Review of DoubleTree 4*

To start when calling to make sure the room would be ready by 3pm whoever answered the phone was extremely rude. I simply was just asking to make sure it would be ready due to coming from LA and having to wait over an hour to check in because the room simply was not ready. We were rushed for time because we were running late to a rehearsal dinner for a wedding. We also had asked for a fridge which was not delivered and had to ask 2 more times to actually get one. We were traveling with an infant so having the fridge was very important for keeping milk cold. Also had to ask for a microwave for sterilization purposes (we got this right away). The day we arrived I called 2 times for the maid to come to the room to simply just change the sheets and wanted her to do it in front of us but by the time she got to the room we had to leave. She didn’t understand English at all and when I simply stated “please just change the sheets nothing else” she just nodded ok like she understood. When we got back to the room the sheets were 100% not changed. There were black marks on the pillow cases and sheets looked like there was makeup from someone who had been there before us. We got in very late from the rehearsal since it was all the way in laguna beach and couldn’t change the sheets with a sleeping Infant and being exhausted. Had to sleep in a dirty bed, nasty. The shower head hit my head and I’m only 5’6 I don’t know how anyone who is tall can shower in this shower. Overall this place is very run down. It’s old, dirty, and needs a revamp. The breakfast is NOT complementary as it says online that it is. The people are half rude half nice. The cleaning staff doesn’t understand English and do not change the sheets. The rooms do not come standard with a fridge or microwave. Out of all the double trees I have stay in this one is by far the worst. Would not stay here again and would not recommend it to anyone. The lady at the front says they are rated 4 stars and have held that rating for being clean and having a friendly hotel staff… clearly she has never walked into any other double tree and or the double tree down in Mission Valley off of the 163. That is a 4 star double tree not this one.
