Hotel Caneva Hotel

You have to walk through a couple of alleys to get to Hotel Caneva. We did not have breakfast during our stay here but was told it was 5 Euro a person per day. We were on the 5th floor, room was decent had a nice bed, but the hotel does not have a lift/elevator nor do they use AC outside the rooms, that being said our room was still warm even with the AC on. Bathroom does not have a fan but does have a window you can open. The shower did not have a door, water went everywhere and the tiles are very slippery. Unlike the other hotels we stayed in, at Hotel Caneva you pay the tax fee when you check in, not a big deal but just a heads up to have the cash with you when you check in.

This hotel is falling apart, from extremely uneven floors to holes in the wall. You can’t have a shower in the tiny bathroom box without the floor flooding. You can hardly use the Wi-Fi as it is so week. I haven’t even mentioned the greeting we got from a moody man who didn’t speak English. I thought that maybe the 5€ breakfast would at least be ok, but instead it was medioker at best! Stale bread, more jams than anything else and only thin slices of ham. Nothing home made! I mean, the Croissants were all in individual plastic bags too! Nothing fresh. I am so disappointed! And on an added note, the aircon is a fan in the corner of the room!

So a real good little hotel where the staff are very nice! The breakfast very well (butter jam cappuccino croissant …) the rooms comfortable and ok! Perfect for a stay in Venice! The only downside for people having difficulty walking (2 floors to get to the front desk) but sincerely I loved it! Thank you very much.

Perfect room, think of leaving the key to the home for the housekeeping spacious room, correct bathroom and good breakfast.

This is a no frills hotel, good value for money in a very good central location. The rooms have air con and breakfast is included. I would definitely stay here again, just because of the great location. The staff were friendly and helpful.

DO NOT STAY HERE! I repeat do not stay in this hotel. Bad customer service, staff will refuse to speak English and will be sarcastic. The rooms are dated (50 years dated). The windows don't open they have wooden shutters and there is no AC. Wifi doesn't work anywhere but the front desk. GPS can't find this place it will send you to a different location. I got lost all 3 nights I stayed there. Worst part of this hotel: no ac or windows and rooms very humid.

For one star over, read the reviews and was surprised by the expectation of many to meet the three star level hotel for the price. We had a room with shared toilet and shower in the hallway, there was only a sink in the room. Honestly, the impression is that the hotel room is such one-ours. In 5 days I have never got to the busy toilet, thus it is visible that clean it constantly.
As for hot water, the hotel has a boiler, so you will not get hot water immediately, you need to wait.
The reception staff were very helpful and helpful. I recommend to everyone who is not afraid of simple hotels, the more its location compensates for all the shortcomings.

An interesting option for the price and location, clean and functional Although you will not find the most romantic in the city.

Booked last minute as a layover on our way to Venice airport the next day after staying in lake garda. Was very difficult to find as hidden down a narrow alleyway. On arriving at the hotel we were met by a building covered in scaffolding which was not very promising. The reception area was clean but very dated (ripped leather sofas, dust, cracked plaster, dirty carpets) The lady on reception was pleasent. She showed us a room and asked if we were happy with it before paying… She asked us leave our bags in the 'secure baggage area' (a cupboard under the stairs) On seeing the room we were hsppy to find a private bathroom as it had been described as a shared bathroom on the booking. The room was EXTREMLY basic & dated but considering it was a lay over we stayed. After settling into the room we noticed more and more faults… I had booked a canal view room. On opening the window we were met by a very old wooden shutter. Outside this was just sheeting from the scaffolding. So no view at all. I don't see how this hotel passes health & safety!

Contacted for a problem booking because who stays is not the same person as the one who booked because I made a gift and refused the payment. Contacts on the phone did not let me speak and they put down by rude and ignorant. Recalled but systematically raise the handset without answering, repeated mail of different payment did not respond. How are they still open? In 2018, no such structures should exist.

I was treated by phone with a rudeness that I had never met on the staff of a hotel.

I had a phone-only relationship with the staff at this hotel and I have to say that I have never happened to have to deal with more rude and uncivilized people.
I wouldn't recommend it.
Ps. I would be curious to know if it is legal to propose two prices for rooms with or without invoice.

Excellent location. Tucked away behind a courtyard and very close to the Rialto Bridge. Immaculate but basic, which was ideal for what we wanted. White linen, winner! I would definitely return and recommend to others.

Worst experience in a hotel of my life, working in hotels 10 years. The first two nights we were in a refurbished apartment and everything pretty well until you cut the electricity. Then we moved to a room facing the canal, but Havia scaffolding and workers for which we moved to another room, but there were also scaffolds and workers. So volvidmos to rooms overlooking the canal, but there was no hot water. When we told the reception, told us that the boiler was on and that there was no problem, but nosotrostros for more than we left the water running, the hot water did not arrive. The receptionist/owner? More rude I've ever seen in my life, refused to go up to the room, and told us to preshow that we were off. We took the money and left. His ways leave a lot to be desired and we also saw how he treated other clients in the most horrible way. The hotel is old and with lots of problems. Avoid at all costs if you do not want to be thrown out of the hotel literally!

The place is super clean, and has most things already in the room! Good quality price relation.

Clean room, efficient Wi-Fi, but make sure there are no scaffolds for which you can not open the window… and especially building work (workmen who whistle and speak) at eight in the morning or work with pneumatic hammer at 2pm in the afternoon… Also because 70 euros a night seems well paid! Tourists in Venice also come to rest! Thank you.

Very nice hosts, quiet place, very clean and atypical. Wonderful stay in this very well located hotel.

Cheap and very well located between the Rialto and St. Mark's square. We had an original triangular room with a beautiful view of a canal and a Palace. Good plan warmly recommended for small scholarships.

Small and cozy, and very central, it is close to the center of Venice.

Moderate cost being in Venice, unfortunately the rooms are a bit cramped but well heated, for the price you can not complain.

Unfortunately our stay was not an enjoyable one, our room was extremely basic, the shower and toilet were both broken. The walls were so thin you could here someone whisper next door. The Wi-Fi didn't reach our room either.

Magical as all Venice. Good prices and comfort you.

We felt like we were in a James Bond movie with our balcony over the canal and the bells of San Marco chiming over the water.

They don't speak any other language other than Italian, the room was nice with a good view of the water, but in the morning they were restored a nearby window and made a lot of noise, and we couldn't get out on the balcony. Details…

PROS: Great location near Rialto.
Clean room with a spacious bathroom.
In General The whole hotel is pleasant and the staff friendly.
At night the front desk closes, but they leave the keys to enter so no problem.
CONS: The bedroom we had was very small (the width was little more than that of the double bed) and from the location of the electrical outlets you see it was designed to be a double and not a double.
The furniture in the room, accomplice to the size, was unsuitable (a bedside table that could not be opened, shelves under the TV that with a little ' weight (clothes on) were falling.
However since the bathroom was spacious and that there was also a small entrance with wardrobe it was not a big deal.

Very negative experience home by the gentleman more than unpleasant, speaks very badly and does not want to know anything except that it is necessary that we pay when liquid fortunately we really needed an emergency room otherwise we would go elsewhere bedding not Comfortable too soft, no curtain at the only window and outdoor spot that stays permanently lit so light in the room all night the TV did not work and the codes for the Wi-Fi were not given to us I do not recommend or so if you s can not do otherwise.

Great location, clean and did the job. A bit of an old tired building and noisy in the morning with a bunch of work being done in the canal outside, but not much anyone can do about that. If your main interest is a decent no-frills bed in a good location then this is for you. You're going to be out enjoying the city anyway right?

The hotel cancelled the reservation purely and simply. Hung up on the phone twice. Never seen such a thing. To avoid urgently.

If I could, I would rate my experience 0 Found this hotel on line and booked it for 2 nights. Received confirmation and cancellation policy staying: " You can cancel, or change details of reservation without penalty until 20 days before arrival. In case of late cancellation, request of change or no-show, first night will be charged. Thank you. Cagnato Massimo" The hotel had convenient location. We were asked to pay FOR the 2 Nights at the time of the check in. We paid in cash (100 euros per night plus the tourist taxes). There was no elevator. The room was awfully small and very claustrophobic and had nothing to do with the photos posted on line. Actually, I think the bathroom was bigger than the bedroom. There was no Wi-Fi We returned to the front desk and informed the old moody man there that we were not happy with the room and we would stay only one night. The staff person refused to return us the money for the second night, although, according to the cancellation policy, we should be charged for the first night only. He called the owner of the hotel " Cagnato Massimo), who was unbelievably rood and arrogant on the phone and also refused to refund us for the second night. We found a hotel nearby (Canaletto, strongly recommend you this place) and moved there the next morning. When we shared with the staff our experience, we were advised to report the case in the local police department (which, unfortunately, was closed on Sunday).

Very quiet and peaceful place. Rooms are alright but we got one without refrigerator and no conditioner. Very close to the center. All by walking distance. A bit noisy but not too much. The prices are great. 5 Euro for breakfast is a big plus.

It is not a palace, but clean and sufficient. Decent breakfast at €5. Perfect location 3 minutes from Rialto and 3 minutes from St. Mark's Square.

Very affordable and well located hotel, close to the Rialto. The room was spacious and clean but old fashioned decor. During the Acqua alta The ground floor is flooded and one has to walk on planks, which adds to the charm.

Cheap (50€ per room for couple per night), clean and right in the middle of centre. Breakfast which cost 5€ could be better.

Simple, clean, nice hotel with pleasant staff. Located centrally, with easy access to the major tourist attractions in Venice such as the Rialto Bridge and San Marco square. Offers breakfast, although I didn't try it.

Small but comfortable Hotel, ideally located for visiting Venice (near Rialto Bridge). Friendly staff, clean rooms and comfy bed. Only flaw (however we are in Venice so it is understandable) is the bathroom very small, however very clean.

I recommend this hotel if you want to spend little and stay in the center of Venice, without expecting a good service from a 1 star hotel.
The payment is unusual, I recommend booking the hotel directly to their phone number, they will make you release your credit card details as a guarantee and do not accept refunds (because it is always full given the very cheap price)
That being said it comes €50 per room per night if you pay in cash as soon as you arrive, and if you want breakfast + €5 but I recommend you do it at any bar (without sitting down if you don't want to spend too much).
The bathroom is so small that it enters a person barely, does not have the bidet and the shower does not have a tub to contain the water (so water all the floor). The closet is small (ours without door), our room The 42 I have to say it is very large and we did not expect it (it is isolated but close to where you do breakfast) so there is noise only from 7am to 9am, otherwise it is quiet.
The rooms are all on the 1st floor and there is no elevator.
It is a few minutes from Rialto, and there are various restaurants around them, a bancomat UniCredit and especially the coop (for those who have money counted).
I went into detail to make you understand what is waiting for you to not make you delude, but I would go back because it is a great price for the area, and we were fine.

Good enough for a couple of days if what you're looking for is a not expensive hotel walking distance to Rialto's Bridge.

Cheap, but uncomfortable.

Just the basics. But for a double room with bathroom ensuite, for €50 a night, in the center of Venice, this is well worth it.

Hotel very well located, but the boss is not welcoming and requires that the breakfasts are settled in cash and each day (we were 5 for 3 days), but deliver no bills! Some rooms are very dark because facing a wall.

The owner put charges on our credit card after we had left Italy. We didn't find out until after our credit card bill arrived a month later. We were charged for days that we had not stayed there. Be VERY careful if you are thinking of staying there! I would advise looking for a different hotel as there are lots of nicer and less costly places to stay in Venice.
