in our room on the 3rd floor there was hardly any Wi-Fi reception this but is also the only thing that comes to mind
for a 3 star hotel it definitely exceeded my expectations and I would spend anytime back in Matala Bay my holiday.

Newly made dining room. Has become very beautiful. Much more choice for breakfast than last year. The evening buffet has also improved. Only the mattress in the room was not so good. Rooms were very clean like last year.

I was initially offered a room in the Annex which is not what I had booked, then the standard room I was then given in the main building was more like a cupboard than a room. The reception lady did not seem to understand the concept of allocating a room as per what is booked, her attitude was disgusting and told me she does not want to help me but just get on with her day. It was a very bad welcome to Matala. There was extreme unpleasantness from hotel staff and in particular this female member of staff who checked me in and was very rude and horrible to me and her behaviour towards me throughout the time I stayed there was disgusting. For example, on the 2nd day I said politely that I was waiting in hotel reception at check out time incase my travel agent can move me. She said "Good I do not want you to stay in this hotel either. Also, when it became apparent there was no possibility back for money back for early departure she started laughing at me when I went to the room with my suitcase saying "You have to stay here, you have no choice I'm so sorry hahaha" The Hotel room allocation policy is very misleading and be aware there are many different standards of rooms at this large hotel with a few buildings. Dinner seemed to be for everyone, not just those who have paid for half board which is very unfair that I paid extra for it. No staff member was checking off guests in the restaurant. There were no vegetarian options — I did ask the hotel on Facebook prior to arrival.

Place to avoid absolutely, very rude in general and specifically not prone to the craft they would like to do (they respond badly and if necessary they forget English). Place for Germans (all TV channels are in German to understand us). Poor breakfast sad and insufficient, dinner even worse if possible (a first, a second, both of bad quality, eg. Spaghetti in white without oil and ragu aside more like cat food than a sauce).

We had been fixing the Matala Bay for a few months and when we arrived they sent us to another hotel… Ensuring the usual quality. Instead they sent us further … At the Hotel Harmony. Significantly worse. The one who accompanied us to the "new" structure looked well to show us the room… He even had the air conditioning operated by the hotelier! Be wary of Matala Bay's seriousness.

Basic hotel with a basic room and smalle bathroom. Nice swimming pool.

Matala is a nice place with a nice beach and this hotel is perfect for when you want to go to the beach and dont want to walk to far.

Quite well placed, close to the sea and the city centre. The room was average, single bed glued, bathroom smelled musty and narrow. Pleasant and responsive staff. Breakfast varied but really a pity that there is no more "homemade" especially for fruit juices.

My wife and I are here for the second time. Staff as always very friendly. Room fine. You have a bed to sleep in, a wardrobe, a bathroom, a shower, a balcony. Eat plenty and plenty. Good drinks. We are here for vacation and want our fun. We'll be back.

Room small but clean, do not expect any service, impossible even to have a coffee outside breakfast. The evening meal takes place in a lower hotel. Only positive, a big nice dog… much more than the humans working in this place.

Decent place for short stay.

The Matala Bay Hotel is one of the hotels you can't recommend to anyone. The 3 * * * Touted by Germany are not eligible in any way whatsoever.
In particular, the guesthouse on the opposite side is simply in a miserable condition.
Furniture belonging to the category bulky waste. Door locks that can cause serious injury. Lack of shower curtain, missing or dismantled storage in the bathroom… The pool at the hotel has a filthy Speckrand, on the floor lies dirt… The outside shower lacks the cover on a drain, there is a hole (danger of injury), to the right of the pool you can see a metal plate (cover of the filter system) which is bent at one corner about 10 cm upward (also danger of injury), everywhere sprouts Weeds, the lawn at the pool is unkempt… The tables on the outside are unkempt (on the plate Lackrisse, partly large area) … Forms consequences. Quite noisy both from the street and in the rooms. In the baths there is a direct connection via a vent shaft to the neighbouring rooms, a conversation with the neighbors goes superior;) Of course you also get all the Klogeräusche very well!
This shaft also runs the Ungedämmte drain pipe from the overlying rooms.
The rooms are bare, the beautiful flowers in the rooms-photos of the hotel are only available in the photos of the homepage.
Typical Greek fat food. Unfortunately, there was no fish. Vegetables were overcooked.
The coffee from a vending machine lousy. The house cocktail lacked the cream listed in the ingredients. The pool bar had already closed at the end of October.
No recommendation.

I had a room in a side wing which I didn't actually book. The staff were very friendly and helpful. This was my fourth time on Crete but such an unfriendliness has never experienced in any hotel in the world. It went as far as the hotel director wanted to deal with me physically. After that my holiday was gone and unfortunately I could not be on the fast any other hotel that it was in August and in the high season. 2 other families who were coping with the nerves because of the plant. The breakfast was OK. Pool facility a disaster.

After room change all good. Shopping facilities and beach within walking distance. Value for money is good. Reception is slightly undercooled upon arrival.

Friendly staff Every week they arranging live music night! A lot of fun and dancing. Nice cocktails at the bars.

Family friendly Hotel, quiet, very affordable, neat and spacious room, very convenient balcony. Staff to the small care! Kitchen made with local products.
Fresh water pool with shade around.
Good location in Matala, close to the city center.
Good traditional music groups are happening at the hotel.
Ideal for any stroll from the south of Crete.

Family hotel with new renovated rooms. The reception is modern and the staff very friendly.

Hotel is not deserve for 3 stars.
— food was really bad there.
— no even water with dinner — You need to pay extra for every drink with meal.
— no wentilation in toilet what made dump.
— Tv channels (7) in German language also signs was German.

An unhappy hotel in a happy seaside town.

Fantastic hotel. Family run and they are wonderful, very helpful and friendly. The food, views, cleanliness and location are fantastic. Already planning next stay here. Thanks guys!

The bosses are pretty little polite. The bathroom was really small and the shower, too small, was very uncomfortable and the bathroom flooded with every use! Breakfast quite disappointing but on the other hand very clean.
