Backwater Farmhouse Hotel

Its a nice place with stunning aesthetical backwaters view. Their way of treatment to us was really polite they listen to everything we say and do accordingly. There were also some kind tourists from other countries and we interacted a lot with them. It was a new experience for us.

It's a remote location were you can't reach by public transport, you need taxi or autorikshaw. Its a very silent and less air and sound polluted location where it's surrounded by water.

Run by a very nice family. Location is a little off the beat and track. But surroundings were beautiful and food they provided was amazing. Rooms and kitchen were both impeccably clean. Would have been five stars if it wasnt for all the plastic pollution in the backwaters. This, unfortunately, is a problem all over Kerala. There is tonnes of plastic litter in every beautiful location, which is a consequence of there being no solid waste disposal system anywhere in the state. Whatever you do, DONT BRING ANY PLASTIC TO KERALA WHICH YOU’RE NOT GOING TO TAKE HOME, because anything you leave will inevitably end up in the backwaters, streets, and seas.

Houseboat tour with food and overnight on the boat. Great scenery, lots of birds, by boat through the backwater and to the Arabian Sea. We were alone on the sandy beach (with fishing boats), the water was perfect.
After the tour, one of the two boat men took me to the village. We were at a vegetable farmer, then a "shop" of wooden boards with tobacco, vegetables and ballpoint pens and with his family.
In the village are all very friendly, especially the children are happy if you can speak a few words of English.
Then he dragged me into a bar in the jungle, a corrugated tin hut in which the male villagers with fermented coconutmilk the edge. There were tapas: tapioca and mussels with coconut.

Neat and quite place to stay by the backwaters away from the tourist frenzy.

It's one of the best experience of my life. Very relaxed vibe. Friendly family. Good food and a breathtaking view of the backwaters.

This was my favorite place to stay when my wife and I came to India. It took us away from the business and chaotic life of the city and into this amazing peaceful world of India. The Back Water Farm House is so located off the beaten path from the highway and into the peaceful and spiritual area just outside the sea side. You hear nature all around you with just the hint of cars in the distance. The river in front of our bungalow is filled with beautiful birds like the sea eagles, King Fisher, herons, huge fruit bats, ducks, and many more I couldn't identify. Food is farm to table and fresh. We were greeted by Manu whose family has owned the property for decades. Manu was awesome, generous, welcoming, and very helpful. My wife and I even went to the local Ayurvedic Center and had an amazing massage that took us to another world. There's a local referred to as "Boat Man" who took us down the back water canals and taught us about how the grow rice, raise tiger prawns, and raise fish. I highly recommend this place if you want to see the peaceful village life of southern India. You will not regret it.

This place is magical! Manu is an amazing host, and his entire family is very helpful with anything you need. He arranged a boat tour for us, and it was very educational of how the locals sustain themselves in the area. He also suggested an ayurvedic massage at a nearby ayurvedic clinic, which was very soothing. I wish I was staying longer! It the perfect place to come and do absolutely NOTHING!

We choose to do the backwater house boat trip with Back water Farm House, because they are the only company offering this tour on boats without an engine. We read about the pollution engine boats are causing in this area and decided we didn't want to add to that. The was amazing! We had a private boat with three boat man. They were sailing the boat the traditional way with a large stick pushing us forwars. These man used to work in the cargo boat industry, but lost their jobs when motorised boats and trucks came to Kerala. Now they continue to use their skills, but only this time in tourism rather than shipping cargo. The boat man were really friendly and explained a lot about the area. We were in a secluded area and didn't see any other house boats along the way. We got a meal served aboard. One thing to improve; Be sure to make it very clear when you're a vegetarian. I asked the owner several times whether we could get a vegetarian meal. He said it was okay, but they still served us fish and shrimps. Except for that it was the best experience!

I spent three weeks here and have very fond memories. Manu and his family are lovely people. A very special place, off the beaten track. Love to you all, I will be back I hope!.

Had a great experience at Backwater Farm House. A pleasent stay was offered by Back Water Farm House. A Homely Care with a friendly atmosphere and a great service. We had a pleasent time spending through the farm house. The concept encourages the homely atmosphere and tasty food. Personally recommend the food. Because it was too delicious.

A tucked-away, cozy and homely heaven-on-Earth. The food is great too. Whether you spend an evening by the backwaters, or you take a ride on a houseboat — — every experience is an enriching and fulfilling one.

A quiet place to spend a peaceful vacation facing the backwater. Only drawback is no tv.

We both had such a great time here! Manu was extremely helpful in all aspects of his job, he was able to give us ideas on what to do with our time, he was able to organise transport for us (including to and from the airport which was extremely helpful) and was great company too! Not to mention the beautiful variety of food that came out from the kitchen. We absolutely suggest eating at home!
We cannot wait to rave about our stay here to all our friends. Thank you so much.
