This Hotel has views to die for, lovely clean rooms, has everything you need down to an umberella for a rainy day. I have stayed twice and have booked for next year already. Lovely helpful staff and very friendly. Situated in beautiful quiet area.

I should give only one star. But the view is very nice and the room is big. But that’s all. The service in the hotel is very rude. They choice for breakfast was little and the coffee tasted burned. I asked for an espresso, but only filter coffee is included, so the service brought me the same filter coffee-just in a espresso cup. The pool is in a different building and nowhere is written, how to get there — a very nice housekeeping lady had to bring us there. I am really disappointed and the hotel is definitely not worthy of 4 stars.

A hotel in an idyllic location. Very stately and well decorated. However, there are plants to be reformed and some parts are somewhat outdated.
It has a restaurant, gym, spa and other special services.

The hotel itself is outdated and is in needs refurbishment. Airco units on the on the balcony are noisy. The room are clean, roomsize is ok, beds are ok. The included breakfast is very minimal.

Unbelievable views of the mountains & Lake Leman. Very beautiful lobby & restaurant. Old world charm Front desk staff are professional & very knowledgeable. I highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel is at the lake directly at montreux. I have to say that the location is very nice and there is a stunning view over the lake. We booked a double room for 260 CHF per night. Breakfast is extra 25 CHF. Even though the view is nice, the hotel is definitely not worth the price. The tools are very very old and have a bit of a stinky smell. The pool is very old as well and belongs to some clinics. I wonder who allows such bathrooms in a hotel. Bring your flip flops. I have avoided the shower!

Good location, we had a room with direct access to garden / lake and there is access to the lake. Unfortunately the room had an unpleasant smell. Also the floors are carpet.

We stayed two nights at this lakeside hotel. The location is great for exploring the surroundings of Montreux as well.
We enjoyed the pool and the garden on the lake where to sunbathe.
From a 4star we would have expected a more complete courtesy service in the room (like sponge cobblers). Even the pool-level snack bar was not provided except for drinks: we would gladly eat something there.
All in all the service was very courteous. On the last day we were allowed to take advantage of the pool area for a few hours after checking out. I would definitely recommend it.

Hotel quiet and well located. Friendly and friendly staff. Beautiful view of the lake. However the rooms especially the bathroom need a good refreshment. The bathroom is very 'hospital'. Nice décor at the reception and at the salons. Lunch is not worthy of a 4 star. Free pool but water a little cold.

I am a sucker for old classy hotels; especially in Montreux. And in fact, I like it even better when everything is not too polished and the hotel shows its age. And that is definitely the case with this hotel. It has character which goes slightly at the cost of comfort. The rooms are nice with great views of the lake and the waterfront of Montreux. However they are not the most modern rooms. Bathroom was specious and comfortable. Access to the pool or sauna requires quite a long underground walk through a long hallway. Alternatively you could access it through the garden. The pool is very big in contrast to the very small sauna. But again, both show their age and the whole wellness area is not spick and span. Breakfast was very good with a magnificent view of the lake from the breakfast room and nice classy interior. Parking can be a challenge. There are a few reserved parking spaces near the entrance but they are quite costly. Alternatively, the hotel can give you a ticket for one of the public parking spaces on the street (CHF 10 a day) but they fill up quickly.

Great lake side view, and friendly staff. There was a bit of noise from the other rooms though, due to thin walls.

I chose this hotel for its location and pool. But the pool was not available on Thursday and the unwarmed water therefore cold and deterrent on Fridays.

Just went recently. I must say my friends and I were not satisfied of their service and the staffs aren't very helpful at all. I do not recommend this hotel.

The stay is very good unwind, the staff is very nice, we spent a wonderful week, the room, the breakfast, the view of the lake, the quiet. Thank you to all the members of the hotel.

We stayed one night at the Excelsior, with the idea to enjoy the spa/pool and a nice breakfast in bed the next morning. Unfortunately the hotel did not deliver as expected. The spa facilities (steam bath/sauna) did not work and was, in any case, very small. In order to access the spa/swimming pool area, one had to take long cold corridors — not ideal on the way back if one wants to walk back to their bedroom without having to change in dry clothes. The bedroom itself was very spacious, but needed serious refurbishments (to note, some rooms have been refurbished already). Whilst we visited in the winter and did not enjoy the balcony much, the huge aircon machine on the bare concrete floor was hideous and would definitely not make this a cosy spot to enjoy the view in warmer seasons. Furthermore, the breakfast delivered in the bedroom was poor: three small pieces of bread per person and some orange juice which obviously came from concentrate. This was far behind the standard of a 4 star hotel, let alone any hotels in Montreux. As a final note, there are no dedicated parking spots available — this will be an issue in the high season. Location of the hotel okay, but not central — a good 20min required to get to the nicer, more central area of Montreux.

Not even worth a 2 star absolutely decadence room totally dilapidated staff A7 breakfast incompetent and Ki speak in Portuguese you serve an industrial canteen coffee to not have to wash the coffee machine a breakfast in 21FRS with the minimum Really really bad to review a can some things for a 4 star.

Good location on edge of Montreaux. Beautiful views of the lake. Nice hotel areas and facilities. Rooms slightly dated, but spacious. Very helpful and freindly staff.

The rooms are average and the pool is cold. On the other hand the reception lounge/restaurant are very beautiful. All rooms also overlook the lake and the view is beautiful.

I was only one night, the entrance not too easy with the suitcases, but then you understand that has undergone a few renovations. It tastes like an old and elegant lady who wax to keep up with the times. The modern lift contrasts the antique furnishings of the corridors and doors and fixtures of 50 years ago.
The view from the room was gorgeous, right on the lake. The proper breakfast, unique sin the Wi-Fi that was connected to each use (change it! ).
At the reception the girl was nice and helpful, she even gave me a bus ticket to be able to bring me downtown.
I will definitely be back for more days… if the price is right.

Beautiful classical hotel overlooking the marvellous Lake Leman. Wonderful to have stayed here and contemplated for hours the fabulous views from the balconies. Loved it.

Stayed for one night, wished we could have stayed longer. Very clean, awesome staff and the it has a million dollar view. Would recommend to anyone.

The whole place needs refurbishment, the personal is unfriendly as possible, the rooms and furniture are dirty, disgusting carpet, showers with no water pressure, food expensive and not good, stinking hammam and icy cold swimming-pool. The view is nice though not worth the price.

The hotel is very nice. I had a suite with garden and a lake view. Very quite.

I stayed at this hotel recently for one night 11th August with my husband and sister. The location is beautiful with beautiful views of the lake. We liked the spacious room and bathrooms. One of the bathrooms did have some mould, other than that it was good. We had to wait one hour to check-in. We arrived quite tired and were hoping to get refreshed and go out quickly. We complained to the staff at reception and one of the staff was not very pleasant about it. Hotels should make an effort to make sure rooms are ready on time, especially when you pay so much for a night. There is no complimentary tea/coffee nor a bottle of water offered by the hotel. Other hotels in Switzerland offered free breakfast/water even though we paid almost half the price. That was disappointing. Overall it was a nice hotel. Needs to improve in the areas mentioned in my review.

Hotel can be a little aging but the view from the lake side rooms is incomparable.

Impresive place, with tones of history. Great Lake view (cost minimum extra 300€/week). Breakfast is not that spectacular, for example coffee really poor. Free parking is more then limited 4-6 cars. The Surroundings are beautiful. Refurbishment for the bathrooms would be welcomed. Updated after 4 days: The swimming pool is really great. Unfortunately also the negative points are cumulating: Breakfast really poor, every day same stuff and this under well know ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ Hotels. Also the discipline or let say the respect to the sleep of the others (know we have 23:18 and room 515 give a s… about respect to other willingness or need for sleep) so slowly we start questioning where we landed.

A beautiful place and an amazing view of Lake Leman and the Alps.

The hotel stays right on the shore of the lake. In good spring weather the flowers of the garden offer a magnificent view against the blue water. You also have a gorgeous sight from the large indoor swimming pool.

We really enjoyed our stay. The hotel was beautiful and well-located, and the view was perfect. The route to the pool was hard to understand (read: crazy), and the entire hotel's relationship with "Biotonus" was strange. It was unnerving to pass a doctor in the hall chatting with her patient about his cough. In addition, I was disappointed to find out that the sauna and steam-rooms were gender specific, so my wife and I couldn't sauna together. This was not mentioned in the descriptions. Despite the quirks, I would stay again at the off-season price. At full price, I would look elsewhere.

I loved my stay there. My room had an amazingly stunning view of Lake Geneva and had very delicious food there. Would recommend it for anyone visiting Montreux!

The view was beautiful and breakfast was lovely. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Needs serious update / renovation. Only thing going for it is great view of Lake Geneva and super easy to walk to the lake. Rooms and property have old musty, stained carpet. Stained wallpaper in room, some moldy spots in bathroom and not enough outlets. Hotel also oddly shares space with a medical clinic and I saw a doctor visit a patient in a room a few doors down from me. No free breakfast when 5 other properties I've stayed at in Switzerland all offer free breakfast.

I booked a room for my daughter and her friend for June 25. Besides cleanliness and a safe location, my top priority was free breakfast — important for a couple of college students. Using Expedia, I grabbed the last standard double room with breakfast included. However, when the confirmation email came through, it quoted breakfast as $25 USD — each! I was on the phone with Expedia 3 times during which time they contacted the Hotel. The hotel would not budge on the included breakfast nor allow me out of the reservation. So if booking here, take a screen shot of the amenities provided BEFORE booking. Then you will have proof that they are not honoring their advertised price and can deny payment through your Visa or Master Card.
