Quaint is not always a virtue… Aside from its central and convenient location, the hotel appears not to have been refurbished for decades. Our party of four had two rooms — a suite and a standard room, so I'd say we got a pretty good idea of the place, and it wasn't just a case of getting a crappy room. In general, pretty much everyrhing in this place feels really dilapidated: the mattresses, chairs and sofas in the rooms are so far gone that you can actually feel (and hear) the springs and wooden frames whenever you sit or lay down; the curtains are worn and threadbare, and do a lousy job at keeping out light and noise; the floorboards are scratched, uneven, and coming apart at the seams; the bathroom fixtures, which were once gilded and luxurious, are either cracked, rusted or functioning poorly; the electric equipment is antiquated and partly inoperable and there are very few power outlets, forcing one to decide whether to turn on a rickety lamp or charge one's mobile… All in all, despite what are clealry the best efforts of a very courteous and helpful staff, a very decent breakfast and the aforementioned location, very little remains of this hotel's apparent former glory, and it's unfortunately well on it's way to becoming a dump. Not really sure how and why it's still rated a 4-Star hotel…

A lovely hotel in a superb location. The staff are friendly and helpful nothing is too much trouble. There is always someone on reception and the door is opened for you by the concierge who also helps with your luggage. There is a very good selection at breakfast where you can help yourself to a variety of food as well as eggs cooked to order from a small menu. We were given a complimentary and very generous packed lunch when we were going on an all day trip. There is a small bar on site and lots of eating and drinking cafes and bars within a minute or two's walk. Just lovely! I would go back in a heartbeat.

I’d actually give it a 4.5. Nice hotel. Great staff, comfortable, nice location and excellent breakfast. Only negative in the whole experience were the shower curtains. They could definitely use the curved ones that move curtain out. Tubs small. Being attacked by shower curtain makes showering hard.

Fabulous hotel. Staff were friendly and went out of their way to help. Rooms were clean and a little out dated which only adds to the charm. It's a little like stepping back in time but with free wi fi!. Breakfasts to suit every taste. Short walk to centre. Will definitely be returning. Thank you Hotel Francuski for making our first visit to Krakow perfect x.

Very nice hotel, the decor is very 1920 and the staircase is a replica of the the titanic one. The staff are amazing and the breakfast buffet is more than excellent. Looking forward to going back very soon.

Good four star hotel with the spirit of antiquity. In places requires an update, but generally produces a very pleasant experience.

At a more than affordable price a wonderful hotel in a historic building a short walk from the center. The staff were very helpful.

Hotel antigua, close to everything, staff very friendly, breakfast very complete, well-preserved. Only detail not there is a safe in the ratings, the TV only has 5 channels in Polish, so if you arrive at night and want to see something from TV it is impossible. Very spacious rooms.

Gem in Krakow, 1912 hotel with original decor and modern facilities. Staff are friendly and attentive and make every guest feel as though they are the only guest in the hotel. Situated on a quiet street within 5 min of the main square. This hotel will be our new go to place whenever we visit Krakow. Well done to Hotel Francuski and all the staff.

Real architecture of beginnings of century XX, charming and beds worthy of kings!

Amazing place great location, and even made us a packed lunch to take to Auschwitz highly recommend.

A beautiful hotel that has seen better days. Krakow's oldest building designed to be a hotel (1912). But, alas, the upkeep has not kept up with the times. The place needs a good scrubbing and update. Having said that the rooms are large and comfortable, the staff is really nice and the location is excellent.

Excellent breakfast! Close to everything in Old Town Krakow. I highly recommend staying here. We will stay here again when we come back.

Hotel and staff was great along with a very nice breakfast. If going to be staying anytime soon I would reconsider, they are doing extensive renovations it appears and construction started at shortly after 6am, was so loud and the building was shaking. It startled me out of bed. The noise continued right through the entire day. Rest was not a option. This Hotel has no air conditioning either. Very convenient location to everything.

Nice hotel located in the Kraków Old Town. Pretty hot in the room during summer time even though we had a fan.

Great hotel. We came to Krakow for a city trip.
The hotel is great. The rooms are clean. The breakfast great, the staff nice and the location of the hammer.

It is a beautiful hotel with more than a hundred years old located in the Centre of the historic town of Krakow.
The personsl is wonderful, friendly and patient.

An institution in Krakow… the old-fashioned charm of the great art deco hotels 1900 with a menu of the day at… 18 szlotys (less than €5)! Today it was a delicious soup minestrone and a trout with mashed House… tablecloth and napkin fabrics + very nice piano recital. It is between the soup and the 5-star hotel… Society of Krakow seems to have made her choice! I say Yes twice!
