Ignore the LP guidebook. Rooms have been decorated, comfy bed, good AC. Strong, fast Wi-Fi and flat screen TVs that work. Friendly staff/volunteers. Great view of bridge and river from roof kitchen. Heads up if parking you need to buy a booklet of permits by the hour and scratch off a bunch of tickets. A bit ridiculous. Seems like harassment of tourists. Would be nice if staff mentioned this when checking in. When I paid the parking ticket at UTC I was told parking on the grass by river incurs and even higher ticket. Staff said it’s free there. Idk? I initially stayed at robin hotel further away (RM57/67) which was OK but no breakfast and their “Wi-Fi” does not work at all. TVs left over from 1980s lol. With the Abby’s free 4th night (3 at RM100 + 4th free) its same price for a better place!

Pros 1. Location is right smack in the middle of town. So you can walk to most places 2. Staff is friendly. 3. Ample illegal parking 4. Cheap 5. Plug at the side of every bed for charging your phone 6. The view on the rooftop is superb. Perfect place to drink or read and relax. Cons 1. Room is not properly cleaned before you check in. No basic freebies like shower gels or toothbrush or shower caps. Only have one soap dispenser. You will find stains under the toilet seat, behind the doors, the rack above the basin. The elevator is just disgusting. You can't smell it, but you can see the stains. 2. No towels in room 3. Bed is just very thin mattress on cemented platform. Very uncomfortable 4. Again, bed sheet got stain 5. To get hot water, you have to go out to the corridor on certain floors or to the rooftop 'bar' to heat your own water using the electric kettle. Very inconvenient when u wanna fix yourself a cuppa or instant noodle. 6. Free breakfast is just 2 slice of bread and coffee. No eggs. No sausages. Overall I won't return as I can get better facilities for such prices in ipoh. Note that some of their staffs are volunteers, as they have free stays for volunteers who works for the hotel. Hence the unclean rooms.
