Stunning location, outstanding service, great food, a real treat.

Food was outstanding, service impeccable and the view over the sea breathtaking. Wines were all local and excellently paired to each course. Setting in a ancient fort is lovely too. Restaurant decor is a bit old fashioned though and the windows needed a good wash, especially to make the most of the views.

The restaurant has wonderful food, service and wines as well as one of the most beautiful beach views in the world. Imagine Michelin dining while the sun sets and you can watch surfers!

Fully consistent with the description and reviews. Great service, gorgeous views. Cleaning rooms twice a day. Welcome port. A bathtub with a whirlpool. Dinner at the restaurant requires pre-booking. A little strains the noise and smell of street ventilation at the open window. But the central air conditioning is enough not to open the window.

We had our wedding in this place this June. The experience was pretty mixed, the organisation part was absolutely amazing, Marta did a great job to make us comfortable and give us a very special day. The opposite was the booking center, lead by Mariana, who is the worst person ever. From going away from agreed conditions for room booking for our guests, also she is terribly unfriendly, lying, accusing guests in front of everyone. She lost the reservation of my father, told us he was "lucky" to get a cheap room on the wedding day (he booked a suite). She should be fired.

Fantastic food! The restaurant positively surprised us already a year ago and it has done it again based on the constant innovation power of the young star-studded chef, who is a master of his art. What the fictional character of the greatest master of perfumes does in P Suskind's novel 'The perfume' is what Rocha Vieira achieves with his creations, making you taste the local flavors of this inchanted place. Thank you chef and chapeau to your level of mastery to bring flavors and perfumes to the palate!

This is a first class 5 star experience. From the Michelin restaurant with awesome views of the ocean to the beautiful Fort that has been converted into a hotel. It's the only fort hotel on this side of the coast that has beautiful and vast ocean views in a scenic location with attentive caring staff and a great outdoor terrace-bar to have a nice coffee or drink and watch the waves, sun and sand. Such a cozy and beautifully furnished hotel. It also has a warm and fantastic loungy bar with great views of the ocean and cushy leather sofas, board games, reading etc. The bed was super comfy and so were the robes. Only good things to stay and highly recommend staying here for a great European experience. A great medieval feel in this fort hotel. You are close enough to Cascais and far enough from the tourist noise. Steps to the beautiful sandy-duned beach. We stayed for 4 nights and loved it. Thanks to Mario as well from the staff at the hotel for helping us!

My favorite restaurant in Portugal is with a mini-hotel on the Atlantic ocean with a stunning sunset and sea views. A very beautiful historical building with a memorable interior. In addition to the Michelin star, he is awarded prizes for the best wine collection in Portugal. A stunning set of 4 dishes with a few ame bushes before and between dishes, so don't order any more. Incredibly friendly staff and a very cozy building away from the tourist spots of Kiskhaisha. I recommend booking in advance.

Rather expensive hotel, but great location with several beaches nearby. Rooms are quite antique, air conditioned and the beds are very cozy! Room service could be better, room floors are still a little dirty even after madeup. The food at the bar and in the restaurant is also higher price class but is served with a smile and looks fantastic. The morning buffet is not overwhelming but completely fine. Cascais, Cabo da Roca, Sintra and Lisbon are close and easily accessable by bus and car. A rental car is recommended. If you can pay the price, this hotel is very recommended.

They made Me feel like my wife and I were special. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast in front of some windows exceeds everything Q a couple can expect from a hotel… Because the place is unique, with its staff it is WONDERFUL.

The location on the Atlantic or one can almost say in the Atlantic is gigantic. Cascais and Sintra are not far. We had room 104 with the ventilation ducts of the kitchen in front of the window. Was smelly not so pleasant. Rooms are large, clean and well furnished. Included with Nespresso. Breakfast was ok but for a 5 star house rather skinny. No fresh vegetables like paprika, cucumbers, … Otherwise just standard as in any 3 star house also. We had a much better experience. Price (€160 per room) /power doesn't fit.

I loved its "wild" environment as well as the quality breakfast buffet with ocean view. The setting is very original as it is an old "prison fortress" restored. The staff are very welcoming and attentive. Possibility of a small restoration at reasonable price as the restaurant is Michelin starred… The picturesque little town of Cascais is next door with the possibility to get there by bike (beautiful cycle track along the path that borders the ocean! ). Personal opinion: Small stay advised because apart from the breathtaking walks, there are no other activities on site. The small star in less is for the need for a good "refreshment" of the infrastructure. For nature lovers.

Staff are friendly and welcoming, room was very neat and nicely laid out and the views are amazing. Made us feel like home (the Eucalyptus trees, wattle trees and the beach and waves is lot like home in Australia). Would recommend this place to anyone wanting to visit Portugal.

Not being a guest at the hotel, I've enjoyed one of the best food experiences of my life. A journey into Portuguese culinary culture redesigned by a truly exquisite culinary genius. A well deserved Michelin star.

The building is very beautiful inside, despite a very austere façade.
The basic rooms are very well equipped with a very large comfortable bed and a bathroom with bubble bath.
The view of the coast, beach and rocks is very pretty.
Breakfast is great. We'll see tonight for the restaurant which looks very promising.

Location on the beach excellent. Good service, as always attentive unad gladly willing to provide information. Some of the rooms have a loggia with a view of the beach and the water.
Good breakfast buffet with fresh fruit, sparkling wine and a large selection of baked goods. Egg dishes are freshly prepared.

I haven't stayed at the Hotel. I have eaten at the restaurant several times, business lunches and privates. The restaurant is excellent, raw material of great quality, superb service, unbeatable attention. It has wonderful views, no parking problems. I have recommended it on several occasions and I still recommend it.

Beautiful views and rooms. The people working there were so kind. Left my sister's necklace in room when we left hotel. They were able to track it down and hold it for us — the manager at the time… we are talking about 2 years ago was fantastic! PS: They had yummy bakery goods waiting for us in the room when we checked in.

Are the guns arranged at the entrance for the reception. When to us, after 30 minutes of waiting on the terrace, we took the powder of heels.

In response to Ms. Franco: Dear Ms. Franco Actually, I personally tried calling and emailing your hotel multiple times but never received responses and was unable to get through on the phone line – which is why we ended up contacting Expedia. I’d be happy to forward you the multiple emails that I sent, which are still to this date unanswered. Because Expedia was the easier party to get in contact with, we communicated through them. The facts come down to this: your hotel promised over the phone a full refund if we could send proof of our flight cancellation. We sent this proof within an hour of that original conversation and yet your hotel never fulfilled this promise. Moreover, it took the hotel nearly three weeks to let us know you changed your mind. We spent a good portion of what should have been our honeymoon trying to get in contact with your hotel to see why the refund hadn’t come through… and we hit roadblocks at every step. The bottom line is that your hotel’s refusal to uphold spoken promises or respond to clients in a timely way shows your utter lack of empathy and poor customer service. Original review: The staff at Hotel Fortaleza do Guincho was completely nonresponsive at best; at worst, they made promises that they later broke– costing my husband and I over $600. My husband and I made a reservation to stay at this hotel for the first two nights of our honeymoon in Portugal.

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, was a memorable experience, the staff are second to none and can't do enough for you. The setting is idyllic, just what you need for a get away from it all break, the views are breathtaking. The food? Well the chef has done this hotel, his country, his region and his kitchen proud. As a chef my hat comes off to you and your team, you made my birthday one I will never forget. I know we will be back again.

Most Beautiful hotel I have ever stayed at. Rooms/ service make you feel like you are staying in a castle. Set outside of Cascais it is a quiet an romantic getaway. Every time we walked out the front door the view of the mountain took my breath away. EAT at the restaurant. I can't compliment the chef enough. Get the tasting menu and let him work his magic. It will be a dinner unlike you have ever had before. A meal of this elegance and fortitude would cost more than double in America.

Hotel lent us good bikes & lockers and we explored whole coast by bike — only 5 km flat under a full moon! The restaurant staff, food all were amazing! A real terroir, food & wine with personal touch with great sea views… We had the opportunity to meet the chef at the end of the night — the second in command. Passionated by local food, an young Portuguese chef, very talented, creative and full of enthusiasm. We experience so many flavours of Portugal with very professional people. The whole team made us to feel very special. It was a sentimental bridge to Cascais, to Portugal. Muito obrigada!

The hotel is located in a fantastic spot, gorgeous sea, gorgeous scenery, puttroppo you should renovate, in the room where I stayed smelled of mildew, everything stinks of mildew and and a shame because the place and beautiful…

Characteristic structure, the rooms and the furnishings bring to mind the adventures of Zorro to be clear. Wind-dominated area, excellent for windsurfing enthusiasts. Good restaurants in the area. Nice memory.

The view is just amazing, I would definitely recommend the scones if you are looking for something to go with your afternoon tea.

The hotel is too expensive for ordinary tourists. Stop mostly the fans of leisure club and casino players. Near the Guincho beach.

Fortaleza do Guincho, the hotel that was once a fortress, located right on the extreme west coast of the Atlantic Ocean, was the ideal place for us who love the sea and its wild surf. The wind that blows the salt-soaked air to the shore with the spray and clears the airways of city-ridden people. Nowhere have we been looked after so lovingly in a 5-star hotel as here! From the German director to the Portuguese maid – lovely people! How to be very hospitable in Portugal at all. The hotel: outside a castle — inside, in a beautiful historical style and homely! A very quiet location — just the sound of the sea! If you don't like it at night: the windows are absolutely soundproof! One gets the impression that the world is quitting, or as a poet once said: "This is the place where Europe plunges into the sea… ". However, an ideal starting point to explore Cascais, Sintra and Lisbon … then, after extensive sightseeing tours, to find yourself again: by the sea! Pure! Conclusion: We were thrilled! From the place, from the hotel and its nice and courteous staff! A place we would like to return to!
