Have just had a nights stay here. The hotel is in need of some improvements it has a tired feeling to it. It was obviously a very grand hotel it its youth. The rooms and the hotel was very clean which is a big plus and the staff were helpful. A heater was made available in the room and so we were nice and cosy. The mattress needed changing but I still had a good nights sleep. If you are driving make sure you have a small car because parking is under the hotel and very tight. It is a great location to restaurants and cafes.

Its 100 year old Hotel. It's got some cool quirks about it. The rooms are spacious. Park is on a first come first serve basis at the rear of the hotel. I'm curious what is on the 3rd floor. I forgot to ask the duty manager. This reminds me of the movie "Grand Budapest Hotel" Its cool I like it.

The building, renovated several times, is probably already 80 years old. Nevertheless, good accommodation with very spacious rooms. Breakfast is served in one of the neighbouring restaurants.

I am 6"0, so have to duck quite a lot to get under. Aircon exhaust pushes curtain aside so let's morning light in The room is big, but the deal is tiny — see pics The corridors have a stale smell The decor is very dated The lighting is too dim.

This hotel is changing ownership in the fall. Do NOT stay here before then. Hallway's smell of cigarettes, rooms are shabby and ill equipped (only one chair in a large room) and the front desk didn't replace a missing light bulb in spite of two requests.

Having read some reviews I was concerned after booking however, the room I had did have a heat pump which cooled the room. The beds were clean and comfortable and my mother and I enjoyed a complimentary breakfast at the cafe next door which was part of our booking. I would stay here again.

Not worth the money. It's nice ish room and had a good view and the location couldn't have been better for going clubbing, literally across the road. But felt like they had just made the room so at first glance it looked nice but if you actually looked the power sockets we're wonky and there were little cracks on the wall with the Windows. The sheets were stiff. On the website it said there would be breakfast provided but didn't see that anywhere. Overall it was fine for the night but not for the price.

This really was the worst hotel ever. The most run-down and clearly unloved place. Our room was large but like a kiln as there was no air conditioning in the hotel (judging by the fan heater in the cupboard, probably no heating either come the winter months! ) We didn't sleep a wink due to the dreadful heat. The window panes were cracked; there was enough mildew in the cracked and peeling paint on the windowsill to cause an allergic reaction in those so inclined. The smell of mould was awful. The bathroom was large and white tiled but clearly some of the grouting was past it as in some areas it had obviously been painted over. I feel very sorry for the staff working in a place whose owner clearly needs a rev up re upkeep of the property. It was embarrassingly bad. How did this place have four stars?

Great overhaul needs, rooms are spacious but mattresses are exchanged, Windows better sealed. From the location quite ok, there are many places to find in the area.

Was attracted to book this hotel, to experience the heritage feel (i mean the Queen stayed here after all! ) It was fantastically located and had a unique boutique feel right upon entry and all the way to the neat spacious rooms. Friendly attentive staff, well worth the choice. Shall come back again. (has amazing night life too :P)

Overall enjoyed the old place. It's from a different era yet has good Wi-Fi and great service. Great location. Comfy large bed, white crisp linen, good shower. Dinner next door to the left was great and breakfast next door to the right was fantastic.

The hotel is in the prime location with many restaurants and clubs nearby. Just lacks in providing sufficient car parks. Our room was huge with high ceilings. The cleanliness in the room and bathroom was satisfactory. The hotel is still in the process of some renovations and I hope it will be even better on our next visit.

The front desk staff was very friendly. Yes the building definitely seems very old but at least it was kept neat and tidy. We stayed here to watch a game of Rugby. The manager was very accommodating and had managed to put me in a room at the back of the hotel which was much quiter. Very good location as it is located next to many multi cuisine restaurants. Will definitely come back.

The hotel gives you a grand feeling as you enter. High ceiling and massive spaces took my breadth away. Our room was fairly clean and cheap. The location is perfect for big time foodies as it is surrounded by many bars and restaurants. Highly recommended to those looking for value for money.

The worst service from reception. The hotel itself is not bad but the lady at reception is disgusting. Not answering phone from the room and you go down all the way she gives very rude answers. Yes, they don't provide toothpaste and they don't know where I can buy one. Their car park is like a maze. They got 30 plus rooms but only have 15 car parks. If you have a bigger car then forget about parking there.

Ok, if jus looking for quick place to. Stay. Features good. Large rooms, but double is double bed dont like two mattress thing, not a big guy but I was kinda sinking to my side. Really friendy Receptionist next morning. Yes it did have damp mouldy smell, my partner had lemon grass oil, so couple a dabs gave a welcoming room.

The hotel had a strange smell on entering, which was considerably worse on the staircase. The car park was littered with rubbish and over flowing bins. The lift stopped working which sadly meant you had to face the smell regularly! The rooms were large and clean, however the air conditioning did not work and the room was unbearably hot. Grab one deal or not stay away from this little gem.

Faded glory, needs a major revamp. Enjoyed the massive room and cheap price. Right in Hamiltons party zone so very convenient but obviously noisy.

Very, very disappointing. Large room & comfortable bed but no service. Had to carry own bags down & up steep stairway. No welcome drinks as promised on Grab One advertisement. (I have advised Grab One) No mini bar, no beds made or room cleaned. Very noisy — music very loud with woofer, music, screaming & shouting ALL NIGHT. So bad we packed our bags & left at 5.30 a. M. Forgoing breakfast. Night porter was polite but unable to provide answers or customer satisfaction. We were told nothing could be done until 9 a. M. We were not prepared to wait! We were told the manager would phone us at 9 a. M. That morning. Still have not heard from him/her.

This place would have been amazing in its day, but it's seriously run down… It's under going to refurb but it's too far gone. The terrace room is seriously pimp, would be ideal for a sick party… The balcony is the best, but it's just run down. Hope you guys can get your act together.

This was disgusting. This room is called an Executive Suite — I think because of the size? It's huge — but that's it. It is dingy, old, tattered and horribly dirty. There is no sound-proofing so you have to endure the clubs until 4am. The bathroom was dirty, with gunge in the bottom of the shower and the shower plug clogged with hair. There is no mini-bar, but they have a list of six items that you can call the reception for?! The couches were incredibly uncomfortable and the material was ripped in many places. The bathroom door didn't close properly so there was no privacy, and it squeaked so loudly whenever you opened or closed it that everyone in the room woke up. I am incredibly disappointed, actually I am disgusted. I will be contacting the management of this hotel, they should not be representing this suite as "Executive" and they should definitely not be charging $220 a night for it! I had requested an extra bed, but they said "oh someone else has it". The service was. Dismissive at best. I feel ripped off and extremely disappointed, I booked this room for a special occasion and well in advance, expecting for the price a superior experience. What I got was a glorified hostel, with dismissive staff and a dirty, noisy, hot cavern of a room. Absolutely unbelievable that they have the gall to advertise this as a four star hotel. Do not stay here, you will regret it.

BEWARE THIS IS NOT 4 STAR facilities are below substandard on any level. Broken lights. Broken spa. Broken refrigerator. Power points not working. Ripped curtains. No batteries in remotes. Sky needed to be fixed. Smelt of possible drainage issues / musky in the lift. Parking is limited. Manager is arrogant. On positive note housekeeping was great. I can not recommend this place to anyone.
