Review of Best Western Plus Stovall's Inn 2*

First time at this hotel. We have passes so we go constantly. The room was nice, no complaints there. The lobby was FREEZING! I asked the staff and they said the manager insisted on keeping it that cold. What, are we from the North Pole? Seriously it was probably 40 degrees in there! I arrived at 11pm in December and it was warmer outside! So the rooms were nice but the food was totally DISGUSTING! The eggs were so watery that there was at least a half inch of water collecting at the bottom of the pan, which was scooped onto your plate with the eggs. The "waffles" if that's what you can call them were so soggy they were ripping when you tried to pick them up with the tongs. I put them in the toaster hoping that would help but they turned to rubber. Hmmm. What kind of batter must this be if toasting it turns it to rubber? The bacon smelled (like old meat). The orange juice was 90% water. The donuts were so old the outer layer was falling off and when you tried to get it with a tong they kept falling apart. I don't know what possessed me to take a bite but God help me I did. I almost threw up. The best thing about the "breakfast" was the packaged yogurt that they ran out of completely, the bananas, and the packaged peanut butter. You have to spend a little more on food and food safety. Tables were filthy too but that's because the staff had to compensate for the crappy food. I saw a female staff person taking food (the old donuts included) and putting them BACK in containers to use again! I saw people using their HANDS in there (and the waffles, and the bread, and the muffins) to get food because the tongs ripped things to shreds. How much bacteria and germs do you think the food has now? EW! The one thing I would say is that there was an older gentleman working and he was trying so hard to keep up with everyone being grossed out and also trying to keep the tables clean. He was working very hard and was a nice man. I think the horrible food quality has more to do with the messy tables than this guy trying to keep them clean. If your staff is so busy fielding complaints about food, they CAN'T CLEAN! Fortunately they had cereal so I had a PB&J sandwich, a banana, and raisin bran for breakfast. Not what I was expecting and did NOT last as a nice, full meal before Disneyland. Two stars because the room was nice but the food was disgusting. Never again unless they get better quality food! Maybe it's the manager who wants it icy in the lobby and pinches pennies on food so he can spend it on A/C.
