We enjoyed our stay at the Sábalos Lodge so much! The staff, especially Ismael, were kind and accommodating to any request. The cabins are beautiful, with the opportunity to see rare birds, reptiles, even a squirrel or caiman, right from your porch! The food was excellent, and always more than we needed. They arranged tours for us, and transportation to and from the lodge. Everything was smooth and easy, wish we could have stayed longer!

This place is an adventure. I would recommand to walk from Sabalos (if you're fit and have a backback). This trip takes you through the local remote places and gives the best entrance to the lodge. Enjoy a cold beer watching the alligator Lily while waiting for your bamboo home. Sleeping in open air with howler monkeys over your head is amazing. This is one of our best experienceces along Rio san Juan.

The place looks lovely but is far from the city centre (or something else). The room was more expensive (55 dollar, after a 10 dollar discount) then every private hut/house we've had in Nicaragua. The dinner was ok but 12 dollar is heavily overpriced for Nicaraguan standards (even for this particular region). The view was great but the cabin didn't have a lock or wall plug (so say no charging your phone, e-book or camera). The cabins do look nice and they did try to put in the extra effort to make it look nice.

What a wonderful stay we have had at Sabalos Lodge. We left this morning and are already missing it greatly. The hotel itself is so beautiful, the rooms overlooking the river are open so you feel the breeze coming in and one can see a stunning sunset while relaxing in the hammock. The food of the restaurant is divine and loved how the chef put so much love into her food. But above all, we loved the staff. From Rafael (the owner) who arranged all our transportation from ometepe (not an easy task I must say), to ismael (the manager) whose kind smile and incredible help made the whole trip memorable to charleen (multitasker) who served us with always the sweetest smile and most heartwarming approach and even gave us some great lomi lomi massages. And lets not forget Pinto, the hotel's dog, would guide us into town and take us back every time we needed to buy something there! What can I say…! We were meant to stay for three nights but ended up staying for a week! Thanks so much for such great experience! We will most certainly be back!

One of my favorite places on earth. If you really want to escape and experience something beautiful, this is the place.

Our stay at Sabalos Lodge was truly an amazing experience. Definitely one of our highlights of our trip to Nicaragua. I've travelled a lot but never stayed at such a beautiful special place. Ronny and Ismael were fantastic hosts! And we loved our two trips on the river with Julio as well. Thanks!

We stayed 3 days magic Sabalos Lodge. Ideally located on the banks of the Rio San Juan, discovered the jungle, Cayman, multicolored birds, monkeys, flowers…
A wonderful, Ishmael is always there to answer your questions and expectations! the cabins are basic but very clean and comfortable, the view of the rio is an enchantementLes meals are generous with a heart for the Pancakes in the morning!
The must: rent a canoe and discover the places safely!

We stayed at this place for 3 nights and enjoyed the experience. Granted, this is not a place that will offer you a thousand dinner options and hot bath tubs. But if you want something different and really experience the river, then come here. It is breathtaking. The huts are right on the riverbed and nothing beats relaxing in the hammock at sunset, hearing the birds go crazy and seeing how the jungle prepares for the night in your own front seat. In the early morning you are woken up by screaming monkeys and have breakfast in the restaurant with the very attentive staff. They can help you with setting up kayaking trips or a jungle walk in the Indio Maiz Reserva — and a visit to the Castillo nearby. Don´t think twice, come here!

I was quite satisfied with yaros boonat cloon and the horrid large squid poor was very enjoyable.
