I have mix feelings about this guest house. I mean, location is great, host is super kind and helpful, breakfast is good, but the price, the steep stairs, the horrible bunk bed mattress, the kitchen and the washbasins being one in front of the other with no doors, all these made me uncomfortable while I was staying there.

I didn’t think the other comments were accurate until I stayed here. Tommy, the owner, is by far… THE most kindest, most hospitable, most humble and most loving person I have ever met. Not even an exaggeration. I felt so guilty at times because of how much he genuinely cares about his guests. He cared for me constantly when I was sick, he always brought me blankets, made me breakfast, and he was usually one step ahead in terms of how he can help his guests. The guesthouse is a small and cozy, and quiet with both an upstairs and downstairs. All the facilities are perfectly maintained and there is no rubbish or dirtiness in any area. I really cannot thank Tommy enough… so lucky I found this place.

The owner (Tommy) is absolutely the greatest and really made the difference for our stay here. He was accommodating, helped us out with figuring out what to do in the city, and even helped us order pizza for 45 minutes. I cannot stress enough about how great of a host he is and would definitely stay again given the chance.

This is the best guesthouse I've ever stayed in. It's more of a bed & breakfast style place. The whole team was wonderful and super helpful. They made delicious breakfast too! I love this place!

Tommy (shopkeeper) is an almighty King! Although the space is small, but the service is very good! Service is kingly!

Guest House Oumi is a little hidden gem in Kyoto. The owner (Tommy) and his associate who s checked us in were extremely accommodating and are awesome hosts. They gave us a map of tourist spots in Kyoto and gave recommendations of where to go for food. Overall we would recommend to anyone visiting Kyoto. The place is close to the Jr San-in train line.

We had a lovely two day stay here. Hosts are amazingly warm and helpful, room was super clean and cosy and complete with own zen garden and lots of kind and thoughtful little details littered throughout our stay. Thank you Tommy and Akemi! Jonathan. And Tania london x.

Tommy the owner is very nice and open! He will help you If he can! He even clean what you use (dishes)! And Make the breakfast for us! Everything was clean! I realy recommanded this place.

We enjoyed our stay at Guest House Oumi December 26 — December 30, 2016 and would highly recommend it! Tommy speaks very good english, insists helping us with carrying luggage upstairs and downstairs, welcomes us everyday after we came back, offers high quality Sri Lanka tea and toasted bread and helps us with reservation and diner decisions. Tommy is an awesome host. Not to mention the guest house itself. Tommy renovated the house himself, we can really enjoy a good view from our room. We can feel a sense of Japanese aesthetics in the house, a combination of modern and tradition. The location of the guest house is a 5 minutes walk from Jiro Station (2 stops from Kyoto Station). It was very convenient. Don't forget to try the Kura Sushi which is 2 minutes from the house and ask Tommy to reserve spots for you during peak hours.

The owner is amazing, the place is very clean, organized and near the station.
