My second time in Chiang Mai I decided to stay in a different part of town from the typical backpacker scene. I was looking for places online and stubbled upon 2230. Usually I'm skeptical about booking a place in advance, but am super glad I chose 2230. The area is the best in Chiang Mai in my opinion. Close to the Uni so it's where a lot of students hang out. Really cool cafes, shops and bars, and is easy to hop on transit to get wherever you want to go. The owner, Woody, is extremely helpful and great to hang out with. Next time I'm in Thailand I'm definitely staying here.

The best hostel in Chiang Mai without a doubt! Central, smack right on Nimmanheimen next to all the best food, the best bars, and a 5 minute walk to Maya mall.
