Review of Barn & Bed Hostel

Let me start by saying I love B&B Hostel with great location, excellent, warm and intelligent staff (no questions unanswered) unbeatable location on the corner of the BTS Sky Train and two Steps away from one of BKK's signature malls, 7-11, food galore etc etc. Unbeatable. Simple, delicious sandwich-breakfast with 3-in-one instant coffee was not a deal-breaker for me since I stayed 2 nights and then 2 days again. For a longer stay many will think this offering a bit limited and I agree. Again, the preceding observations trump that weakness hands down in my view. Great hygiene and cool wooden inlay decor motif gives it a very hip and countryside feel. It's a tiny hostel frequented a lot by Japanese and Korean tourists which tells me it's got a reputation for being safe and slighty up-market in its sector. The calibre of customers also tells me that any lowlife idiot who wanders in wont last more than one night since this is a peaceful space for decent human beings. Taxi from Sukhumvit to either airport is never going to be far away from 350 Baht at 4am in the morning and I felt fine dropping 500 for a service that picks me up at the door punctualy without any B. S. And aggravation. I know this city well and for 5 dollars extra I can avoid the lottery of rude or rip-off drivers at 4am when I'm feeling happy and peaceful. Yes, you're right! If my flight is at any time 2 hours after the Sky Train opens I'll blank the taxi and be at my airport no worries for total Sky Train and Rail Link cost of under 100. In that case 400 Baht extra represents a banquet breakfast and a new T — Shirt in the departure zone at the airport. Why 4 stars and not 5? Lockers, lockers, lockers! This place has it in spades and it's beyond me why that obvious master stroke is absent. No matter how great or safe a place is reputed to be, no visitors feels at ease having their baggage un-secured. It's a petit hostel but with some intelligent engineering. Voilà… 5 stars and everybody's singing in the rain! 15 bucks a night is a decent bill for a decent human being's kind of joint.
