Unfortunately it's a big no. Strategic location, definitely. But nothing more than that.
With a hint of anger over a vacation ruined by certainly avoidable issues, I have to negatively review this hotel.
Our (short) stay of 2 nights started badly and ended worse: on our arrival we are greeted with a check-in performed after a few minutes of waiting at the reception waiting for the receptionists to finish the chat with his colleague.
Check-in done, Room 107, 1 piano Other information about breakfast and the like, not received.
We arrive in the room and our balcony overlooking the sea is a concentrate of stones: chairs, table and floor are impassable; rag and Rag have certainly not been used.
Patience, the time of a shower and we will tell at the reception, we thought. I start taking a shower, in a tidy but not clean bathroom and my boyfriend empties his bags, when a gentleman enters our room arriving at the end of our corridor, where he meets my boyfriend intent on fixing our stuff: How did he do it? The cleaning lady decided to open the door with their keys, I do not know for what reason! Amid the gentleman's embarrassed apology, the cleaning lady closes the door in complete tranquility, as if nothing had happened.
What if we were naked?
What if there were only our things (even of value) and we had been in the streets of polignano? I think it's the first episode, of an unheard-of gravity.
Shower over, I decide to put myself on the bed waiting for my boyfriend to finish his shower as well when I notice a blood stain on the pillow case of the pillow.
Do you want to see that even the pillowcase stained with blood? I talk to my boyfriend about it and we convince ourselves that, maybe, it comes from a wound on our shoulders or arm.
Showers finished, we decide to visit polignano; leaving the room, we notice the dirt behind the door: between accumulated dust and a piece of cellophane, we close the door and we head (rather nervous) towards the hall to complain about what happened. We see more than someone waiting for check-in and we decide to postpone our complaint until later, (to be fair) that we will do in the evening to the caretaker, very kind, who apologizes for the incident and takes note of it.
We go to sleep, between air conditioning that reactivates autonomously in the middle of the night forcing us to sleep under the duvet, with 30 degrees outside and flooded bathroom by virtue of a shower that does not close well in the lower part.
We wake up, breakfast (good, very abundant and with two young waitresses very kind to serve coffee or hot drinks), we go to the sea and around 12 we return for a nice shower, the room however has not yet been rearranged and then we go for an aperitif, waiting.
At 13 we return to the room, tidy and… Uncleaned: the bathroom had been tidied, towel (
replaced (or just folded and repositioned? ) but dirty; hair left where it was, toilet bag left where I left it and, finally, the tragic discovery: as I open the bed to check its state, I see another, different, bigger blood stain and a big black stain.
We called the reception in anger and with a courtesy that, I am sure, few other customers would have maintained we report the unacceptable conditions of the room. They ask us to get out of the room to get her cleaned up, so we do.
After an hour or so we return to the room, the sheets are no longer dirty, the floor has been cleaned and the balcony as well. The bathroom, remained dirty.
The next day ends our stay at the covo dei saraceni, where, Sorry to say, we will not return or we feel to recommend it during a chat between friends or family or to you who read this review, unless you want to sleep between blood not yours, dirty bathrooms and disservices like those you have read.
Honestly? We expected some special attention to apologize for what happened, it would have been very little: a coffee or a cocktail offered, but all we received was a miserable “sorry” during the check out.
I want to say that the disservice is always not welcome, but it is even more so if it comes from a 4-star hotel paid not really two spici.
