Nice place with a great view of the sea. The room for two is spacious (can live four). The bathroom, however, is quite tiny.

Good place for a stop over. Rooms were tight for westerners. Service and staff were great. We had good views over the harbour. Close to eateries. Simple breakfast available.

Very good location, very friendly staff and room (sea view with private bathroom) spectacular. Bathroom a little small but for a couple or three nights it is passable. Futons comfortable and shelves charming. I Would Return without hesitation.

Good location. Clean, everything you need is there. No frills. One should keep in mind that the first ferry is at 5.45 am and at night from the island do not leave.

Loved the hotel, we were 4 people and had a large room. The bathroom is not very comfortable. There is a public onsen on the top floor.

Basically right on the water front. Traditional rooms meaning the straw mat floors you see in some temples and simple mats on the ground with a blanket. Small TV. Hotel looks modern in the lobby. Attendant friendly and helpful with questions about local attractions. Some rooms have partial water view. 2 rooms per floor look like they have full water view based on the floor plan. Only about 4 min walk to the famus Torii and like a 2 min walk to ferry station so handy if you are dragging some baggage around. Check in 3-11pm. Some local restaurants open late. Minus 1 point because the mattresses at these traditional places just aren't quite soft enough for me although my wife said it was fine. Also could only find 1 shower room for the hotel but didn't look that hard. Shower room itself is modern and nice and has toilet too so me and my wife cold do our morning routine together. Wi-Fi was very good.

A great location and a good view, but not much more to offer beyond that. Still, spending the night on Miyajima is definitely worth it!

Very friendly and helpful, this is the second time that we go to that hotel and we have always been treated very friendly. The view is amazing and is in a very convenient location.

The hotel is in the front row, overlooking the main island. The staff are very friendly and have a public ofuro with very warm water, which comes in very well to relax after a day of hiking around the island. Would definitely repeat, the Japanese type room has a lot of charm.

Traditional Japanese type Hotel on the island of Miyajima, very attentive and friendly staff and a quiet and magnificent setting. It is very advisable to try to spend the night on the island, the scenery changes much about the day.

Excellent service, wonderful, basic, traditional rooms. Very charming. Front desk knew what questions I was going to ask before I even asked them and were extremely helpful. It was raining when we visited, and they even lent us an umbrella without us asking. Highly recommend.

We booked 2 rooms though an online travel site. The rooms were as advertised: clean, traditional Japanese rooms with a good view of the street and seashore. The staff spoke pretty good English and offered guidance and restaurant recommendations. This hotel is a great value for the price and we would definitely stay again. Because the majority of lodging on Miyajima includes meals, there are few restaurants open for dinner on the island.

The view from the sea-view room was stunning. It was our first experience of a more traditional ryokan-style accommodation in Japan and we loved it. Staff were friendly and helpful. Great location. Would definitely recommend.

Lovely staying in Miyajima. The staff was so kind! And the ryokan was big and cute. The onsen was very relaxing as well. Very well ubicated (near to the ferry and to the Tori). I would like to come back!

Very close to the pier and the torii gate. Nice tatami rooms with a private washroom and shared bath. They supply all of the necessities, and the bed is really comfy!

The hotel was ideally placed between the ferry terminal and the main town of Miyajima making it a perfect base for our trip. The rooms were spacious and were well presented. Staff were friendly, helpful and spoke a good level of English. The baths were clean, kept very warm and provided the perfect way to end a day after a long day of sightseeing. Highly recommended.

We were in a room that was quite spacious for what we used to see in Japan, and in traditional style, with its yukata and everything. Very satisfied.

If you want to spend a night in Miyajima without spending too much, the hotel Sakuraya is for you! The rooms have everything you need, always in Japanese style (tatami, futon) including the onsen kit (basket for clothes, yukata and towels). The hotel's onsen is open until 11 p. M. The owners are very friendly and helpful, only cash payment.

The good: — I had a single japanese styled room with my own toilet. — Nice views to the port. — Small but nice sento. — Perfectly located, close to the port. — The staff gave me a map with the restaurants that are open after 19:00. The bad: — Nitpicking I would say that the futon could have been a bit thicker.

Great location and very spacious room for a stay to visit the famous tori. Bathroom is tiny though and this was the first hotel we stayed in Japan that didn't have a toilet with bidet. But overall, an excellent deal for the price of 13400 yen.

Very close to the gate. The ferry can also be reached in a few minutes. Japanese style room with futon on the floor. Hotel staff very nice (especially if you can;) Japanese)

Traditional, ryokan-style hotel with mat floors and futon sleeping pads. Very centrally located in Miyajima’s main town (though the town is so small, it’s hard not to be centrally located). Super convenient to the ferry drop off point — only about five minutes by foot. No breakfast included (you can order the night before for an egg, juice, and toast for $5). Rooms were very well maintained and clean. Nice to have two sinks. Bathroom was small, but with a very deep (soaking) tub.

Very friendly staff, great room. I had a Japanese style room and it was really great! I felt happy and comfortable. The bathroom is a bit small but at least it's in the room (for this room specifically). Great location too. Room has AC. There's a communal bath in the basement but I didn't try it so I cannot rate that. The locals say it's kind of a famous place on the island. I'd stay here again if I come back to Miyajima which I hopefully will.

Hotel was nice as well as the staff. However, the rooms are a bit small.

Very pleasant hotel with original Japanese futon beds and public bathroom.
Even though the hotel is not designed in the most modern and elegant style, the futon beds were a nice experience. If you step out of the hotel you are in the middle of Miyajima and have a great view of the water. Breakfast is bookable. In the basement there is a "public bath". Super friendly. Many maps available for exploring the area.

Location was great, right by the ferry and a very short walk from the shrine. The view is great from the hotel and had a traditional Japanese vibe to it. Included a yukata for all guest. Service was fantastic and they had a freshly grilled oyster booth just outside. Note that the elevator only goes to the fourth of five floors but that wasn't really an issue.

Perfect service, great room.

You can't ask more for this price on Miyajima island. The hotel offers decent size Japanese style room (ryokan), and private bathroom. The bed was comfortable and the room clean. The location is ideal, a few minute from the ferry peer. Be aware that they don't provide dinner unlike most hotels on the island, and Miyajima can be very quiet in the evening. The host provide a small restaurant guide though, and we found that the island is very charming at sun set when most of the tourist are gone.

For the price and the location this place was really great. The room was small. However, it had a private bathroom and shower. It was very clean and they included towels, which some hotels don't do that at this price. The staff were very friendly and knew some English. There was a door to get in after hours and the vending machines were well stocked. It was a very pleasant experience and a really good way to save money.

We stay at this hotel style ryokan during our trip to the Japan. Ideally located between the debarquadere of the ferries and the main monuments this hotel offers in a Japanese style, the minimum for a Japanese experience.
Our room had a sea view and a balcony on which could rest while comtenplant the sunset on the island. Although the view does not see the torii on sea sea view is nice.
Very good point for the English-speaking staff and Nice wish.
Small flat for tiny showers or a share following room types.
However overall this is a hotel that allows to enjoy the island where the horde of tourists went at night or early in the morning.
