Did not have my room that I reserved “Overbooked” Tried to give me another hotel that was down the street Ended up with the staff room for 1/2 the price but on the street and on the lobby. Has a padlock for the door! I say stay far away from this hotel. I will in the future!

I found El Balcon though a blogger I follow and this place did not disappoint! My boyfriend and I stayed in the the largest suite with a beautiful view of the garden and the city of Cusco. The space included hot showers and the comfiest beds! The atmosphere was also very quiet which for me was a great start to my day. Plus, the staff was super helpful and even ordered our cab back to the airport. You can tell this place goes above and beyond to provide great service and I already can't wait to go back!

El Balcon was a sanctuary on the hill overlooking Cusco. Although only a few blocks from the main plaza, it felt like we were a world away. El Balcon is filled with beautiful gardens, a light-filled dining room, quaint rooms, and a top-quality chef. We spent many hours outside soaking up the sunshine in between our Cusco adventures. We couldn't recommend this hotel more!

Look no further! 10/10 El Balcon was a wonderful place for my wife and I. We spent almost 3 weeks there during early July of 2018 and used it as our "home base" in between as well as before and after our treks. Please read on for specifics on staff, space, and food. STAFF: The staff was personable, kind, and always helpful with directions and coordinating with taxis. They also helped us navigate how to retrieve our lost luggage. This was extremely helpful because they were familiar with the Cusco airport. SPACE: The rooms are simple, clean, and cozy. Water pressure and heat in the shower is strong, which was a real gift after a long trek. El Balcon also provides complimentary clean drinking water in your room as well as in the lobby although a donation is suggested. The garden/terrace is quaint and comfortable and the wood fire places in the dining area and the lobby were a perfect touch after a long chilly day. The dining area was open throughout the day which was a great spot to read and write. FOOD: El Balcon provides a complimentary (FREE) continental breakfast of fruit (watermelon, papaya, mango, honeydew), granola, juice, coffee and your choice of french toast, eggs, or pancakes. They also provide hot tea throughout the day in the dining area. Breakfast is just the start of the menu at the restaurant. They also make and serve delicious dinners. We ate there often because it was convenient, fresh, and affordable. Also!

I stayed here before and after trekking the Salkantay trail, and really enjoyed my stay! It was clean, the gardens and view were wonderful, the staff is incredibly friendly, and it is close to lots of great historical sites in the heart of old Cusco. Walking up the stairs in altitude was a challenge at first, but the restaurant is well stalked with water and coca tea to help you recover. It's a relatively quick walk up to Cristo Blanco and Saqsaywaman, or you can get to the main square and historic markets just a few blocks down the hill. I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in Cusco! The only reason for a lost star is because the hot water could be a little spotty (typical in the city) and the rooms could get chilly at night even with the space heater turned on.

Lovely hotel in the heart of Cusco. Beautiful grounds that make you feel as if you where in an old hacienda. The staff was very polite and helpful. The rooms and bathrooms where impeccable. Breakfast was amazing with many choices to pick from. This place is a "must stay" if you are in Cusco.

I loved this hotel and it feels like such a great value for about $45-50 USD for a double room. They offer a free and convenient airport transfer. The rooms are large, very cozy and rustic feeling, with many historical Inka-era relics around the property. During most of the day the common/dining room had a good selection of fresh herb teas and wonderful coffee. Breakfast included high quality fruits, yogurt, granola, and several made to order items like scrambled eggs and oatmeal. The restaurant had good and reasonably priced meals. There was always a comfortable wood fire buring in the lobby and dining room that made you want to linger. Be sure to check out the great views from the second floor terrace. It's conveniently located about a 10 minute walk to the main plaza and compared to hotels in the San Blas neighborhood there's a much smaller hill you have to hike up, which was welcome considering Cusco's high altitude (over 11, 000 ft). Our showerhead had a somewhat erratic spray, but it was easy to overlook this annoyance considering everything else. Tips: Try to book a room on the North side of the hotel. These rooms face the sun, are brighter, have better views towards downtown Cusco, and stay warmer if it's cool outside.

Tucked away a short distance from the Plaza de Armas, El Balcón offers a quiet respite from the hustle and bustle of Cuzco. It's a small hotel with beautiful, well-kept grounds. It's centrally located to many of the prime attractions in Cuzco. It has a small restaurant on-site that offers some delicious food and drinks. A variety of complimentary teas are sure to help with any altitude sickness you might experience upon your arrival in Cuzco. The rooms are comfortable and well appointed, complete with warm blankets, heaters, fresh fruit and bottled water. The shower had great water pressure and hot water (a bonus, I found in Perú). The Wi-Fi was complimentary and worked well. The staff was warm and welcoming and happy to arrange tours and drivers for my adventures throughout the Cuzco and Sacred Valley region. I enjoyed my stay with them, and will definitely be back on my next trip to Cuzco. For a truly great experience check out their sister hotel, El Albergue, at the train station in Ollantaytambo. They will even arrange transportation between the two locations.

Extremely well kept, fair trade oriented hotel. Free breakfast is excellent. Cozy atmosphere and staff are exceptional. The food in the restaurant is also amazing.

A charming little hotel which is cosy and quiet! The staff is really nice and really helpful and the room are very clean and comfortable! An absolute bargain for the price! I would very much recommend it to anybody visiting Cusco!

My mom and I stayed here before and after the Salkantay Trek. Beautiful rooms and gardens. Everything felt very clean. Really good food in the little restaurant. Friendly staff. They were also good at responding to our emails before we arrived as we had to rearrange our arrival time due to delayed flights. It was a quick walk to the main squares and markets.

The hotel is cute and affordable. Some others in the area might have better facilities like heater and a nicer bathroom but it will cost you around $20 more. The garden is cute and they have a nice organic breakfast. The location it's not the best if you have heavy luggage cause it's on a hill and narrow street.

Quirky doesn't half describe this place. It goes on and on, up and down stairs, and every room is different. Breakfast is included. Dinner and snacks may be available from Juanita in the kitchen. A very informal, relaxed place close to the Plaza de Armas and many other sights.
