It's an overall nice place with nice roof top… small parties of 50 people can be easily arranged and accomodated.

Good place to stay in budget but at top of the building so lift is only the option to go up and down. Rest all were good.

Prime location and old fashioned large rooms with grillless open windows with matching simple bathrooms. On the whole it can be understood once it had been a good hotel. Even now the atmosphere is good. But lack of maintenance has taken its toll with dark lift unclean lobby and reception and shabbily dressed staff. The place needs an immediate facelift and round the clock watchman cum lift operator. There are two fabulous Mirchi restaurants in the ground floor serving excellent food and drinks at right price.

Simply put, avoid this hotel like cancer. I booked the second best category (deluxe suite) room in this hotel and still I have to speak this. This hotel, is a mess! -The room is in 4th floor but the elevator does not stop here. So you got to go to 5th floor and then use staircase for 4th floor. -Room is nothing less than a prison. There's absolutely no window! You feel like you have been punished by keeping in isolation. — The central AC has no temperature control (can you imagine this?! ) You can either switch it on or off — The goibibo app showed a photo of a rooftop restaurant, which in reality doesn't even exist. On this, the staff tells you that you are getting room service as if it's a favor being done I have stayed in hotels ranging from 400 to 20000, but this one would be last in my list especially because of this airless cellar type rooms they have made. Pathetic!

Everything is great. But they should repair their lift… if some heart patient is staying there I should prefer stairs instead of lift.

As always, I enjoyed a great stay at the ITC Sonar! The staff are very welcoming and do an excellent job. I want to especially commend Varsha for meeting me at the entrance with the paper work, and walking me directly to the room. After a long day of traveling, I greatly appreciated this courtesy! We were given a room which was full of disturbance from 9 am to 6 pm as renovations and construction work was going on… Other rooms were vacant but they gave us that room as we booked through a travel agent… Breakfast and food and hospitality of good quality. We had to go out deliberately on our 2nd day as cannot stay in the room due to loud conversation activity… in all not a good experience Thank you for making ITC Sonar your home during your visits to the City of Kolkata. Though it's a old one yet worth the money. Food is good. But the reception is in 5th floor and rooms are in 4th floor and for the 4th floor lift is not available. Very funny.

Great Value for money hotel (for budget travelers) very near to Gariahat shopping centre. Spacious room and bathroom with lot of sunlight. Very helpful and courteous staff. Prompt room service.

Located right in the heart of the city at gariahat, this hotel is a hidden gem. It is located on the fifth floor of the building. Right beside it is a restaurant cum bar, Mirch Masala. The pre-booking services rendered by Amrita was par excellence. And a heartfelt thank you to Neel, because of whom the check-in was really smooth. The rooms are quite spacious and well-maintained. Overall, definitely one of the best options to stay in Kolkata.

Good food … Good service Location is very nice and near to shopping places We had their 2 days and conducted conf meeting… Good quality is good and hygienic. Management is good…

It was good to stay. Every staff members of the hotel is good. Value for money.

Worst service. Filthy upholstery. Improper drainage in shower areas. Toilet seats mismatched thereby causing massive discomfort. Do not stay here! DO NOT open the mini fridge! I've taken dumps in the woods with more ease than in this place… Not a metaphor.

Affordable hotel to stay in, located in the market area which is gariahat, service is good and staff is also helpful.

A difficult to spot from the road. Otherwise everything okay. Helpful and prompt staff. Neat and clean rooms.

It was a great stay. Good for short term stay. Allows unmarried couples with valid id proofs of each. But whatever happens do not eat anything. The food was garbage and expensive. Other than that, very friendly staff and quick room service. Breakfast is complimentary on booking from OYO.

Decent hotel for short stay. Limited menu options and breakfast options. Totally enclosed hotel. Very low ventilation. Otherwise good for a short stay.

Nice place. Gd staff and the best thing is that unmarried couples are allowed there.

Roof is a good place to host parties. Food is good.

Average rooms with rubbish accommodations. The staff is rude and the room service is worse. You don't feel like staying in hotel at all. It gives you the total feel of Dharamshala.

Nice rooms. Location is good. But once u are in its a long way to get out of the building which is very inconvenient. For example if ur rooms happen to be in the 4th floor u have to climb to 5th floor to get the lift. Stairs not available which make it risky during emergencies. This is a big old building given to different companies for running their business, like hotel on the top two floors. Also everything is priced heavily. Foods provided are not worth the cost. Nothing other than the rooms is good. Service is fine. That because they don't have enough guests to serve.

Comfortable and very nice.

If you want to just crash and not bother about the decor and design. Only saving grace is big rooms with helpful staff close to Gariahat.

Good location, decent rooms, quality of which could be better.

Walls need paint. Ac needs remote. Better hotel facade too. But the place has ample of sweet kolkata touch. Rest is yours to judge. :)

Good hotel on a superb location.

The placemark for this property is wrong. Currently it shows up south of Gariahat crossing, towards gol park, somewhere near banchharam's shop. It should be north of the crossing, left from pantaloons, in dover place, between mirch masala and park plaza.
