Best experience ever. What an environment 🤠

They were very accommodating and check in was easy! You had be rung in or used your key card to enter the building so it felt very safe! 24hr receptionist and they were all so friendly!

It is the est hostel ever, with the right Atmosphere for a GREAT Amsterdam experience. the highs and the beer experience is properly entertaining x keep the place exactly how it is x … you can cook in the kitchen and this it makes it great to entertain by feeding the new friendships x.

Unique place with the most amazing staff. Good breakfasts, clean rooms and great bar. Beeing there was unforgettable expirience and for sure me and my friends will be back soon!

All was perfect at this Hostel!
Cleanliness, friendly and helpful staff and the ambient at the bar was amazing. Althought the stairs are so steep… On the wall it was written "just 42 steps left" or "don't forget to breathe", I found it really funny. I'll back for sure at this Hostel.

Very social hostel makes it easy to meet people. Great little bar, good breakfast, convenient smoking room too. Rooms and bathrooms were always clean. Location was amazing next to the park, very easy walk to get into the bustle of Amsterdam. Staff were very friendly. Lockers under the beds were big enough to fit all my luggage.

First experience in the hostel, I have to say that I enjoyed a lot, we made friends with the Spaniards. In the room we were in 8, all of different nationalities. The hostel is huge located in various floors, each floor with the shower and the bathroom. In the morning we had breakfast in a common room where you could eat a bit of everything. The rooms had dirty curtains and there was a bit of dust but it was a nice experience.

We stayed for a week in shared rooms. It's a small hostel that has everything. The bar has very good prices, the smoking area could be a bit bigger…, the receptionist would help you with the problems (minus one we had a problem with a bed and one night I couldn't sleep because it was occupied by someone else and I also had to pay That night). In general, removing something, is a very good place to stay and meet new people.

Great staff, clean rooms, and awesome bar with great prices. The only cons are the bar gets a bit rowdy late at night, but if you're up the steep stairs you don't hear much, but I love this place all the same. Great place to stay in Amsterdam if you're not looking to be in the middle of things, but not too far. Miss it already!

Ingenious cheap hostel where you can only get to the taste for all your costs for a trip to Amsterdam.

A hotel in Amsterdam well located very close to restaurants bars and other areas of the city. The bar is an ideal place to meet friends and have a beer. I love the atmosphere and the facilities of the hotel. The staff is very friendly and always ready to help. The rooms are spacious and the bathrooms are clean. They have a portion of lockers to store suitcases and many showers so you don't have to wait.

Very homey feel, staff were helpful and nice. Cozy bar area. Spacious 8 person rooms. Great location right on the Vondelpark. Wish we had stayed longer!

The staff wasn’t as good as the comments tell on the internet. They would not let us change bed, even if some were free. Also someone stole us things in our room, that we shared with 6 peoples that never talk to us :) and
It has certainly a space to smoke and it is actually cool but heyyyy you are in Amsterdam so place to smoke are numerous :) ) )
In a nutshell we had a bad time there, but we had the habit to sleep in hostel so this one is in the top 10 of the worst experience.
You can go there if you want : the music is loud from the breakfast to the end of the night. Rooms are small, hot inside and smelly. A locker cost 2€/per 24h (lol you can buy one for 2€ at the supermarket). Also they don’t lend towels for free, you have to pay for them. But everyone here is stone so I guess that’s okay and that’s why it gets so much good comments.

Amazing hostel! I would recommend it to anyone looking for a hostel in Amsterdam. Its has a bar that's open late, a smoking room, and some queen size beds! It's close to some good coffee shops and a pretty short walk (20-25 min) to the major tourist attractions. Wonderfully friendly staff that are knowledgeable about the area. I had a wonderful experience here.

Breakfast was lacking in sausage. One of the rooms of 8 lacks its own bathroom (only has a shower). The rest, everything perfect.

The hostel is welcoming and friendly. The service is quality and it is also a great meeting place for passionate backpackers.

Excellent hostel. Friendly staff. Great service at bar and hostel reception. Good rooms, pool table, smoking area and lots of welcoming people from all around the world. Also comfortable beds, good showers and only around 300 metres from the Van Gogh museum and lots of good places to eat. Really great hostel.

I liked my stay at the "Flying Pig" hostel very well. The crew is very helpful and open, so you have the opportunity to have interesting conversations with people who have been sedentary in Amsterdam for a long time. The toilets and showers are a little small, but this is to be expected in a city like Amsterdam. The nearest coffee shop and several restaurants are a ten-minute walk away, so the hostel is in a fairly central location.

By far the best hostel experience I have had to date. Greeted by lovely staff, affordable, comfy beds, in nicely decorated rooms, each bed with its own plug and lamp, nice pillow and quilt.
Had a drink downstairs, reasonable prices, and a tasty little pizza thing. Everyone in a communal good mood. Very refreshing. Morning I was greeted by a comp large breakfast. I shall be back. Two big thumbs up x.

Decent bar and attentive staff. Standard/mediocre hostel breakfast: toast, cereals, hard-boiled egg, coffee. Noise didn't travel. Nicely located by some of the culture you probably want to see. Heater makes room air dry. Be prepared for stairs. A good place for traveling groups, but solo will take extra initiative to make friends (although I'm sure if you went and bought a few grams it would come easy).

Nice hostel, special if you are traveling with friends or solo. It has a bar in the basement floor, with a nice smoking area, where is really easy to socialize and meet new people. Beds are comfy, noise is minimum, and the only issue is that there are many stairs :P I recommend it 100%!

Very bad experience before staying there: I request the cancellation of the room with 8 months notice for business reasons and deny the cancellation… not only charge me one more night in my credit card… I was asking for cancellation for late August (high season) they had the opportunity to increase the price for other customers instead I find a refusal without the slightest courtesy… never again this hostel bad reception advise against.

Great hostel with good service and tasty breakfast, but very small and noisy!

There are two hostels with the same name. Easy to confuse. One is in the city centre and the other is 20 min by public transport (40 in the rush hour but they will say that is only 10min by walking, which is a lie because I tried). I stayed in both hostels. The one in the city centre has horrible staffs (snobby) but very good location. The other has better infrastructure and good staffs but it's very far (also, the 10 people room was smelling bad). Both prices are not so attractive. I would recommend only if you don't have any other options and just for very few days.

I've stayed here twice and really enjoyed the experience both times! The bar/smoking room is a great feature — love that I could relax, mingle with the other guests, and order a 5 euro pizza from the bar. Breakfast was good (toast, eggs, cereal, granola, some fruit), location is nice, beds were comfortable. Staff were really friendly and gave good suggestions for things to do in the area. Will definitely be coming back again!

Location: In front of Vondelpark. One way street, quiet, beautiful, close to everything. I love how it feels like a good starting point to head anywhere you want to. Staff: Fellow travellers, down to earth and friendly. You can strongly feel the team spirit and bond between them. Bar: Very nice and calm/positive atmosphere, cheap drinks, nice music. There are no outsiders here. Bar + Hostel share the same facilities. I loved the fact that you can spend sometime in the bar and then you walk up some stairs and you are in your bed. Facilities: There are plenty of toilets and showers. If your floor's facilities are taken you can walk up or down to find free ones. No problemo. The cat: Meow. I accidentally left her out one night and was worried. I saw her the next day. Cool cat. It was my first hostel experience and it was trully fantastic. Thanks and see you again probably :D.

Great service and very clean hostel good atmosphere.

A prison: All the windows sealed and lack of air everywhere. Rooms too small for 8 people. Flunked.

Interesting Place not too far from the centre with friendly and helpful staff. Less zobos than expected and great breakfast.
What you can not stand and that has made us run away at the first night and not close eye is the sense of oppression of a structure totally closed: All the windows are sealed, the small rooms and oxygen is scarce a bit ' everywhere. If at this we add that the bar and reception are basements the anguish never leaves you. It is hot, The bathrooms are excessively small, ditto for The low-rise and high steps that lead to the upper floors. One of the worst I've ever known. Do not imagine the relief when we came out of that kind of prison.

Very convenient to stay a few days, attention there are two, Uptown and downtown.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hostel is very well located and the atmosphere is very cool.

Nice location if you don't want to be in the center, really close to the museum zone. The staff was amazingly helpful and nice. The room small but good enough. The only but could be the variety of the breakfast l. Definitely recommendable.

Went in expecting the worst, but this place was surprisingly nice. Staff was excellent, room & amenities were clean, beds were comfortable. Did not expect the under-bed lockers to be as big as they were. They even let us use the kitchen to make the food we had just bought from the farmer's market. Given the chance, we would definitely do this one again.

I went with my husband for two nights only. It was our first experience in a mixed dorm and I have to say that I was surprised! The beds were very comfy, the duvet excellent and the bathrooms were clean. The staff is very helpful and friendly. We enjoyed the bar as well. I didn't have breakfast because I had to leave before but I saw toast and juice!

This was my first hostel that I have ever stayed in and I was shocked that it was so great! Ive heard some terrible hostel stories but these folks do it right! Aussie staff were great, friendly and helpful, the dorms were clean, bags could be locked away securely and the shower rooms were spotless. Thanks guys see you in November.

Room was clean, bathroom was clean, bed was comfortable. The bathroom is in the room and our room on the ground floor had no window or door, so it was very humid. Aside from that the staff are chill and the food and drinks are well priced. As with most hostels you need to pay for a towel. They also have a smoking room with a pool table.

It's a good location and the people are nice. The structure is good, but it has too many stairs which makes it difficult for those who have a large suitcase or need mobility. There's a smoking area that is 'green friendly' like a lot of places in the city, so for some people it may be uncomfortable.

This place is amazing! The staff + amenities + general atmosphere of the hostel made for an amazing few nights in Amsterdam. Try and book at least a month in advanced if you want a room, and even earlier if you're trying for a spot at the downtown location.

Great hostel for young adults! Great staff and good prices. Make sure you are prepped for hostel life though! Hostels aren't for everyone. Would definitely recommend, within 5 minutes of metro stops.

Great hostel with an amazing vibe. Definitely a very 420 friendly place. Very close to Museumsplain/Van Gogh museum and easy tram access to Centraal and other parts of Amsterdam. Not for people who want a quiet night's stay as this is party central and tends to be noisy and boisterous till 2-3 am but definitely worth it if you like partying and meeting new people.

Great hostel! Has that Amsterdam coffeeshop culture vibe to it. Friendly and helpful staff. Bathrooms are a bit cramped but are kept clean for a hostel. Easy to meet people. Lockers are secure. Great location across from vondelpark. Near the good museums and walking distance to most places. Been there twice and glad I came back for a second time.

Nice rooms, bit warm but that's expected in summer. 24h reception, smoking room. Option to bring your own food/drinks into the bar. Breakfast included. Free Wi-Fi that actually reaches your room and daily walking tours and bar crawls. 30 min walk from station.

Will update with Pokéstop status in the future. This is where I stayed when I first visited Amsterdam, and I'd do it again. The staff is great and the bar/smoke room is a lot of fun and you'll meet a lot of people easily. Only issue is it can be expensive.

Staff failed to let me know at checkin I was switching beds so I was shaken awake at 230am to pack up all my stuff and switch rooms. Apparently here you are supposed to somehow know what bed you have been assigned telepathically. I was going to stay a week but I am leaving after two nights. I wasnt even given a full refund. Also, Wi-Fi sucks in the rooms, even on the lower levels, someone nicked my blanket off my bed, my keys got coded wrong twice so I spent a good amount of time being locked out/ sorting it out. Not fun.

Couldn't fault this hostel, stayed here for 3 nights, our group got our own 8 man room. Staff were superb, friendly and we're just like backpackers and other stopping there. Late bar and smoking room open until 3 which was also a massive plus. Breakfast choice in the morning was also great. Only a short walk to other restaurants and not too far to walk for the centre. Will definitely stay here on future visits.

Great Hostel to stay in Amsterdam.

Good place, good location and good value for money.

Only one night spent there but it was a lot better than expected, super friendly and helpful staff, good prices for the stay, even the breakfast is included and the room was clean. Only "downside" is that there is not a lot of space and it can quickly get crowded, especially in the morning.

A site very suitable to spend a few days backpacking or informally with friends. Sometimes it is too noisy, but is normal, it is Amsterdam and is intended for young travellers.

The rooms were pretty decent. Clean, but not a lot of personal space. That's what you get in Amsterdam though. The staff is friendly and the location is great just across the street from the park. It's a short bike ride to downtown.

I just slept there one night. Everything was OK. Having another 9 people sleeping in the same room wasnt a problem at all. Also, the shared bathroom was totally clean.

Beds are decent, sheets get switched out and room gets vacuumed daily. Facilities are usually clean. They crank good stoney jams down in the bar and smoking area, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Twenty-somethings stay here.

The hostel was cool, but man am I cooler.

Best hostel in the world! The atmosphere is just so amazing, staff is super friendly and helpful, we stayed during christmas so they even made dinner for people who were there, it was so delicious. Free breakfast is so nice, lounge and smoking area are always full of amazing people who are always open for sharing stories and experiences. Beds are comfortable, dorms are nice, location couldn't be better. Just amazing, definitely coming back :D.

Awesome hostel. It's located right next to the Museumplein (area where all the museums are) as well as Ledesplien (where all the best bars are).

Beautiful, clean and comfy, this is one of the best hostels in Amsterdam! the staff is super nice, the breakfast is good, amazing smoking area and friendly people, and the hostel is also in a quite good locarion, near the Vondelpark and in 10-15 minutes walking distance from the city centre. If you're going to visit Amsterdam soon, I strongly recommend the Flying Pig Uptown.

Obviously (one of) the best hostel in town! Clean, friendly staff, amazing free breakfast, great common area and always nice atmosphere. The 4-stars rate I because they are a bit overpriced especially on weekends (they're the best and they know it. ).

Had a blast here! Super chill atmosphere :) The staff were very friendly. The rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable and breakfast was included. Lockers were available and the internet worked perfectly. We stayed in a 6 bed dorm with an ensuite and were able to hear the music from downstairs but that didn't bother us at all. Drinks at the bar were super cheap, too. The only thing I could complain about was 4 different staff members coming into the room in the morning after others had left to first clean the bathroom, then check if anyone had left anything, then someone to take the old sheets off and then someone to put new sheets on. That probably could have been coordinated better but it showed that the hostel is well looked after! Also, the location of the hostel was good. Highly recommend staying here.

Loved it. The smoking room at the hostel was my favourite place in the whole city. People was extra nice. Staff was so cool I even went out with some of them and some other customers. Rooms were nice (typical hostel) and clean. Bathrooms and showers were good (typical hostel again) and clean too. There's a nice kitchen and it's in a great location (even if the other Flying Pig in nearer the center of the city. They have a great bar, with good promos (4 euro 2 bottles of beer), and a very good breakfast (different cereals including chocolate ones, toasts with nutella, jam or butter, instant coffee, tea, milk, etc. ). Highly recommended.

Of the best hostels/youth hostels I've been in my life.
Quilts of comfortable pens, bunk beds and mattresses clean and comfortable, like the pillows. Spacious and beautiful rooms. Located next to Vondelpark, can be a bit on the outskirts, although tram and even walking is 20 minutes from the Centre, which is worth being a little 'away' and enjoy this hostel. What is truly just around the corner is the Museum Square, and is good, right in the Vondelpark.
Young, University, fun environment. It includes breakfast of coffee, toast and cereal.
The staff is friendly and international.
The common room at night is a multicultural melting pot in which it is impossible to not make friends.
Bathrooms are not the best in the world, but in terms of cleaning is not bad, and its price is can not ask much more.
If you take your lock you can store luggage in a luggage under the bunk bed.
When you return to Amsterdam cheap without a doubt I will take into account back to the Flying Pig.

Have stayed here a few times over the years and it's one of the better hostels I've ever stayed at. Close to most things you want to do, nice place and the bar is a good spot to chill out.

Stayed at the Pig 3 weeks ago, awesome place! Right near all the live music and clubs in the city without any of the seedy red light characters. I only gave 4 stars as one night there was no water or power in the street, Although I did have fun partying with the staff in the dark! keep up the good work guys! I will be back.

I'm only giving it a 1 star because of how we were treated and the fact the water didn't work. The front desk staff didn't have change for our cash to put a deposit for the building key card, so we were almost locked out after 10pm. We manage to get a key card finally as they were about to close reception, leave to go back out for the night, and when we get back no water is running in the building. Toilets are not flushing, water is not coming out of the faucet, no showers, no drinking water, NO WATER. We needed water. So we knock on the staff door (their sleeping quarters, reception was closed), and the girl working was so rude to us and said there was a switch to turn it back on but basically she was too tired and lazy to walk upstairs and turn it on. When we insisted, the person she had in her bed, apparently another staff member, started berating us for basically being too demanding and acting like we were spoiled children (for needing water! ). When we complained to the manager, the manager said "oh yeah, she's just Polish, she wasn't really being rude, that's just how they come across. " Don't stay here if you expect to get what you pay for (basic necessities like water and key cards), and also expect to be treated professionally and with respect.
