Beautiful traditional onsen in the greenest surroundings.
Delicious Japanese meals for the adults, continental style for the children. Very sweet and atentive staff. We had teo relaxing days at Senkyoro and would love to return any time.

Facilities are not modern, but that's normal for an onsen. What really sells this place is that the proprietors are super helpful and just downright sweet at times. I felt like the elderly lady was my grandmother, following me and asking if I'd eaten yet. English is very basic, so don't speak in complete sentences. You'll need a bit of pantomime and patience!

These lovely people cooked us dinner when we arrived late after a long day travelling. The rooms are spacious and the onsen is hot. One of the two rooms they use for the onsen is tired and small (but they rotate it between men and women so that you get your turn in the nicer room).

It was hard to find the place without Wi-Fi once dropped off from the bus. And charged for onsen use our person.

Location is a little bit hard to find, the spring is good.

Its hotspring is very good!

A homey and rather old fashioned ryokan, comfortable Japanese style rooms with shared bathrooms. You can pre-book to include meals in the lovely dining space. Gender seperated onsen, the larger with views onto a bamboo garden is for men in the evening and women in the morning.

In need of renovations quite urgently, as things are discolored, peeling, and very messy. The service at check-in was not welcoming, and for being almost the only guests there she didn't have much ready. The 'common area' was filthy and littered with newspapers CDs and served as someone's makeshift office. You could view into the kitchen which would have sent health inspectors running. The strong smell of mildew and cleaner was prevalent throughout the room to the point of discomfort. The onsen was 'nice' however there are many updates needed there too. I would avoid at all costs — — I'm not sure how they justify their pricing either.

Best ryokan and hotel experience I've had in my wide travels of Japan. Put on your best "Gaijin who knows some Japanese and customs" face, and they'll love you for it. Be respectful, follow their instructions, and you'll have the friendliest staff this side of the Pacific. The hot springs bath facilities are great and rotated on a daily basis, the bathrooms are well-provisioned and rarely used even if they're communal, and the breakfasts are absolutely marvelous. If you treat the staff with respect and care, they will treat you with amazingly friendly service. The area is beautiful, and even the smallest rooms are provisioned wonderfully. There's Wi-Fi in the lobby and lounge areas, and there's a personal keyed safe in every room. I'd recommend this to anyone staying in the area.

For the area it's an okayish price per night (we payed about 120 Euro each per night in January 2014). Good alternative for people with a limited budget. Located close to a bus stop and a combini. (Food at the onsen is too expensive and not really ryokan style) Building and facilities are a bit old and run down. Nice owners, speak a tiny bit of english. When we where there, it was quiet, we practically had the whole onsen to ourselfs! If you want a truly amazing ryokan, you have to look somewhere else (and spend more yen). But the overall area is really famous and worth a visit.

Great little ryokan friendly owners speak a little English enough to get by. Gorgeous onsen hot steamy mineral rich bath use anytime 5 min walk from bus stop.
