First, I stayed Saturday 10/17/15 and checked out 10/18/15 at the Quality Inn, 1100 W. Rex Allen Dr, Willcox, AZ. This hotel was the supposed preferred hotel for the State Dog Competition. I found it to be more of a seedy flea-bag motel. First, you should know that I booked my room well in advanced on 9/30, my confirmation # was 423577671. I called twice to confirm my reservation and to request a bottom floor room, non-smoking room far from any of the smoking rooms as I have problems with cigarette smoke. When I arrived, I was told that my room wasn't ready, I was about an hour early. I said, I could wait, but the manager, Shane, said that he had another room on the 2nd floor available. I decided to take it. So we lugged all of our luggage up the stairs (no elevator-I have bad knees) only to find out that our room key didn't work. So back down to the front desk we went. The manager re-programmed the keys and walked us to the room and opened the door (room 243). We were going to rest some before we had to head out again, but upon pulling back the bed covers I discovered bugs. Some dead, some alive, some skeletons, and the most disgusting of all, larvae. I scooped some of them into a cup, collected all of our things and went back to front desk. The lady there apologized and said that the rooms had been closed up for awhile so no one had checked them. But come on, LARVAE? So I told her I would wait for a clean room. The manager came and asked what the problem was and she told him. He guaranteed me that he would get a clean room ready for me and that he would personally check it himself. By this time, we needed to head to our next activity as it had been a 1/2 hour since we were trying to get into a room. So we went off, did our thing and returned to the promised clean room (room 136) at 5:00pm. Upon arriving into the room we discovered numerous stains on the carpet and chipped drywall. When we pulled back the bed covers we discovered what looked like semen stains on one bed and then on the other bed there were brown stains on the sheets. I called the front desk and requested clean sheets. I will be honest with you, the floors were so gross that we took the blankets off the bed and put them down on the floor so that we could walk on them. After about 30 minutes, housekeeping came and asked what the problem was. I handed her the brown stained sheets and she said the other sheets were burnt in the dryer and that it wasn't what I thought it was. Finally, 15 minutes later she came back with more sheets. We were now late for our next event so we made the bed (we only received sheets for one) and rushed out. We spent the night fighting with ill fitting bed sheets that kept coming undone, they were simply too small. I woke up often to the noise of the traffic and itching the bug bites I was sustaining. When we woke up in the morning we quickly packed our bags, cleaned up our "rugs" and took showers to wash away the seedy motel feeling. We simply couldn't check out fast enough. You might ask yourselves, why did they stay there? Well, not only was the state dog competition happening in this town, but at the same time, there was a wine festival and that meant that hotels were at max capacity. There simply was no where for us to stay. I tried, we were stuck. You might also ask yourselves, did they tell the manager? Yep, remember, he guaranteed us a clean room. What he really did was give us the worst of the worst rooms. You should also know that I am not the only person who had bugs in their room. A few others in our group also said they had bugs, not in their beds, but on the floor. In addition, there was a room, Kiva Room, that the competition utilized that was about as gross as our room. The chairs were filthy, the tables were chipped, stripped and there were cockroaches in the lights. This is more of a flea-bag seedy motel than that of a Choice Hotel. I will never stay here again. I filed this complaint with Choice Hotels also and they reviewed this hotel and are removing it from their line.
