Lovely staff very relaxing perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo.

Cheap ryokan with on premises hot spring bath. It got a bit quirky decor so not suitable for the people who are after true traditional Japanese ryokan experience.

This is quite possibly the most beautiful hostel I’ve stayed in, in Japan. And I’ve stayed in quite a few all over the country. Some things to be cautious about: 1. It’s on the side of a mountain, so if you’re walking from the bus stop, be prepared for a very steep 10 minute walk. Pace yourself. 2. There are no combinis or restaurants anywhere nearby. There is an on-site restaurant, but if you want snacks or a small cheap meal, you’re gonna have to go back down that hill and catch a bus into town… So don’t forget to grab food from the combini while you’re still at Yugawara station. The staff is excellent and very welcoming. Everything is clean. This place attracts kind guests. On my first night there, I ended up being invited to join a “drinking party” in the dormitory. Good times.

This was the first time for me in an onsen. If your walking from the main road via bus, it is a very steep hill so do take your time. It is open and easy to see if you have a GPS. Otherwise the sign is on the side of a building to tell you where to turn. The staff was very friendly and knew how to take care of everyone. I had the pork cutlet full meal and it was devine. I could have passed on the ice cream. The hot spring is not a mineral one but all the traditional bathing services are there. The seperate shower room has shampoo, conditioner and body wash if you forget yours. I stayed in the mixed dorm. The lockers they provide is big enough for an overnight or backpack. No carry on luggage. The bed was wonderful. Please be aware, if you need amenities like toothbrush or towel for the onsen, there is extra charge. I wouldn't bother with the cosplay room. There is charge if you use it but free if you post your photos on social media. All clothing sizes are average but it's more of a storage room with a mirror.

Everyone was English friendly and super helpful. Tomo san helped me find an outdoor onsen in hakone and printed out a coupon for me as well. The hotel is off in the middle of nowhere and the nearest convenience store is around 30 minutes by foot. Luckily, a night staff was available to take me via shuttle to grab some food, but I can't stress enough that you should come prepared. All in all, I had a great experience here and would recommend it for anyone looking for a quick getaway! Yugawara isn't as packed as hakone either, so you can avoid price gouging.

Place acceptable, but an access with much difficulty, with a high slope from where you leave the bus. Must provide shubtle from the train station.

Great views from the restaurant, craft beer on tap, lovely English speaking staff and they're tattoo-friendly as well!

Great ryokan hidden away in the side streets. A bit of a trek but once you're up there the view is immense. The hot spring bath was lovely and the eating area was tidy and modern. Service was good, very friendly service. Lovely stay overall!

The new experience service of modernize ryokan in Top Hill walk up from bus stop. FujiBashi. And take bus stop from Jr yugawara station… about 13 min (260yen) the town look very nice like other onsen in villages too… the best seen KOYO leaves too.

Nice place to get away from the city and relax… They do offer a shuttle bus from the station to the place but unfortunately the website doesn't provide much information as to how to take it from the station. Staff at the facility are amazing! Very nice and friendly. Once there I was able to take the shuttle bus back to the station with no issues. The place is clean and very well kept. Not much to do in the area. A very Good relaxation spot with nice nature walks.

It was really comfortable and very open to English speakers. I have tattoos and there was no problem going in the hot springs. The bath looks a bit small but it's quite comfortable. Beds were nice and staff was excellent to us. I only wish that baths were open later in the mornings, and the restaurant was open earlier. Also, there's a shuttle to the station! Definitely recommend!

The concept of the Hotel is very neat, and you get experience Japanese culture in a fun way. It would've been awesome if there has an outdoor bath but overall, it is a cool hotel.

The hill is steep, so I'll give 5 stars if they have shuttle bus
but it's really nice and comfort place! ❤️

Nice place to be, quiet and surrounded by mountains. They provide some entertainements as tatami making, cosplay, calligraphy, foreign languages exchanges for free or cheap and depending on their stock. Bedrooms are really nice and each bed in domitories has got good matress and curtain. With air con You can eat in their restaurant or buy some snacks, cup ramen… Nice place for gaijin who do not know about japan or for japanese who want to change from traditional ryokans. There also is an onsen…
