms are beautiful, quiet and spacious. It was so nice to grab a drink with the family in the bar or meet one of them in the Yoga class in the morning while 2 others swam in the pool and the rest went to Botegga Louis for breakfast. The advantage of this hotel is that it comes with a true athletic club attached! A huge indoor pool, a basketball court, a roof for sunning or just viewing the city, a staff of remarkable trainers and a rich Hollywood history. The classes you can take are state of the art with instructors that are informed on the subject they are teaching. Most are included in the hotel stay. My personal favorite is the Hip Hop class. The hotel is located in the middle of the "new" DTLA. The area has fantastic restaurants, you can walk to anytime of the day or night. If you aren't familiar with the exciting restaurant scene that surrounds the club, ask the concierges at the front desk. They took the best care of my family while I prepared and cooked the Thanksgiving dinner. My family tagged this as one of the "Best Thanksgivings Ever". They range in age from 82 to 16 and everyone of them (12 in all) loved their stay at the Los Angeles Athletic Club.

I can only talk about the conference room and bar when I attended an event here. It is definitely the fancier of the gyms with its multiple conference/ball rooms, actual hotel rooms, and fully stocked bar. Parking can be tough/expensive in this area but that's anywhere in downtown. I loved the interior of the ballroom with its wooden panels everywhere. It felt like old school class.

Good location. Close to metro and restaurants. Room is spacious and comfortable. Good Wi-Fi.

As a whole, the concept is great with a lot of amenities. When you look at the details you'll notice a lot of the functional items are worn and dated. The men's locker area is just run down. Chipped tile in the sauna rooms. Gloomy. Needs a major restoration. It's sad because it has a lot of potential, but I liken it to a good looking suit with a bunch of loose threads, misaligned pinstripes, and stains here and there. LAAC put aside about $200k and tighten up the details. It'll make a difference.

WOW-what a place. The rooms are well appointed. There is a lot of parking and the price is reasonable ($12 per day). The resterraunt and bar and very good. Plus all the athletic stuff (Olympic sized pool, basketball/vball court. Squash courts, handball/raquetball courts, spinning classes, etc, etc). I love staying here and the price is right.

As an Athletic Club member, I can only say that this is the finest of the fine. It is elegant without being stuffy and has a staff that are generally more than just friendly-though on occasion the front door staff does seem a bit 'taken aback' by my garb. I suppose it's the proximity to the street life which make LA so 'interesting. ' And unlike Memphis, for example, I HAVE NEVER had a moment of fear or trepidation about traversing the streets of downtown LA and heading to the Club for a workout, social event or fabulous food.
