The Old Quarter Hostel Hotel

I am pretty much impressed by this hostel. Had meet many wonderful people here, they even give you complementary breakfast and the price they charge for this dorms is very reasonable. You might miss to notice it when you visit this hostel, its right inside " Bombay coffee roster", even the location is in the main part of panjim and I love the service they provide.

Old Quarter Hostel is very welcoming! It is combined with a Western style cafe so you can get great coffee which is also included as part of the complimentary breakfast. Locals come there for coffee and cake too. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable and enjoy helping guests answer questions. You will enjoy your stay here in this cozy hostel. The monsoon doesn’t seem so bad when you can return to the hostel common areas and chill. Nice manger even gave me ride to bus station so I wouldn’t miss my overnight bus ride when the auto rickshaws canceled on me.

Really good hostel with a very friendly crowd. They have 3 dorm rooms but only one of them is air-conditioned. So be careful when you are booking. Decent breakfast. You can choose between Backpacker breakfast and Goan breakfast.

Very nice hostel with very clean dorms and a/c and fan cooler options and lockers for your luggage, free Goan or backpackers breakfast 8:30 to 11am. You can ask the staff questions and they are helpful, bus or rent a scooters for 300 Indian rupees a day. Cafe in the hostel with tea and coffee with a cake:) with good access to bus and airport.

This is the best choice if you are looking for a cheap safe place in city area. Walking distance to bu station and market. There are many food courts near there. Also they have a coffee shop inside the hostel. The staff is really nice, specially manager.

Great hostel to stay at. Good breakfast, good coffee. Clean dorms and comfy beds, hot showers too. Good Wi-Fi makes it easy to plan and book things. Really nice staff who are super helpful too.

Very nice ambience, you can have a relaxed conversation with friends in the lower level or move to the top floor where it is also great for a short concentration work meeting. Awesome Coffee. They have a small but good selection of sandwitches and cakes too. They serve great tea too.

Cafe is lovely. Staff are great. Rooms well kept and clean. But but for me there was just something a bit lacking in the atmosphere.

I am a 72 year old solo traveler. The Old Quarter’s policy is no guests over age 35. This information is not on the Agoda booking site, but on the confirmation email. When I saw it, I immediately responded with a request to cancel and refund the booking. The Old Quarter has done everything possible to cancel and refund my booking through Agoda but their hands are tied. With my current phone service, it would cost me as much to call Agoda as pay for the booking. I give the staff five stars for handling a difficult situation with persistence and kindness.

I and my friend were in Panjim, to attend the annual Serendipity arts festival. And hence, planned a short stay in Old Quarter, only to extend it later for the whole time we were holidaying in Goa. The hostel is located in a charming corner of the capital, an old Latin Quarter displaying the Portuguese influence in its every turn. With colourful and impressive architecture, the streets always seemed to be in a good mood, as though humming a melody. To top it all, a clean and neat hostel welcomes you that has got its own vibe going, which says “the beach is boring. ” A friendly staff that is always good to help, for everything you got to know. And sometimes not minding to write it all down, for you to be clear on information. Our favourite time of the day was breakfast (included), when we would literally have the world to meet & greet! Overall, it had only been a pleasant experience, will look forward to always come by if at all I am in Goa anytime. Also guys, thank you for arranging a memorable Christmas dinner!

I really enjoyed staying here. If I go back to Goa, I'll be sure to stay here again & recommend it to others. The only issue I have, and the reason I took off a star, is the male reception worker — he came across as rude & lacking people skills. Otherwise, excellent place.

Air-con, Wi-Fi, quite trendy, full of western travelers, funky musical ambience. Good Indian breakfast available with drinkable Black coffee. (review for restaurant only). But they don't have a full fledged kitchen with dedicated staff, service tends to be rather slow. Private rooms are available from 1000indr.

Went to this place after a tired night out at the casino looking for a days sleep into their dormitory and was asked to wait for a while till the woman in charge could check if there was any dorm available, so l sat in their cafe and ordered a coffee during this time two foreigners came in and asked if there were any rooms available and l clearly heard this say that yes there are dorms available and let these two people check-in in front of my eyes, l was disgusted at this point and had decided l am not staying at this place, but I still went ahead and checked what this woman had to say and sure she being so considerate showed me the way to nearby guest houses. All I've to say is that these are the people who are bringing the disgrace to Goan hospitality.

The location of the hotel very good right in the heart of Panaji and nice place around to check out and to take photos and the main thing is the wall painting on the side of the building is one of the best and beautiful to see and restaurant and service is also good. Overall best the truly enjoy Goa.

I am removing one star from my five star review of 2016 because of the argumentative woman who just called me and found it impossible to say, "ok, thank you, we will check it and email back an acknowledgement" when I informed her I already emailed my passport a month back since I do not wish to travel with it but received no acknowledgement. Apparently it is another person's job to check emails at Old Quarter and it is only her job to make this confirmation call from Jungle Hostel. Why does she not recognize that she represents the entire company when she speaks to the public? In the hospitality industry, the onus is on staff to work together to serve the public rather than disavow responsibility for your end of the contract. Dear Jason, what kind of management guru is teaching your staff that it is ever ok to pick an argument and hang up on a customer who has visited annually since 2014. Thanks for this payback for my loyalty and referrals. I'm going to stop recommending The Hostel Crowd chain to friends.

You can even make some amazing friends from there; which for me turned out to be the most lovely memory of my weekend trip.

Very smart-looking, modern hostel. I would definitely recommend the AC room given the small price difference, as they were nicer as well as cooler. The entrance to the hostel is through the cafe, which is very well put together and a nice place to chill. The location is good, walking distance to all the main attractions. There is a water cooler behind the reception which saves money and plastic in terms of filling bottles.

A very nice place to stay. I like the way rooms have not much except beds and locker under the bed. And white rooms with this minimal looks spacious. Bathrooms are in shared basis particularly in this dormitory area, however very clean space. I loved my experience of staying there in the dorm. Cafe area is good for long hours sitting, without any disturbances, you may sit there any hours of the day or night. Ambience of this cafe area is very beautiful. This section remains open 24 hours, good snacks and coffee, tea to enjoy. Good Wi-Fi. Upper section of the sitting at 1st floor is also good with an art gallery kind of atmosphere. They do offer space to exhibit artwork. The place is situated right in the middle of the old city. Very nice, calm place. They have separate locker space also if you need to check out early and don't want to carry your luggage.

Amazing place in the heart of panjim amidst the old portugese houses. Good for solo travellers. Very clean washrooms. Friendly staff. A fun place to stay if u are ready to share the room with unknown people of different countries. Budget friendly.

One of the best places to stay in Goa! Located right in the heart of the city with charming interiors, clean rooms and a very hospitable service. The gluten-free, sugar-free and dairy-free granola bars in their cafe are a must try!

This is a great hotel! Ideal to meet other travelers. The hotel is really clean and the staff is top notch! ==> But I remove a star because of the receptionist man who is just the strict minimum and with him I go from nasty surprise to a nasty surprise.

It's a wonderful place to stay in, rooms are full of sunlight (I stayed ac bunk beds for 6), a superb cafe Bombay Coffee Roasters, a internet surfing/sitting/book reading/ be lazy space upstairs, superhygenic by houskeeping staff, front desk staff is okay kind of… need to upgrade themselves with hospitality professionals (louisa you are very kind & helpful not to forget) the best part is just 10 mints walk from panjim bus stand. Most pocketfriendly hotel yet upclass crowd who comes in for stay or so. Girls if you are travelling only GIRLS groups or alone this is best place you can choose to stay here. Unknown room partners but that's perfectly alright!

Don't go here for a meal. Go here if you want a non alcoholic drink and desert or if you need a cool. Workspace. It's also a hostel, a really really cool one.

I totally love this place. neat, clean, tidy, cozy, beautiful.! small but ideal. i just wonder why everyone is so quiet there. overall — loved it.

Be aware of booking through the phone as they never make real booking. I called and booked a room with two beds and attached bathroom and when arrived they gave me a room with one big bed and shared bathroom with other rooms bedside that Its clean good service and tasty food also the price is good.

I liked the location as it's near Madovi rivier, near to Bus Terminus and near to Market. But, I would not stay at the Hostel in future nor recommend to my friends and family. The reasons are as follows: Just one common washroom for 8 people (4 in each dorm). No slippers provided. No doormats. No basic toiletries provided, need to rent a towel. No shelf or cupboard provided to store your luggage, instead a grilled box is provided (people can see what's inside! ) for which I guess you need to have your own lock or may be that's also rented. No public hot and cold water dispenser provided. Never opt for room on ground floor, it's on main road and it's too noisy. Reception area has a cafeteria, so use the alternate lobby situated on first floor (I never knew about this as receptionists never told me that the lobby is upstairs) and it's mostly used by backpackers from 1st floor. Some how I felt it to be a weird haunted like place with all serious faces around, the hostels that I have stayed in India and abroad before were very welcoming, friendly and cheerful! I chose this hostel after reading that it's in Fountainhas, the only Portuguese colony in India (and may be Asia too), I wish I knew that there are other staying facilities in the same or nearby locality.

It's nice until you realize there are bed bugs. Good internet, comfortable bed. But bed bugs. Fan only rooms are hot at night. To be fair only found one bed bug in our bed. Still… One is one too many.

Was just spending the day in the city and they happily looked after my luggage. Spent about 2hrs there doing some research etc. And seemed liked great place.

Terrible customer service. My cousin and I booked a reservation for 5 days 2 months before we were supposed to check in. A deposit was meant to be paid and we were having problems paying for it via the website, however we were assured by one of the members of staff that we could pay the deposit when we arrived to the hostel. I corresponded with this member of staff twice prior to my arrival to Goa and he still claimed that I was able to pay the deposit on arrival, however when we reached the hostel he said our reservation was cancelled because there was no deposit. This contradicted everything that he promised and on top of that tried to make it look as if it's our fault. He was very unhelpful and didn't offer us any solution but to check into another hotel. Luckily my cousin and I managed to find a cheap hotel nearby otherwise we could've ended up anywhere. No care and no help.

The place was tastefully done up the location is great in the middle of the historic district. Breakfast is just right. Everytjing about the setup is a 4star. However the staff was very indifferent. The male manager (Dan? ) Was too busy to get our geyser hot Water fixed, too busy to get the bathroom cleaned or give us towels and room maintenance was not done as he kept our keys but forgot to tell the maid.

Staff and the cafe was really nice and the late night security guy was very friendly and helpful on arrival. The main building is really nice and modern where the dorms/deluxe room is but unfortunately we were told we were staying in the other block which is a 5 minute walk down the road. This building is very old with basic facilities the sheets were not clean we had a dead cockroach in the room and there is a hole in the ceiling where at night you could actually hear rats! The Wi-Fi hardly ever worked in this building and the air con leaked water onto the bed. This should be made more clear when booking as the pictures can be abit misleading it's such a shame because the main building has a cool vibe and would have got a 5 star if staying there.

All though I have not personally stayed at OLD QUARTER, but have inquired over phone and thru email for one of my German friend coming to Goa for the first time. Guys here were prompt, responsive and caring, The feedback from friend is fantastic. He liked the tourist friendly environment! Cafe and the best thing is LOCATION.!

Nyc place to stay totally worth the money. Good breakfast, clean rooms n I loved the common place for chilling.

Value for money. Our room did not have an attachment bathroom. Breakfast was average but the quantity was enough. Room was clean.

Go Solo… Such a Nice Place to Stay, I stayed 3 nights in March 2016. Good Staffs, Good Breakfast and Wi-Fi.

Very nice place to stay and hang out. They have couple of double bed rooms with private toilet, but most of them are rooms with 4 beds and shared bathroom. Pros: 1. Nice, clean, spacious rooms. 2. Good facilities, Wi-Fi, hot water, luggage room, books, magazine. 3. Very nice common sitting place / lounge. 4. Awesome location amidst heritage buildings. 5. Helpful staff. 6. Can keep luggage after checkout at 12 p. M. And pick it later. May use common facilities, e. G. Toilet, lounge, etc. After checkout. Cons: 1. Little costly (though not when taking the location in account) for hostels. 2. Need to book online. 3. They ask for passport for booking even for Indians.

A travelers cafe! Quite a new look to the the good ole concept of traveler Inns, warm homely food and cosy accommodations. This is a book worms haven.

I stayed there for 2 nights in the month of March 2015. Make sure you get there before 10pm and bring a lock. I had no reservations, but was lucky there was a space in one of the rooms. The lady at the reception desk/cafe (w/Wi-Fi) was wonderful, very friendly and helpful. Every staff person, including the night guard, was a delight, always smiling. The rooms and bathrooms are very clean. They will give you a towel. Drinking water is always available at the cafe for free. They have it ready for you in a nice carafe. You can also ask for ice. There's a second floor with a modern and comfortable sitting area. There's a computer available at no cost. They have a map of the city available at the reception at no cost with many suggestions and tips. Breakfast is included! And it's delicious, if you love Indian food, of course. You get it, even if you wake up late. They serve it to you promptly, warm and fresh. Enjoy it!
