What a nice stay in Zanzibar! The hotel is superb, the rooms spacious and very clean. The atmosphere is relaxed and calm. The excellent buffet, with different dishes each evening. We spent a great week. The staff is very caring and the staff ready to answer all of our requests. The hotel is located on the beachfront, next to the village of Matemwe. In short … hakuna matata.

Most friendly staff in the world. They also taught us some new words like Jambo; Hakuna Matata; Asante Sana; Karibu and Mambo The spacious rooms were a pleasant surprise. The intimate and relaxing atmosphere of Kena Beach Hotel was perfect and so the way they keep the beach clean. We became like one big family and made new friends! No request was ever to big for the staff and management and I will never forget you wonderful people! Best holiday of my life and I love you all! May God bless you.

Would go back in a heartbeat. Beautiful and very comfortable accommadation. Really loved the food and service was outstanding.

Lovely gracious hotel. Clean and spacious, needs a little TLC but is closing for renovations soon. Without a doubt, its biggest asset is its staff. Absolutely lovely people that really go out of their way to ensure you have a lovely stay. We were on all inclusive package so three lovely, different and interesting meals and free local drinks and beverages. Can't really swim in sea directly in front of hotel because of urchin-infested reef, but walk or bike a few Kms away and you're sorted. Super spa and full PADI dive centre. Not in thick of tourist area, makes for a really relaxing holiday.

Wi-Fi signal is only good near reception desk, water is soapy. It would be better to put more chests of drawers. Besides, everything is fantastic!

What a lovely boutique resort in Matemwe, Zanzibar. Beautiful air conditioned rooms, each with a private patio. Excellent, friendly service from staff who all speak English, and the most delicious food. Perfect romantic getaway, right on the beach. I'd go back in a heartbeat…

Fantastic part of paradise …, BUT! Service is superb, food is delicious, staff are friendly and everything is just fantastic except for the place is looking weathered. I don’t want to pick the negatives but things like tap fittings are rusty, shower fittings are worn, wooden sun chairs are old, our room door only closes with the key lock being switched. The thatch on the roofs looks terrible and even the pool towels are old and look like rags. I tend to look past these small issues but there are to many to miss here and it’s of real concern. If these issues don’t bother you then you will love the place.

The hotel is situated on the south coast of Zanzibar. The beach is fantastic. Is a bit far from the night life (that is on the north cost) so it is very quiet and relaxing. Stuff is super kind and always there to help.

Quiet boutique resort with Tidal beach meaning swimming is only available on high tide. Stunning beach. Really friendly staff and good food. Lacking in entertainment such as board games. Beach ball … not much for teens to do so bring your own. Set in remote location perfect for honeymooners.

This hotel is lovely, with very pretty rooms, but some parts of it could do with some maintenance. The staff are friendly and helpful, but can be quite slow. The food was unfortunately not very good. I have seen many reviews praising the food, which is something I don't understand. They try to be fancy with things like ceviche fish, and creme brule, but I feel like the cooks lack the technique to pull these off. The creme brule was basically scrambled egg, and the ceviche seemed pre cooked and was over seasoned. Taking this into account, the cost of the food is definitely a bit high. We ate at a few other hotels during our stay offering much nicer food at up to $5 less. The beach at this hotel features a reef which is wonderful for diving and snorkeling, but is not ideal for swimming. If you are looking for a swimming beach at your doorstep, Kendwa or Nungwi beach may be better suited. The pool is lovely and dining area is very pretty. Overall, a good experience, but maybe a bit expensive for what you get.

Very nice place to stay at. Great food, nice rooms and friendly staff. Amazing open main house with a a unique pool. Close to the main dyving are on Zanzibar. Highly recommended for families.
