We — me, my wife and pet dog had been looking for a place to stay in Wayanad for a while. The pictures of Annapara homestay looked very calm, relaxing and in the midst of nature so we booked it.
The cost was Rs. 7200 per night with just breakfast.
When we reached there we found that the room fan was barely moving and making a loud noise. We spoke with the staff and requested them to get it fixed. That didn't happen at all. They did give us a table fan instead.
The area is well made, great aesthetics and the pool is also nice, even though it is full of algae and frogs, tadpoles… it is meant to be a natural pool.
My main problem with Annapara was the quality of food. When we travel to homestays we actually look forward to the food as it is mind blowing. I've had huge spreads of amazing food at most places and this was a big let down. They served us very basic or below average home food. And even the number of dishes was very limited in each meal. While Kerala cuisine is something we love, we got a very generic tasting food. So we opted to drive 20 means and get food packed from the town nearby.
Plus the coffee was terrible as it is made in the same water in which they boil a herb to make it healthy. So while you're in the middle of coffee plantations, you get really bad coffee to drink. And it's not even filter coffee.
For this cost, the rooms are not in great shape, the lights and fans are an issue and the food is definitely not worth it.

Annapara is a lovely beautiful property. We loved the cleanliness of this place. Special thanks to Shibu and Praveen who made us feel more than welcome. Food here is absolutely delicious and cooked with a lot of love by Ambili. Our pet enjoyed himself here and it felt like home. The place is in the midst of tea plantation. I will be going back to Annapara on my next visit to Wayanad.

I don’t usually write reviews, but I’m moved to write about my visit because it was just lovely!
I visited Annapara at the end of July. It had been raining nonstop the previous few days and continued on for the first two of my three day stay. That was a treat! I was with a good old friend that I hadn’t met for years. The rain lulled us into a peaceful, nostalgic mind space perfect for catching up on each other’s lives. We sat on the porch sipping hot water boiled with a special herb that helped keep us healthy in the monsoon wet atmosphere. It made the water pink and tasted faintly like sarsaparilla.
Annapara was full of special touches like this. We stayed in the newer guest cottage designed perfectly in keeping with the concept of using local materials. Roughly hewn granite columns, red terracotta roof and floor tiles with skylights, generous verandahs, interesting layout of space in the room, an extra loft bedroom…and some of the rooms were the original homes of the tea pickers that had worked on the tea and coffee estates, renovated to very comfortable contemporary standards. The friendly and hospitable staff took good care of us, from answering questions, taking us out for walks in the rain with umbrellas (they really wanted us to see the waterfall, but we decided to stay home), showing us tea and coffee shrubs and pepper vines to providing the most wonderful, authentic and delicious Kerala cuisine.

Came in on 29th April. Saw the place. Beautiful scenery and lovely people like shibhu and praveen. Kind and caring for the people. Pet friendly place. Breakfast is really good. Have a badminton court and a swimming pool that is filled by a river but is purified and keeps flowing to the plants. They also have a 2 to 3 cycles. Many restaurants nearby. They also take us for a walk to the tea factory if you ask them to. Would love coming here again.

My friends and I stayed here for 2 nights this week (November 2022).
In many ways, this was the most rejuvenating and enjoyable experience till date.
ACCOMMODATION:
The quality of the accommodation was truly excellent. The rooms are very clean and comfortable.
We also loved the fact that each room is clearly customised and tastefully decorated giving it a rustic and truly vintage effect that reflect a unique style that is quintessentially Zafar.
The quality of the bed/mattress is also very good, ensuring a comfortable, good night's sleep.
Each room comes with its own bathroom and hot shower including basic toiletries, towels and bathmats. Excellent location of the cottages promise you spectacular views while you sip on your tea or coffee in the verandah.
FOOD:
The homecooked food has always been EXCELLENT and more so this time. The hosts are very receptive and ensure that your wishes are accepted in terms of food choice and preferences cooked with a very refined, delicate and balanced diet of Pure Vegetarian, seafood and poultry.
HOSPITALITY:
Zafar (owner — happen to be there) and his trusted and friendly lieutenants — Shibu & Praveen's hospitality made a huge difference: welcoming, warm, generous and very real.

Amazing place. Awesome hosts. Virgin nature. Hygenic food. Words not enough to describe the place and the hosts. Self cooked food by the hosts and served with lot of love, we tend to over eat. The breath taking view of the mountains, property surrounded by coconut, berries, coffee and tea Plantation. 3 nights stay feels a little short. Amazing place to spend some quality self time and just be with yourself. No electricity hence light available through genset from 6 pm to 10.30pm which itself is a blessing in disguise. Will certainly want to visit again. Kids just fell in love with the natural water swimming pool and the hammock and the rocking chairs and the nature walk and the food and everything. Thanks to Rajnikant Sinojiya to introduce us to this place and the hosts Praveen and his family for a memorable time.

Annapara home stay is on a hillock from where one enjoy the panoramic view of the valleys & forest.

A great getaway. A short drive from Vythiri. Ensconced in a sprawling property featuring tea gardens and plantations of coffee and spices like pepper and cardamom. The rooms are cosy, and well kept. The dining area an absolute pleasure, what with a little badminton court, carrom, and a tiny library with books for all sorts of age groups! And the swings and the hanging platform to sit on. A genset provides electricity after 6:30pm. Otherwise, they are not connected to the power grid. So, the kitchen staff, Ambadi and Vilasini, make the food from fresh, local produce. Even the spices used are ground using the traditional stone grinders. The taste is absolutely fabulous! Shibu and Praveen take turns in staying over for the night. They are always there to take care of the guests personally. And that includes your pet! Praveen also happily plays a bit of percussion on the beat box. They go out of their way to help with anything you need. From being your concierge in renting a car, to explaining the cuisine. Don't miss the walk through the property they take you for! Not only were we very happy and relaxed, our dog wanted us to stay back, refusing to come back!

Spectacular Kerala food in a lovely, quiet part of vythiri.

Was a brilliant place. And also the people who take care of Annapara were really sweet. The best place to visit when you actually want to have a break.

Not a good place to stay. No electricity. No connectivity.

I have no words to express my gratitude to everyone behind this beautiful home stay. Yes in the midst of green, a tiny cottage with five rooms and a long beautiful verandah. We went during the month of August and the climate was good. Not very rainy but have that cloud all over the sky giving a complete nostalgic mood. I took my parents along with me and this is the most cozy trip I ever had. You will meet Mr. Shibu and Mr. Praveen who will take care of you from the moment you reach the house. Then it is like your own home. The cottage is not a luxury resort style but a simple home stay. There will not be electricity at certain times, but you have candles and then authentic food prepared and served fresh. They don't keep it in the fridge because there is no electricity all them time. So you have delicious food and a great stay. I would say YES if you want to book this property for your vacation. I guarantee there is nothing like you would regret. There is a dining area beautifully set in yellow lights, wooden swings, badminton court outside, and a landscape viewing area outside, and natural water filled swimming pool. A highly recommended spot.

It was a nice stay at Annapara. Two things that make Annapara amazing besides ofcourse God's nature are the hosts (PRAVEEN & SHIBU) and food. We stayed from july30 to aug1 and along with us, someone who enjoyed to the 'maximum' was our pet Max. though I would like to give a five star to this place but at times felt the need of electricity in this eco friendly place. but truly nice place away from the city chaos, beautiful nature, healthy food and above all the soul of Annapara… many thanks to shibu and praveen for their friendly, helpful hospitality. will love to come back again in the estate of tea, coffee and spices.

Quiet place. Ecofriendly that is electricity from 6pm — 10 pm only! Which doesn't work at all especially in summer! Maintaince is bad. Pool is filled with scum algae! Need some cleanliness! But Praveen and shivu served with much hospitality! Place could do much better!

Peaceful place. No no for a family with small kids. No power except between 6pm-10pm is the biggest drawback.
