Suhaila Palace Hotel

Simple effective! This is not an island to stay in his room!

A small hotel without pretension but that does very well the business for a stay on Perhentian Besar. The rooms at the top have a superb view of the sea and Kecil. The rooms are with air conditioning and fan. The household is operated every two days. Two main restaurants nearby.

Super friendly staff, nice and clean rooms, extraordinary sunset view and low prices. We’ve spent in Suhaila Palace 6 nights and it was really nice. We went for snorkling trip — 50RM per person for 5 hours of snorkling (4 spots + lunch in village, not included in price). We saw many sharks and 1 huge turtle and tons of coral fishes. It was a great trip and I highly recomend it. On the down side — very poor Wi-Fi, in most of the times unusable, also our GSM Hotlink sim card wasn’t workink well, try My Celcom, because they’ve had pretty strong signal there. Also bathrooms are so so… you can’t control the water temperature so it’s always bit cold, but we got used to it fast. Anyway, it’s great and afordable place to stay, very quiet (everything closes at about 10PM) and peaceful. Highly recomended.

We booked an ensuite double room for 5 nights. It was very humid and it smells mildewed. After 2 nights we figured out that our pillows were black because of mold. We asked for other pillows but they said they didn't have others. They gave us a second pillowcase. Except this the rest of our accomodation was simple, but okay. In the bathroom was a little hole because the floor tiles were broken but it didn't bother us. The staff is very friendly and there are different opportunities for breakfast (which is not included), lunch and dinner. I recommend 'Cocohut' (next to Suhaila) and 'Abduls' (only a few minutes walk down the beach).

Well budget logging. Rooms are clean, AC perfectly working, staff is very helpful. But you need to pay for Wi-Fi access. Also there is shop to buy many things, which you didn't get on whole island.

Newly refurbished rooms means all have air conditioning and the toilets are clean. A convenience stall is just downstairs and Universal Divers is just next door. Seafood Chinese restaurant next door means you're never too far away from food. So overall decent place with a very helpful and friendly staff.

You pay for what you get. Went June 2016, I booked for second floor room but when I was there, they said it's full. I have to ask them to call the manager to give us the room we booked. Other then that, the room is good for the price. Staff can be more engaging. Tip: you should open the bathroom fan on if you're leaving the room and leave the fan in the room open so that the heat will not trap inside (especially for fan room). You can buy Wi-Fi hotspot for RM5 that valid for 2 days.
