Hotel Van Onna is a tiny hotel in the Jordaan region of Amsterdam. The location is nice. I found it to be a good compromise in location vs price, not too far away from central Amsterdam, but also not too far from the outer areas of the city. The room I had was very small, but I was there alone, so it didn't matter that much, it was perfectly comfortable. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. While the Wi-Fi connection in the room was inconsistent (which the staff was honest about), they had a good connection in the reception area, and had a nice area to sit. They also provided complimentary coffee and tea there. All in all, it was a great, cheap place to stay, and highly recommend it to anyone on a budget.

Very clean, great value, simple but tasty breakfast, a bit small room but convenient, attentive staff and most important one of the best locations in Amsterdam, would definitely come back again, ask for canal view also stairs are a bit narrow and steep for large baggages.

Noisy rooms and mediocre attention.

Had the view of a wall, absolutely freezing! The quilts on the bed were bed sheets and I had to sqweedgie the shower water looking at other reviews is like this can't be the same hotel? But they must have good rooms and some SHIT rooms, dodgey Chinese people who run the joint, proper dump woke up n my mate was shivering in his sleep.

I was very happy with the location of the hotel and the view of the canal. The staff members at check in were kind and helpful. The room itself is a bit run down, though it is clear that they have plans to turn the hotel more upmarket, under a different name (Mr. Jordan). My only criticism is that one of the staff members was a bit snotty, in an English upper middle class manner. She might bear in mind that there is very, very little that is superior about the U. K. I think she is probably a nice person at heart. There is no reason, however, to look down on people who are on a tighter budget, especially if they are friendly, honest people.

Lovely situation on canal side and 8 min walk to dam square.
Our first room was spotless lovely outlook over the canal.
Second room was dingy basement room no view and very dark and was double the price of first room because they would not let me book at cheaper online price!
Woken at 6.30 in morning by what I thought was bomb going off! It was hundreds of kids going down for breakfast directly above the dingy basement room it lasted 25 mins and was awful. So much for the consideration of other guests!

Amazing! Perfect area, close to everything but in a nice quite area! The breakfast was great and the staff were so helpful! Thank you for a great holiday! :)

Great hotel right by canal. Close to a taxi rank, trams, buses, town centre within walking distance 15 mins. Very clean, lovely hot showers. Quiet and friendly, staff extremely helpful and great breakfast. In a lovely good location. Would definitely stay here again.

Great place to stay. Close to central Amsterdam but far enough for peace and quiet. Good breakfast. Nice staff. We have been staying here for years every time we go and the owner has been the same for years. Very nice guy. Well recommended.
