Loved our stay at the Masonic, great hotel, wonderful location, amazing service. For three of our meals we were looked after by Amber and by Liam who both were so good and so friendly, food was amazing but these guys made the experience even better. Liam is so good with his coffee making, wonderfull flavour, I have travelled all around the world, twice, and Liam is one of the best. Tony.

Our Art Deco Apartment was Beautiful! A home away from home and having the adjacent room to make it into a three bedroom apartments was just what we were looking for. Will definitely be going back and I would highly recommend to anyone looking for comfortable living while they are away.

We were most impressed by the Art Deco design of the hotel and our spacious suite. Cocktails were well-made. Breakfasts in the Emporium Eatery were very good. Wi-fi was unreliable and needs an upgrade.

Nice meals with excellent service. Wonderful old building. We will return next time in Napier.

Amazing bar and restaurant which really elevated our stay. We stayed in a superior king room which was much smaller than the photos on the website alluded to. The room was clean and tidy with the usual hotel amenities but you can't adjust the air con in your room as its centrally controlled which was frustrating.

We had such a great experience here. Mark twain suite was georgeous and kept imaculate for us. The service was next level. The emporium and our waiter were flawless and meal. 12 hr braise lamb devine. We will miss this place but definately be back.

Absolutely fabulous place to stay. Central city but still quiet and relaxed. The evening meals need some work to make them more modern but maybe that's not the style they want. The staff and so super friendly and a real asset to the hotel. We will definitely be returning.

Always my favourite bar and restaurant in Napier. Food has improved recently although the menu hasn't changed. PS: time to get your winter menu back again with the ham hoc soup :-)

If you are after an Art Deco experience, to have a good night sleep, with access to the parade for a good ru, n and some good coffee shops I highly recommend it. Also very attentive friendly staff and clean environment.

I stayed here last year in a beautiful suite. Was a lovely stay and pretty good value for money. However returned for drinks in the bar this weekend and was a very long wait to order. Staff seemed disinterested and some overworked. Others just loitering. Hope for better next time.

Beautifully presented hotel with all the amenities that you need. Really friendly and helpful staff. I loved the Art Deco presentation of the interior which matches the exterior, yet the interior is not tired and worn. It seems new and fresh. The bathroom was nicely presented also. Clean and modern but paid homage to the era of the building. Several dining option available and the 2 places we tried offer good food, good service and everything came out in good time. I would definitely stay there again.

Just had the best meal I have had in a while here … was in town for business and a colleague who was also in town joined me … we both loved everything we had — Alejandro suggested some great wines to match as well … if your in town … definitely go here … its not cheap … but the quality of the food is a bargain at the prices.

Cool place to stay, don't go looking for modern rooms, very retro and classic. Lounge was great, restaurant was great, right down town and service was great. Worth staying at.

Art Deco city You are looking for elsewhere. The hotel is really an eye candy and the associated restaurants priced absolutely OK and very good.

Great hotel in perfect location. Beautiful well appointed rooms and friendly staff. If you need to park, simply request when you make your booking and they will reserve you a spot in a carpark nearby. They charge $11 per day, in a carpark that costs $5 per day, but it's good peace of mind d to have a reserved spot, especially if you're visiting at busy times and weekends. Highly recommend this hotel.

Beautiful hotel. Well decorated with many original looking artdeco touches. Stayed in a very nice suite with a balcony and newly renovated. Staff was amazing and the restaurant downstairs was the best in town.

This hotel is kind of a pain to find parking, although it is offered if you want to pay for it, but it compensates with the fact that they're strategically placed downtown and right next to the beach. It meant that when we went up to our room, we were not only pleasantly surprised with a balcony, but one with a beautiful view of the water. It is a shared balcony with other guests, but the door locks, and I preffered having a huge balcony with tables and chairs anyways. Other than that, majorly comfortable beds and pillows, and I would strongly recommend to get breakfast included. It was nice, although really really rich food.

Art Deco Masonic Hotel is the place you want to be while in Napier. Perfect location, beautiful rooms and yummiest breakfasts. Adds so much to an art deco capital of the world experience!

Lovely old art deco building (as you'd expect) massive, comfortable, king size bed in the superior room, nice decor throughout (some of the rooms were being reno' d to be fair), friendly welcoming receptionist. Would definitely recommend.

Looks great but it's a mess. First, there is no free parking or even a paid parking lot near the hotel. You need to park your car in a car park a few blocks away or on the street. There are meters everywhere around the hotel but there are a couple of 2 and 3 hour zones nearby. Meters stop working at 6pm, so you can park in those spaces overnight. The hotel is very noisy. The rooms are on the second floor, but the first floor is an Irish pub, which you can imagine is always noisy and you can hear everything. If you get a street facing room, you'll hear all the street traffic. There are doors slamming open and closed all night long, and that's when you don't have obnoxious guests screaming at 2 and 3 in the morning. Our room was tiny, but nicely decorated. The location is also good, right across from the ocean and near the shopping district and museum. I would choose another hotel next time.

It has a little door to the balcony but you don't have any view of the beach. The room were not sound proof can hear people walking pass and doing their business next door. Lovely place, lovely staff and great bar/restaurant. We had a wonderul weekend and highly recommend the hotel and restaurant.

Lady at check in very nice, and all the staff I interacted with equally so. Food excellent, some of the best I've had in NZ. Bar nice, but limited selection, especially of local beers, who wants to go all the way to NZ to drink Stella? Bar advertises itself as "one of worlds best bar" which is totally overdoing it. Room clean but very small, not much space to put anything. No computer desk, just a narrow ledge. No bottles of water in room. Bathroom equally small, but spotlessly clean. TV not worth turning on. No news to speak of (even in India you can get BBC World, CNN etc), not even the main NZ channels, virtually no sports (in a sports obsessed country), just mostly third rate USA rubbish like Bravo, and at least three evangelical channels. Be careful which room you are given. Mine, I discovered my first night, was right over the hotel's Irish pub, so people were howling at the moon until after midnight, then around five the street cleaners start chugging past. Overall, not very impressive, and I won't be returning. Sent from my iPad.

Nice clean modern rooms, could here the ocean from mine. Things like room service is confusing to order and my milk in the fridge was off. Great old building and the food from the pub downstairs is really yum. Would stay again.

Hard to fault this lovely building. Awesome location, friendly staff, very comfortable rooms, ours had french doors to the balcony and a separate lounge area with ocean views. The Emporium restaurant is also a great place to eat and drink. Easy to recommend.

Really enjoyed our stay here. Lovely room with a view of the promenade and seaside. On a warmer day having a cuppa on the balcony outside would have been delightful. Centrally placed amongst the art deco buildings. Make sure you do a walking tour to see all the other architecture to really appreciate the Masonic (we did the self guided one but I think the extra money for the guide led one would be well worth it). The Emporium downstairs is worth a visit too.

We just spent 3 nights at the Art Deco Masonic Hotel — what an amazing place to stay! The room was beautiful, lovely furnishings and modern art deco style bathroom. The breakfast included in the price was excellent value and set us up for the day. We also had 2 meals in the Emporium Restaurant which were amazing — the "12 hour" braised lamb is to die for as well as the desserts. Heartily recommended :)

A beautiful hotel with great service. While we were there we were invited to visit some of the other rooms as it was noticed that we were taking photos of the interior. The location is perfect with easy access to the beach and to the other art deco parts of town. Getting their parking is convenient as well. This was one of the best hotel experiences of my life.

A stunning hotel, and easily the best I've stayed in ever. You get what you pay for here; super comfortable bed, beutiful authentic art deco interior and very friendly staff. The Emporium bar is linked to the hotel and serves excellent food and drinks too. Would I stay here again? Absolutely.

I have stayed at Art Deco Masonic Hotel on a number of occasions as well as eating at Emporium Eatery and Bar and attending a number of functions in the Gatsby rooms. I have always enjoyed my visit, greeted by friendly, knowledgeable staff, delicious food and hosted in stylish, comfortable accommodation.

So nice. Love napier, very beautiful. Great reception.

We stayed 2 nights in July 09, MED and Breakers both great places for cuisine. The room was dated but very clean, warm and tidy. However the experience we had in Room 103, the beds were past their use by date, very spongy, uncomfortable and unsafe. In the bathroom, the shower unit was over the bath, and there was no safety or hand rail to steady oneself from a slip, which did occur to my friend who suffered severe bruising. We have made positive recommendations and we do not expect changes over night, but a start on safety and health issues in their future refit plans.
