Good hotel for a few nights in Amsterdam. Close enough to all the places that you can walk to all of them with 15 or 20 mins max. Also quiet enough to have a sleep even if it's daytime.

The hotel is hidden away in a nice, clean, and quiet side street, yet it is relatively close to a few classic tourist sites. The lobby looks pretty modern and contemporary. The reception desk is a high table with some slick wooden bar stools. The receptionist works off of a docked laptop; an Interesting concept. Check-in is at 2:00pm, which seems pretty standard. The hotel room is nicely modernized, except for the carpet. I personally prefer hard floors, as they are easier to clean. Bathrooms also look very modern; however, there is no shower curtain, and no moisture vent. The switch to turn on the shower water wasn't exactly intuitive. As a matter of fact, the light switch for the bathroom is not in the bathroom; it's mixed with the rest of the light switches for turning on lights. Beds have enough firmness for me. Overall, a good hotel to stay at.

Good location. Close to the centre as well as to the airport. Hotel is situated in a secluded spot, so there were no disturbances during our sleep. Staff is attentive, professional, helpful, kind and sympathetic as well. One receptionist we would like to mention in particular was Megan, impersonating all of the aforementioned qualities! :) Breakfast was plentiful with lots of different choices. Literally everybody can choose a meal to their liking. Our room was nicely decorated, AC was working without any problem. Bed was amazing. Comfortable and large enough, assuring our good night's sleep. Just a perfect finishing touch to our impeccable stay was a handwritten note, with attached delicious stroopwaffel, personally welcoming us to Amsterdam as well as to the hotel. We are sincerely hoping to visit Amsterdam once again and would be delighted to spend our next stay in this particular hotel. :)

Four stars is the average between the awesome breakfast and the room that was not the best I have never stayed. Too small and dark.

Great location Very professional staff.

Great location in a cute neighborhood. Closer to Heineken brewery if that is you thing. Also close to Albert Cuyp Market which is worth a visit as well. Small parking lot if you are bringing a car.

Lovely airy room. Very clean with some quirky art work on the walls. Comfortable beds. Nice clean bathroom. It did take a long time to get us booked in which wasn't ideal.

Lovely hotel, beautiful location, close to a tram stop, quiet and very enchanting. Hotel itself clean, spacious rooms, wonderful staff. I also had breakfast which had everything including cups for to go coffee. I was so surprised that a chain hotel can be this good.

Decent hotel, fair price for Amsterdam. The design is a little outdated, the walls were thin, and windows weren't isolated (which made the room a little chilli). However, the area is very close to the center, and somehow isolated between other buildings, so the street to which the Windows were facing were very quiet. The only noise was coming from the room neighbours. Overall, it was ok, as we were away most of the day. We didn't eat at all there, so I cannot evaluate their food.

Just Okay. Wouldn't recommend. Upon arrival the staff were pleasant but our room wasn't ready so we went out for a few hours. We arrived in our room which was very basic, the bathroom was at the VERY minimum standard you would expect. There were no mugs in the room only paper cups and there was only 1 of each tea bag so the both of us couldn't both have a green tea or English breakfast for example. The noise in the corridor was enough to keep us awake during the night as I presume the rooms are not insulated properly so we used a towel against the door. There is no formal check in or check out so we didn't get to review the invoice when we left. The mini bar in our room was empty and the fridge didn't work. The hotel bar was lifeless but the bar tender was lovely and chatty. Overall would not recommend or stay at a Mercure again as I had much higher hopes considering we paid in excess of £150 per night!

This hotel exceeded my expectations. The first thing I judge was the breakfast, and he was great. In addition to having a good supply of fruits and vegetables, salads and cheese and breads there are also two types of coffee makers … but that's not all … in the room I met the cell phone I got to use while I was a guest and with it can be called free internationally, navigating all over the city over 4G and free surfing … and of course coffee and tea in the room next to the water cooker …

Small rooms which are also quite well-maintained, the high price was not adequate. The staff was friendly and the location was fine. 3 minutes away is a stop for the tram.

Noise noise noise is what the institution's motto might be. From the morning noise 7 o'clock to the evening beyond midnight.
Doors slamming (either by the customers but especially by the cleaning staff) frankly exaggerated, outrageous, without any respect of hosts: the slamming of doors shook the furniture of the room and woke us even with our Earplugs Quies.
Windows facing street or courtyard without double glazing: So comes the noise of a few scooters, the nearby school with children howling during the day, drunk bystanders or better if you are court side the laughter of the diners who drink under your Windows since the hotel saw fit to add by installing a few tables in the courtyard to make up for an extra layer of noise.
And to finish you off: partitions at the discount between rooms. You will enjoy the gorges of your neighbors!
All this happiness for a small price between 170 and 215 euros a night, breakfast not included.

Very bad for a hotel if not very welcoming, clean and well located.
We are very disappointed or even frankly annoyed at having stayed at this property.

Confused stay. Is it s boutique hotel or regular chain hotel with highly creative staff. To start with the bad parts. They signed me up to their membership club without asking, and said that the email provided only was for invoiced. Rooms are fairly small with ventilation really bad so room was damp during the whole stay. Visible mold in shower area and carpet wasn't vacuumed. Breakfast at 20 euro is pretty steep. On the positive side then, location is great in a quiet and safe area, priced reasonable and good staff. It won't be my first pick the next time I go to Amsterdam but I won't feel bad if this is where I end up.

Excellent place, the chain never disappoints, breakfast can be improved, but it is very good. The location is amazing.

While still part of Mercure, it maintains its own image and design. So we find a hotel updated but with a Dutch design reflected in the colors, the wood or the bathroom. It is located something outside of what we might call the centre of Amsterdam, although a 30 minute walk from the train station and quite close to the major museums and in a lattice of traditional and very quiet streets. On arrival, as a member Accor Platinum made me a nice gift from a typical Dutch house in ceramics, an upgrade and a typical welcome drink. The room is nice, offering in my case free minibar. What I did not like was that the safe did not work well, the kind of shower with a synthetic floor, the long hairs that were on the floor of the bathroom and they were there during my entire stay and I am sincerely very little friend of the carpets, and more when they don't seem to be very clean anymore. Comfortable beds, yes. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is not bad, but just like in other hotels it really doesn't make up for everything you pay for. In short, it is a perfectly recommended hotel.

Pleasant staff, though one person at check in desk is not always enough, waited 15 minutes. First impressions of the room were good, though there was a stain on the bed linen and mould in the bathroom, also dirty near the shower. I found the bedroom OK for size, though the bathroom was impossibly small. Location was convenient.

They never contacted me and then swore that they told me I had to come down and ask. The carpet in our room was FILTHY with stains everywhere and a sticky substance in one spot. The shower did not drain properly leaving the basin slippery from soap scum. The room was hot and never cooled down despite running air cooler at lowest temperature all the time and leaving windows open. Would not recommend or stay again. Location was okay.

Room was great, only a little small. Housekeeping was very good. Location was nice; many nice eateries nearby and a short walk to tram. Fuss-free stay and hotel staff accommodated to early check in request. Appreciate it.

I travelled with my partner to your hotel. As usual I have indicated for this stay my credit card at my booking. Which also worked so far so well.
After exploring our room we immediately noticed that our room was not properly cleaned. I also photographed these posts.
After the report in the reception we were assured that our room will be cleaned the next day… this was not fulfilled.
The next day I checked my card details and I was missing the money. After seeing the transactions I saw that hotel was already 1 day before my arrival at the hotel I had charged a sum of money on my card without asking me or inform!
Also another transaction was made on the day of check-in from the hotel. So they had booked the entire GELDBETRG they needed for both my booked nights simply without my consent and without only to inform me. After I also wanted to clean this in the reception I was told that the first transaction that was operated before the arrival was made as a hedge for the hotel Wärde. This would not be a problem for me who would also inform me but simply to take my money Ohni me to ask was too much and I find an absolute impudence.
The gentleman at the reception was always friendly and made a supper job. It was also clear to me that Mr. Abdi cannot Managemant anything for this. However, the rest is an absolute disgrace!

Overall I had a wonderful experience staying at your hotel. The only problem I had was that the elevators were not working during my visit and I had a room on the 3rd floor, which meant lugging my luggage up and down 3 flights of stairs. Besides that though, I had a wonderful stay and would consider returning to your hotel in the future while visiting Amsterdam.

We were three girlfriends and spent a night at the Mercure in Amsterdam, Noorderstraat. Good location, very friendly and helpful staff, attentive, parking a bit expensive but like everywhere in Amsterdam. Very good bedding, very clean, very good breakfast. We can open the window in the room, which for me is a real plus to aerate and refresh the ambient air.
If I have to issue something negative, it is on the soundproofing of the hotel in relation to the road, we hear everything since it is only a simple glazing. Fortunately, the street is not crowded, but we were woken up 3-4 times by cars or people chatting on the street like in the middle of the day.
On the other hand, I think it is a classified façade, and therefore, I guess they may not be able to replace the glazing.
2nd Small Negative point: a bit expensive
But in all, very good stay, I will come back during a possible stay in Amsterdam.

For a 4 star the/price quality ratio is not present. Indeed €185 at night + €20 breakfast for a small room attic on the 3rd floor seems expensive. Check out was not professional, error, little checking.

For one night the stay was OK. Rooms are very small but nicely decorated. What is not so great is the deafness and the automatic door closer (there is a door that pops all the time). Staff very friendly. The hotel is located in a residential district and next to a school. Price-/power is unfortunately not quite correct and also the number of stars (4) does not.

I think we stayed in Amsterdam during the hottest week they've ever had! The AC just couldn't keep it as cool as we like it in the US. Besides being teeny tiny, the hotel was clean and the beds were comfortable, which is what matters on vacation. Good location and adequate amenities.

First stay in this charming hotel in the heart of Amsterdam. Despite the constraint of a very well renovated old building and room size, a very good stay. The welcome at the reception was perfect and the wine tasting from the Wednesday by the director was very appreciated.

The hotel is in the city center, so an excellent place to visit Amsterdam. Due to the quit surroundings, you can find your rest in the hotel after a long day in Amsterdam. The hotel and rooms are very nice and luxurious. The only disadvantage was the heat in the room. The windows could not be opened and the airco was not capable to bring down the heat, so a warm room! The location, rooms, service are a great start for your visit in Amsterdam!

The Mercure is centrally located in Amsterdam which made getting around in the city fairly easy. The walk up to the Hotel entrance was well done with large planters of Geraniums, tables with benches and umbrellas decorating the enclosed courtyard. The rooms were very comfortable and well set up with great decor and facilities. The large painting used as the headboard above the bed was very creatively done. The staff was courteous and helpful, providing directions as needed and offering suggestions for places to see, restaurants that would be good to eat at and maps to facilitate getting around the city. The morning breakfasts were very well appointed and provided a great selection of food choices to meet the needs of any one. After a bit of confusion over billing being brought to resolution by management and if traveling in the Amsterdam area again, a stay at the Mercure Hotel Amsterdam Centre Canal District would be a welcome pleasure.

All staff are very welcoming and friendly, we knew we could ask for anything and they would work hard to help us. Beautiful room, comfy bed and a clean bathroom. Very pleased that the safe was free to use too!

Actually our stay was wonderful, very good treatment from the hotel staff, friendly, very well-disposed to solve any concern or question of the guest, the atmosphere relaxed and quiet, the rooms comfortable and the breakfast spectacular. Without a doubt the would choose, as well as recommend them to friends and family. Congratulations.

Breakfast little varied. There was No change of towels in 5 days. Hotel not prepared at the entrance for luggage and people with reduced mobility. Very small bathroom. Extra bed uncomfortable. Pillows too fat. Poor quality for a 4 star hotel. Of good; good treatment of staff.

Excellent reception and availability of the STAF. Room clean, comfortable and very cozy. Hotel near the center and the museum area: with the 24 you move easily towards the center. Great experience.

We arrived in Amsterdam mid-week and stayed in an upgraded room overnight. The Hotel is within walking distance of major sites. (Admittedly, the Hotel is a little bit far from Amsterdam's Central Train Station — approximately 10 blocks — if you want to walk there and roll or carry luggage. ). The room was large, very clean, included a mini bar refrigerator with free beverages and a Nespresso coffee/espresso maker, a large comfortable king bed, ample lighting, nice air conditioning and a good shower. The service was excellent: Gracious and knowledgeable check-in staff and accessible and competent Manager. The included Buffet Breakfast offered a variety of hot and cold breakfast foods — including eggs, cheeses, meats and freshly squeezed orange juice — and was hosted in a nice dining room. We would stay in this Hotel again and highly recommend it to others.

The attention, both in the concierge desk as in the breakfast or in the bar was excellent: great kindness and always willing to give us everything. The room very well, even if something small.

Situated in a lovely part of town, it was a delight to walk out and return to the hotel. We walked everywhere. Reception was very helpful and efficient. Whilst there were plenty of bars and restaurants locally the hotel bar provided a relaxed atmosphere with snacks for the evening that we didn't want to go out for a meal. Everywhere was clean and bright. We would stay there again without question.

4 nights we had spent in the Canal District, the Mercure Hotel. Often only the negative is left hanging in the case of reviews. I would like to emphasize the friendly staff. Also we felt in this Hotel comfortable. But Not so much you should mention is the cleanliness in the rooms. We are not a family are looking meticulously in the corners and there, a crumb of eckelt. However, we found in our room a driver's license, hair-slides and the various dust-heap. During our visit, our room was cleaned only 1 time in 4 nights. (vllt. Should this happen more often? ). We also had a broken bed. What, however, was repaired quickly, although not completely, but at least.

Everything was great, workers very attentive, rooms clean and spacious, beds very comfortable, in general very good quality for the price for Amsterdam. The only downside is the price of the breakfast, I should have a couple of options since 20€ is excessive and difficult to consume it! we decided to get something to eat around the hotel.

Beautiful room, though quite small. Lovely bed. Quite warm in the room since the air conditioning was not working. Located on the same floor as the reception, above the bar and breakfast room — it was very hard to sleep at night and I was woken early by the noise. A real shame, as the hotel is otherwise very nice. Nice check-in experience. In a lovely area, easily accessible by tram from central station. No opportunity to see movies which would have been nice. Beautiful wash basin in the bathroom — decoration on the walls and this were lovely.

The Hotel was clean, the staff very friendly and accommodating. The house has a very good location.

The rooms are lovely, the staff very friendly/helpful and the hotel is in a very nice location slightly removed from the madness of the inner rings of Amsterdam. I would give this hotel top marks if it wasn't for the noise. The doors for the rooms don't keep the noise out and should be amended so that they do. Also, the door to access rooms 120 — 130 has a terribly noisy creek. Every time someone opened it I was awoken. The door either needs a lot of oil on the hinges or should be mended or replaced. As I said I really liked the room. The air condition was most welcome as it was so hot when I was there. Unfortunately I can't say that I would definitely stay there again due to the lack of sleep caused by the doors issue.

Lovely hotel the staff are all so friendly and will go out there way to help there guests. The rooms are really cool with a old and new flavour to them which I really love. The hotel is only a few minutes walk from shop bars and restaurants in Rembrandt square but also far enough away to be really peaceful and quite. All In all I highly recommend this hotel and would love to stay here again!

I stayed in this hotel for a week with my family on January 2015. It's a really nice place fairly close to the center. We really enjoyed our time there :)

Very expensive hotel for rooms without charm whose photos booking online do not correspond to reality.
Soundproofing is abominable:
-You will have the chance to hear your American neighbors get drunk at 3:00 in the morning as if they were in your own room.
-Lack of double glazing will immerse you in the night life of the city and you can benefit from discussions of passersby as long as your room overlooks the street.
Avoid!

A comfortable hotel within easy reach of Van Gogh and Rijksmuseum and fairly simple to reach center. The reception staff were brilliant and suffered an it ignorant Englishmam with fantastic patience. Outstanding helpfulness.

Just what you need from a city center hotel, yes the rooms are a little small, but big comfortable beds nice bathroom. Pleasant friendly staff all within walking distance of the main attractions.

Not worthy of the Mercure Lable to wear. Extremely attentive, staff moderately friendly. Breakfast buffet is moderate (for Mercure) I'm definitely better from this brand is usual. Difficult to reach and relatively far away from the centre.

First dispel a myth: this hotel is not central. 2, 5 Km from the central station, 1, 7 km from Dam square and the main shopping streets doesn't mean central hotels. Whereas in Amsterdam we move around mostly on foot and that is done several times back and forth between the hotel and the city centre is easy having to travel even 10 km a day on foot. In different parts of the world have stayed at MERCURE but this is by far the worst in which I have ever been and does not deserve to be a part of this prestigious hotel chain. There the third-floor attic of han even banged in a 15 SQUARE METERS, dirty to do crap (I can provide photos) with huge cobwebs in the corners of the ceiling (removed after 2 days of insistence with the waitress and finding debris on the bed below), carpet by vomiting, stained and filthy, contract work in progress around the plane during our stay so, from 8 in the morning noises and hammering various forced us to flee as they cannot rest. Inefficient and centralised heating so at night you die from the cold and from 7 in the morning, when turn on the heating, the noise from the pipes and radiators decides it's time to wake up. Empty minibar and 2 Italian channels only complete the picture. I took the room thanks to an offer 2 x but still I spent too much in proportion to what was received and does not justify the treatment received. And I am a property manager so I speak knowingly.

Comfortable, central, convenient, congenial place.

The Mercure are in my view of the guarantees, except rare exceptions, but that's not the case. The Hotel is nice with a great value, furnished with very distinctive style and design, well done. The rooms we stayed in were a little small, but I guess it depended more than anything from our tour package and well maintained, clean and functional. I suggest this hotel for the excellent level of service, location quiet and pretty, not far from the Centre (and still available from the nearby tram line). Last note on for breakfast: rich, beautiful and frequently stocked to suit all guests. Segnalo only, for those interested, that there is the hotel's restaurant.

Very quiet hotel, good value for money.

Hotel charming in a quiet alley, the staff is small, available care and really friendly. The rooms are quite small but the comfort is.
The French or dirty breakfast is varied pastries, butter, jam, different kinds of bread, tea, coffee, chocolate, various juices. A real treat and has will buffet.
The hotel is well located in the City Center 3 tram lines pass nearby, as well as the piers for cruises on the channels that I urge you and the bus hop on hop off stop 500 meters along the channel after the brewery heinecken.

Very good bed, and a beautiful bathroom. The staff is very nice. Only one unpleasant thing : noise in heating system, but with ear plugs, we have passed a good night.
