Reviews of Sun & Moon Hostel
Horrible customer service. Booked a nice private room for 120 euros and received a dorm room instead. Have been trying for 3 weeks to get a hold of the manager and still no reply. PLEASE don't go there and support this type of managing a business and treating people who are on holidays.
My friend made a reservation and received a different room. Paid full price. Terrible customer Service. Be careful when booking with them. Can ruin your stay in Barcelona. Management / Hostel / Staff is not responding to our email complaint. If I had the possibility I would rate it Five-Star-Negative.
Staff at sun & moon is great. The breakfast dude is always on his game. Not great sharing one bathroom with 8 people, though.
Jairo and Carlos were incredibly friendly, funny people who welcomed me into the hostel! They let me in before check in, and I had a great laugh with them! I highly recommend this hostel, it will leave you with a positive impression of the hospitality in Barcelona! Five stars!
Just the right thing. Hostel in the Center not far from Plaza de Catalnuýa. A convenient site close to all amenities. On the other hand, not much choice in the breakfast of this hostel.
Great hostel! Everything is clean, comfortable! The staff is attentive!
Hostel very well located (right next to the real Plaza). Very friendly staff. The rooms are clean.
A possible improvement would be breakfast, some fresh fruit or bread instead of the rusks would not be a luxury.
To conclude: hostel very good for the price and the location!
Good location Igiene acceptable bad facilities incomplete for any activity.
Look at the website because there are that pay sheets.
Stay away. Dosnt worth your money. Very low level. And they promise to put my order through the booking and they didnt. Just zero level.
However it's the location which is La Rambla and the economic price tag which is what you should be looking for! Wi-Fi is negligible in rooms so I suggest you load yourself with a bigger data pack to use it in your room since the ground floor has decent speed. Beds are decent sized unless you are a tall person 6 ft plus. In all its not a bad deal but if you get something better then you can drop this place from your list.
We also had a problem with the equipment. But the place is very comfortable, we were located in a building opposite the main on the 4th floor, could climb to the roof and look at the city from above. And the room was a cozy big studio with two beds. Year 2007
Excellent location, close to La Rambla, friendly and helpful staff, reasonable cost.
Central. But under human dignity. Rooms are far too small, let alone for eight people. With breakfast they mean a Zwiebackbrötchen and coffee (if you can call it that). Hygiene is a foreign term. Reception can not speak English.
Prefer to stay in a better hotel/hostel or directly on the beach.
Good location The rooms are very clean. Recommended.
We stayed in a double room xon private bathroom which had nothing to do with the images they showed on hotel platforms. The room was large if, but it was very old, little clean, cold, the air conditioner with heat pump to a lot of noise and the bed was very uncomfortable, you noticed the mattress springs. The only thing that would stand out in positive is that the bathroom was newly renovated.
Sun & Moon Hostel is located in the heart of Barcelona, in the district of Ciutat Vella, just a step from the Ramblas and Plaça Catalunya. The location will allow you to visit the city, the museums, the modernist buildings, the cathedral, the Boqueria market and the Rambla without having to take any means of transport.
The rooms at the Hostal Sun & Moon have their own bathroom, are equipped with air conditioning and have individual lockers where you can keep your things tidy and safe. They also have plugs and reading lights on the beds.
Excellent, close to everything, clean, good atmosphere, good prices. Recommended.
Not sure why everyone there are so many bad reviews. This was one of the better hostels I’ve been to in Europe. Pub crawl for 10€, including a half litre drink was tons of fun. Rooms were clean and the hostel sold tons of useful items, like single use shampoos for 50cents.
The hostel is very central which is great and the staff is helpful. However, the room we were in was really cramped. They managed to put in 4 bunk beds in a super small room so you can barely walk in between. It also got very humid at night as the AC was not working properly, plus some of the guests in the room were one night really cold because of the cold air from the AC blowing directly onto some of the beds. Other rooms seemed fine.
Great price, friendly, friendly staff and right in the center. Advice to all.
For me one of the best!
Right in the center of Barcelona. Good location.
Cheap and comfortable site few sites with this price offer you breakfast.
Overall it is good. Convenient location and reasonable price. The team did the great job. They are really friendly and helpful, especially Alexis, Nina and Wanda. However, extra charge of the blanket and bed sheet. The luggage storage need to charge 2 euros each time as well. Moreover, the Wi-Fi speed is slow.
My friends and I stay in the hostel for couple days. Everything was good. The staff are very helpful and nice. We had so much fun.
The location is good The staff are friendly and helpful. The price is cheaper than most of the hostel near the Rambla. One of the things that need to improve is the Wi-Fi, it's a bit slow. And The other thing is the stove. In General, it's fine for the price and location.
The location centrally located in the city center is great … Short distances, clean rooms and good Wi-Fi, you shouldn't expect more from a hostal.
Price-quality it is a very good hostel. It's cheap and you get what you pay for. Bring a sleeping bag because otherwise you have to pay extra for the sheets. The breakfast was included in the price but it's no good. The location is great.
Blankets and towels for an extra fee!
Super friendly place with a good mentality on the part of the employees. The only thing that could be improved seems to me to be the "breakfast" part. A bit expensive for what one has, fresh bread for example would not be too much. But other than that nothing to say!
Good hostel. Comfy beds. But for all they charge you, even for leaving the suitcases.
This is a hostel so my expectations were pretty low, to begin with but it's reminiscent of a prison. There is very little character and the people there weren't the hostel type people I'm used to. Its smack in the middle of Las Ramblas though so I should have known. Location is pretty central if you want to be in the middle of the touristy area.
I've seen nochnie rip off such a brazen!
These stars are not enough to give my rating, so here they see my own scale that I have rated fairly-31 out of 10 points.
Location really very central staff very helpful toilet and shower are in the room are a bit too small but since we were just to sleep at hostel that was in my opinion no problem.
It is supposed to represent a hostel but is in real a jail! 8 people in a squeezed maximum 20 square meters of rooms! You seem to have no idea of cleanliness at all.
A rusk is offered as breakfast, which is included in the price. The so-called fruit can't even be described as a snack!
Definitely wasted money! As if the whole thing wasn't enough, it's also outrageously demanded €2 for storing the suitcases! You prefer to stay overnight on the beach …
Would prefer not to give stars at all, but at least it is central and the workers at the reception were friendly. Otherwise it is the most terrible "hostel"!
It is a very good hostel, of the best I have visited, gives you free breakfast, you will meet many people, there are 6 beds per room So if you go in group is ideal to rent it all, you can rent or buy beach towel iron for hair, hairdryer, you are given a guide of Barcelona and you recommend n places.
Conveniently located Hotel, you spend little especially in the rooms by 8. As opposed to many reviews our room is clean.
I've stayed here twice now, roughly 6 weeks apart. The first time was good despite the reviews. Our room was on the third floor and had a lot of room for activities. Didn't come across many issues. The second time I booked again because I enjoyed the location and semi-low price. However, things have changed a little from what I remember. Drink prices from the bar have increased, my room is a lot more cramped, and I booked 3 nights but cannot refund the last night even though there was over 48 hours notice. I would recommend that if you are going to book, just choose one night and decide afterwards if you would like to stay longer. Less risk in sampling this experience.
Grubby, they charge you for every little thing. Breakfast is terrible, a disgrace to even call it that. I honestly seen a giant cockroach crawling over the floor in the main area. We left our luggage in the safety room which we were charged for and the night porter went to sleep in the room which is supposed to be secure. We couldn't wake him up and couldn't get out belongings in time to catch our bus. The hostel has a good location it's not the best but it is good. No place to sit comfortably and also they don't let you eat or drink in the common room without giving them 10 euros. A joke. Wouldn't return. I give 1 star to warn other travellers although I didn't have a supremely terrible time there. The rooms are very very cramped.
A good hostel with an excellent location and staff very nice and attentive to the needs of the guests. They charge you for the sheets but it includes a bottom sheet so you don't need to buy any kind of bedding.
The hostel is very central, but unfortunately the disadvantages outweigh the disadvantages. There are cockroaches there and in my room were also bed bugs (had 4 weeks of bites). The doors can be simply pressed on and in some bathrooms the water ran out of the defective pipes so it was always wet. At night it is very loud IM house, because there are many youth groups there who do what they want. Breakfast is also not to be enjoyed. Our whole group has always gone out breakfast. Mainly because of the vermin — 't go!
The room that we touched is much uglier and older than the one that appears on the Internet. There are some that are newer, be careful when choosing. As for the area or we liked nothing, there are many people who offer you drogra, fights, immigrants etcetera. If it is possible to find another location.
Rude guests (a Russian lady threatened me and my other companions without a specific reason, and high schoolers were shooting ball music until four, not counting the drunk on duty who put himself in meow in front of the hotel door) dirty rooms and Smelly, not to mention the "breakfast". A classmate of mine were stolen €50, and a rat and cockroaches were found in a room. I heard that a homeless man was found in one of the rooms. Oh, what if I want a new towel? 2, €50, thank you. But the worst thing is that the magnetic keys open up more than one room.
In fact, in the middle of the night, a stranger managed to open the door to the chamber of some of my companions, and moved away after realizing that there was someone awake.
Cozy and familiar! All very nice and hospitable! If I go back to Barcelona, book here surely!
Everything was great!
'll definitely be back.
Located in a good area but managed badly. A little courtesy from the staff, environment not very clean. Absolutely not welcome to request a share of the money, to receive a blanket.
The best hotello of my long-lived but somewhat vapid life, Whilst for some the fact that the shower was flooding after the room is considered to be a disadvantage, for us (8 swag boy) has been one of the most luxurious of always because it is the first time that we have stayed in a room with a swimming pool (or pool with the room) — The aroma of sewer deriving from the bathroom allowed us to live on an exotic adventure, comparable to the journeys of the explorers of the amazon — The fact that blankets, towels, water, current, and air were paid denotes the luxury and has allowed us to spend money that, now, always our filled pockets — it was purely vegan, by some described as "poor", it also allows people to diet and refuse to eat yogurt-
Various infestations have made the stay particularly intriguing, and free of charge have allowed us to develop antibodies to the most deadly diseases known and those still unknown — the Only negative note was when now the third day they clean the room from the remnants of the experiences of other customers-

I stayed in this hostel for five days during a school visit, and even though never been in a hostel I found it downright indecent. The rooms look like a prison and say that they are dirty is an understatement. Don't change the toilet paper and provide a towels rather small, which is not changed, if not at the price of €2.50, what is for me absurd, because the hygiene should be a right. The showers are disgusting: they share the same floor as the rest of the bathroom, and the mixer is like the showers of the pools where you have to hold or the jet stops every thirty seconds; in addition, every shower the bathroom floods regularly. There is the presence of a sink in the room which is, in my opinion, useless. Behind The beds there are crusts, and piles of hair that give the nausea. The beds do not have a provision makes sense because the ladders to climb up on the bunk bed are attached to the wall and you have to be acrobats to climb. Two of my classmates were subjected to the bites of fleas, after having used the blankets provided. The bedspreads are not changed or washed after a guest leaves, since they are clearly visible patches of dirt. The location is the only advantage, but rather to stay in terms of genre I prefer to walk two kilometers to walk. In the street everyone knows this place and its indecency. At this point, I wonder why this place is still open. If there was an option to not give stars in this review I would.
Pequeño, muy incomodo, centrico y economico. No volvere.
Good in relation to price, recommendable for those who want to be close to the Center and not spend much money. The rooms and common areas are large, though in general they look old. The bathrooms are good although they could improve the cleaning. In the rooms only are included the pillow and the Savannah Basic for the mattress, the rest them rented by €2, 50 it stay, also have lockers large that work with a currency and that then you returned the money. This centrally re, the staff is very friendly and the breakfast is included in the reserve.
If you don't mind dirty beds and cockroaches in your beds and room, this is the place for you. I stayed in a private room in June 2016. The shower was broken and there were holes and cracks all over the walls. No AC also made for a miserable room. After finding multiple cockroaches in our room and one friend breaking out in a rash from the bed, we spoke to the front desk staff. They were not helpful and in the end we left withouut a refund. Apparently cockroach infested rooms is just something everyone experiences at this dirty hostel. Hoenstly don't waste your money on this place.
Warning for the hostile man working at the breakfast! Aggressive guy who seem to hate his job. The beds makes so much sounds so I did not feel like turning sides to not wake people up. One shower per room is nice but the water is in the whole bathroom after someone takes a shower. Big lockers, breakfast and the location are the positive things.
+ very good location! + power socket per bed + big lockers that even 60L hiking backpacks fit into + breakfast + easy to meet people in the common room — squeaky beds — really bad Wi-Fi — they don't check the rooms, ours was out of toiletpaper.
It's a fantastic location, helpful staff, but it didn't seem very conducive to meeting people. It could have been just this time, but that was my experience.
The location is excellent, just service, the rooms were a little small but it sufficiently comfortable.
I was there for some drinks with friends who were staying at the hostel. The prices were good and the food and drinks were just as good. The service was also great, we even talked with the guys there and had some drinks before they closed their bar/food area. Overall a nice and chill place to be in.
Very good location and good facilities, but increase in price at the last minute and the breakfast included is not of this world.
It's quite tidy hostel. Kind and helpfull stuff and you can get many informations about the city.
I was a few days in this hostel… A big scam!
extremely dirty and personal obnoxious see aggressive!
surprises not negligible on arrival: deposit to deposit, sheets at 2 euros, towels for 2 euros, if you make your room 5 minutes late're you your security deposit, etc…
Anyway, I have the almost certainty that the positive comments about this hostel are written by the manager she even who speaks fluent french.
Don't leave anything in the locker because it's a simple room or we can go as in a mill and to use as you see fit… RUN AWAY!
I stayed in two hostels in Barcelona, the other being Saint Jordi Rock Palace (search for it, it's amazing! ), however this one was pretty disappointing. I was greeted by a rude gentlemen who took my to the bag storage and overall felt a few of the employees were rude on occasions. The rooms were basic with only having one shower and toilet between 8 and no communal bathrooms. They were fairly clean but really old and could do with a refurbishment. Our room had a noisy air-con fan too which would bother some people. Some would argue the location is great being next to La Rambla and the gothic quarter but there are much nicer, less touristy parts to the city. There's a bar in the hostel next to the lobby which sold cheap beer which was a bonus, but we were often disrupted by a school trip of about 30 kids being noisier than us drinking. Having given an honest review of the hostel itself, I did meet some really cool people, I wouldn't recommend this place to others, I would say check out the Saint Jordi Hostels because the one I stayed in was perfect.
Great location, staff very helpful & friendly. Clean, I would use it again. They charge a bit extra if you pay by card and 2 euros for sheets and towel. Over all good experience.

Very nice people at reception, great Location and very nice atmosphere. Great Job!
The hostel is the worst I have seen in 20 years of hostels around x!
Piccollissime rooms with beds and cupboards crammed, without no space x move.
Small bathroom with shower which flooded all over the floor and very little cleaning.
Breakfast disgusting the worst coffee in the world!
Finally to check out they gave us wrong directions to the airport, threatening to make us miss the flight! Very bad!
A horrible Hostel: we had to get our rooms at 3 pm, result, at 4:30, we managed to fight to be able to settle while the staff still cleaned the rooms. It was dirty (from the tissues under the beds, an electrical outlet hanging), many things were damaged (including a record that didn't close, we've been too honest and not enough we took photos, result they kept a part of the deposit on the pretext that it was us who had broken it), the shower was clogged, the flush walked once on two. Mattresses are bad and would hurt the back, hey it's cheap, so it's not the worst. On the other hand, the fact that the door is so rotten that just push on it so that it opens, he has no excuse. I'm just leaning against until someone let me in, and SURPRISE, in fact anyone could go.
The breakfast was bad, but well, it is often the case. On the other hand, an atrocious staff organization, it's horrible. Rooms are not ready in time, big problem for bonds, it was fishy (our school could not pay bail, it was students who from out of the cash, then when you take it back, could not take the money, was expected to be in the presence of the Director, and coincidentally, suddenly we were pressed) they knew we had a bus to catch and this is where they stuck us supposedly to pick up bonds). The rooms were sometimes really small, the showers were fleeing (the shower head had shifted and was spraying outside) so it was swimming around.
To improve their advertising, I also recommend this hotel!
If you want a good night's sleep, forget!
The walls are "paper", hears everything from neighbouring rooms (even less pleasant when you want to go to bed early and that the room next door partied alongside. )
Same with the noises coming from the street.
Rooms with the minimum Union! And having the size of a sardine box.
Sanitary little presentable and in poor condition.
Strangely the staff is presentable and well-maintained, is expected not a finding of room if clean and dilapidated.
Cleaning and preparation of the rooms "to tear it off"
Doors to rooms in bad condition, no need for a pass! It opens all alone just by pushing on it! Serve you is open!
BIG scam (especially for tourists I think) :
accusations of damage already present when we arrived!
Payment of a deposit not specified when booking!
Very expensive night for this welcome!
And a tip for this hotel: with all the scams that you have had to make, serve you money scams to maintain this dump and fix anything that was degraded!
In short, I wouldn't stay again.
CATASTOPHE
-Dirty
-Not honest
-Dilapidated
-Tourist scam
Why?
-We arrive in groups of 100/150, we learn that there is a deposit in the amount of 10 euros per person + 5 euros per key. This had not been clarified by telephone.
-Lack of access to the rooms before 15: 00 (ok it had not been informed by phone also).
3: 00 nothing was even cleaned. While they could do since 10: 00 a. M. At the exits last. They spend so one quickly to tear it off while we moved.
-The room was so disgusting. EVERYTHING was damaged, the tops of the beds, cupboards, doors. So it is impossible to point all this out. (unless hired home the weekend as an employee)
-The key/badge of the House was useless because it was enough to push the door to go home!
-For many lunch was infected.
So I refused to walk barefoot in the House saw that pieces of glass hanging everywhere.
And Jackpot: They took us 20 euro deposit for a record that was broken before our arrival. And then as if by chance, they spoke more french!
Ahah, you want to go.
Very nice and good place for enjoyable stay! Good location, very nice and friendly staff and good rooms :) ) ).
Dirty, disorganized, bad Wi-Fi, sheets and blankets cost extra, ect. Not the WORST possible place to stay, but there are hundreds of other hostels to choose from at the same or lower price. You don't need to stay here.
Very very conveniently located. Staff was very helpful and the people at the reception were well informed and very polite and helpful at guiding us around the city. Priced very well. All in all, a great experience.
I have been there for few days, nice hostel with the greatest location in the city! :).
Despite good location and breakfasts its nothing special. Rooms are small, kitchen very poor. Staff is not helping with noisy locators.
We first arrived at the place and straight away loved it due to its amazing location, there was a massive street party happening at the time also made the place buzz with excitement. There was a large group of us about 20 first we had trouble with the booking but it was all sorted as we still had a place to stay therefore it did not matter. The rooms are basic but its all you need for the stay all I wanted to do was go out and experience the streets! the staff were so friendly and inviting and helped with everything, the bathrooms were nice, and the rooms very clean and tidy. i would recommend taking your own towel if you would like a large towel I was fine but some people like having a massive towel. The breakfast was basic but really good as they were packed I would take everything out of the basket and eat it throughout the day really, and if you want something like fruit or cooked food you could simply nip to the market and buy it as its on 50m down the road. but the big plus with this place in the location! macds and KFC on the corner and good bars and shops around! amazing trip and would stay here again.
Central location. Friendly and helpful staff. Clean and cheap. Breakfast included and a voucher for dinner.
We were treated to a unique experience!
Honestly, you couldn't ask for more. Will definitely be back.
The worst hotel of Barcelona and the worst of my life. I posted a review on tripadvisor or the hotel has dared to answer me a big bunch of lie. We were 5 friends including a speaker. It was to the 6 th floor, dangerous stairs, room disgusting (hair and Earth in the bed, cigarette butts crushed, etc. ), the deposit has never been rendered under the pretext that we had made the room too late! The hardest thing is to be taken for the bitches and that hotel cares royally customers and still happens to lie on the sites. I am confident that the positive reviews are all fake. It should be closed, it's almost anything! At your own risk.
The hotel is ugly, this elsewhere and reception up to this ugly room, that it is unsafe to leave your things inside and get to know.
Not half as bad as his reputation, if you know what you are getting into. We were there on a study trip for a week, and were very pleased with the hostel — even though the hostel has only 2 stars, that doesn't deserve the name of breakfast and the bathroom for a 10-person room has only 2 m². The location, the straightforward and courteous service and the excellent air conditioning (which is way better than the refrigerator in the lobby, just in case you want to refrigerate the beer in the room) were convincing enough. Having to drive in the summer at 40 ° in the shade not with the Spanish Metro to get to the city centre, worth much is already insane.
With a motto like "we don't do refund" you probably shouldn't expect much. Still, I have rarely experienced a more indifferent staff than the one at this hostal. The place itself is pretty run down, and people are really crammed together. Feels more like a railway station than a hostel. Its very central, but if willing to live further away from the centre, there are plenty of cheaper and better alternatives.

RespondIThe hostel had a very centric location, but maybe too centric.

The hostel is in a great location, but that's pretty well all it has going for it. The water from the shower leaks all over the bathroom, and the air conditioning is very loud and hardly works. I was also charged extra for paying with a credit card which I think is totally ridiculous for a bill exceeding 120 euros.
