Disgusting service. Do not warn about paid parking, and also charge extra money for bedding. In the end, the underwear was paid, but it was never given away.

When they came there was no underwear and towels. The lamp in the room doesn't work. There's no cupboard. View from the window to the construction site.

More "Hotel" than "Hostel"This was really more a place for young children and groups of teens. As a young female solo backpacker, I came here hoping to meet some amazing people, but I didn't see any other backpackers the entire time. Everyone here seemed to be on vacation with suitcases, young children, etc. The actual rooms are clean. You have to pay extra for bed linen and towels but I didn't mind that. The rooms are very bland and much like another reviewer stated, "prison-like". I wish I hadn't stayed here. It's also pretty far out… about 25 minutes from the Alexanderplatz via Tram. I wish I had ultimately booked elsewhere, since I stayed 3 nights, 4 days here.

The only good thing is breakfast. Otherwise, there is not any praise here. Front desk staff is outrageous and rude in an unacceptable way. The drains of the sink and shower do not serve their purpose.
. The rooms are unreasonably small. There is only a small closet in a 6-room room. The elevator is full of chewing gums that stick everywhere, not just in the elevator. On the eighth floor there is a window broken, which can no longer be closed (students are accommodated in the room). A tradesman, caretaker or similar could not be organized. (And on a normal working day).

Since the house is under the administration of A & O, the quality suffers very strongly.
Over the last few years, unfortunately, this could be experienced every time you visit.
Despite everything, the house is rather quiet (depending on the hostel's visitors) and is available at relatively reasonable prices.
The staff are friendly and make every effort to have an open ear for the guests.

It's a nice hotel. I liked the way. Across the road stops, tram tracks are close to a 4 minute walk from the hotel. Everything is very convenient!

The room was soo dirty. There was a lot of dust everywhere, even on the blankets. I stayed here one week and they never have cleaned my room or changed the towels so I have asked for them but they said I couldn’t have a new one. Even if the hotel is cheap I’m sure that I will never come back.

Very clean and great value for money staff were very very helpful and nearly all spoke English.

Wenn man ein günstiges Hostel/Hotel sucht ist das Kolumbus genau richtig. Vor der Tür liegt eine Bushaltestelle und die Tram M5 und M6 sind wenige Gehminuten entfernt. Das Kolumbus liegt in Hohenschönhausen. Ca eine ½ Std vom Zentrum entfernt. Im Allgemeinen war das Hostel sehr sauber. Die Mitarbeiter an der Rezeption waren immer freundlich. Ich werde sicherlich nochmal in einem A&O übernachten.

I didn't stay here, I only rented a bike for a day. The bikes worked fine, no complaints there. The employee who served us was didn't seem in control. He would try dealing with multiple customers at a time without finishing off with one because of what seemed like an incapacity to maintain order and authority. This caused the transaction to take 20 minutes longer than it needed to. In spite of this, he was kind and patient, perhaps just inexperienced.

Good foot to the ground to visit Berlin.

The Hotel is large, centrally located in the city and with good options of dislocation everywhere. The rooms are simple, with short beds and small bathrooms. Breakfast and dinner are respectable, but nothing spectacular. Respect for the price, the hotel is great.

Recommended to 20min the center.

Clean and friendly and an “ok” location. Cheap alternative for low budget travelers! you wont regret it!

For a short break super accommodation. This also applies only to the double or family rooms. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was very friendly. Breakfast was also varied and very good. Lots of choice of buffet…

Very spacious room. However, there was an additional bunk bed in the booked double room, which was not in the room description. The door to the bathroom was also a glass sliding door, which could have been saved as it had no effect (no noise reduction). The door was also out of the rail so it made a not so stable impression. But was quick to fix itself. All in all, however, a very satisfying stay.

Price is really great! We had nothing to complain about. The room was a good size, the bathroom looked almost like new. One, two dust places, but not worth mentioning! The breakfast was reasonable and an unexpected large selection. And very nice staff! Bus and train almost right outside the door.

Cleanliness of the room left to be desired. Quiet location, good accessibility mostly to the car. Parking at the hotel costs additional but is recommended, as otherwise there are hardly any parking spaces in the area. Breakfast was reasonable for the price.

I read that it was a sports hotel. Don't know this term. It is a better hostel with good room service, nice staff in the lobby and ample, varied breakfast. Easy to reach by car and with the M6 quickly in downtown.

Rooms within normal, a dinner of M * * * *, Seguratas touches eggs (one of two meters that backs), in reception some rude. Very good breakfast.

The rooms are good here, especially for the cheap price. The food wasnt great, but thats easily fixed by not eating dinner here, breakfast was still quite good. 4/5.

We went on a trip a marriage and a child… The family room we booked was quite spacious, with two beds attached and a bunk bed… I had a bathroom and it was clean. The towels are true if you want to be changed you have to ask at the front desk, but every day they went to do housekeeping and no problem. The Wi-Fi worked properly like the TV. The receptionist was very young, it is true that they only spoke English and German, but we did not walk very far to understand with us… The truth that we stayed 5 nights and we were very good. If it is true that to get to the center you have to take the M6 or bus, but the bus stop is there and the tram does not reach 5 minutes walking. You have a shopping center nearby that has everything… if it were again I would book the same site, it was very economical and even if you are not within the hustle and bustle the city has a good public transport connection…

Nice rooms but the food and service can be improved more.

We stayed at the weekend for a night at the hostel. It was very nice, the staff look friendly and always trying. The room was very clean even under the bed and there was no dust on the cupboards. The breakfast was also awesome again it was all there needed. Our children also felt very comfortable. There is only one thing that was not so great… there was a group of guys with us on the floor and they were very noisy at night the doors were running up and down the hallway… therefore only 4 stars. Apart from that, we were otherwise very much at peace and look forward to the next time.

Hostel is close to the public transport and quiet in a residential area (unfortunately currently — February 2018 — a construction site next door, on which also on Saturday is worked) bathroom not quite clean (hair in the sink and in the toilet).

Very good value for money, if you want to have the all round package you have to pay much more. The rooms are spacious and equipped with the needed, clean and satisfactory. The breakfast is very good.

Was already a second time guest in this hostel for the price perfectly OK however not outstanding. The staff was friendly however, the cleanliness in places is only mediocre. In addition, the shower cubicle lacked a door so you can quickly put the whole bathroom under water and the beds are relatively hard. I can't make a statement about breakfast.

This is not a hotel, but rather a hostel! The room is not snug ( ( (But clean and linen is normal; there is hot water in the tap. It's not tasty ( ( (… Technical or what?! From the center on foot to put it mildly far, went by tram. On the way to the stop there is a shopping center, though all shops close in the 20h, which is very early for us) ) ) )

The hotel was fine although most of the sheets weren't clean when I got to my room. Breakfast was very delicious, lots of options which you can choose from.

At the normal rates it is an OK hostel. Clean, low budget, friendly staff. We've been there for Silvester, which bitte than doubled the rates, and that was too expensive. The breakfast is also cheap and rather low quality, but depending on available budget and importance of breakfast OK. It's 7 Euro per adult and 3.5 per child. The walls are thin, so depending on the neighbours it can be loud.

My 200 euro was stolen here. So here's my story: I paid to stay in this hostel for 2 nights (23 and 24 Dec 2017). When I checked in, everything seemed fine. I met two of my roomates, they were both VERY friendly and both of them were friends to each other. One of them told me that I had to pay in the receptionist to get bedsheet (the receptionist did not tell me this when I checked in) then she offered that she could get the bedsheet for me, for free, because she has connection with the receptionist (and to this moment, I believed her). She went downstairs and really got the bedsheet for me, she said since she was the one who took it, I didn't have to pay. I was thankful and we had a chat for awhile then I went out for a few hours. The next day in the morning, I took a long shower (40 minutes) and since the room DOES NOT HAVE lockers, I just put all my stuffs (including my bag) near my bed and took shower, thinking that both roomates were still sleeping. When I came back, they were awake and laying on the bed playing with their phones. After that, I went out to the city. When I was about to purchase something, I was shocked to see how many cash I had. I always write down every transaction I do. I noticed all my 50euro notes were gone. And I quickly made conclusion that my roomate (s) did it. Why? because other than shower that morning, I ALWAYS had my bag with me all the time. And last night when I went out, I know my 50euro notes were still there.

Price performance fits. For the money you can no longer expect. It is not perfect but it is clean and convenient.

For a city trip more than perfectly fine. Old slabs were renovated and made from the Apartments hotel and hotel rooms. Stupid is only one can not book parking in advance (€5 per day), but are very limited available, booking only at the reception at check in possible. Otherwise you have to park your car in the surrounding streets (long parking).

It's just awful, not a foot in there!

Nice Hotel and good service.

From the front, the A&O looks really good. But if you look back out of his room, the old slab-type charm comes to the full advantage. The rooms are functional but not modern. The staff is friendly, even if it is hectic at breakfast.
The connection to the public transport is not so good, as the bus only runs every 20 minutes and the next U-or S-Bahn runs for 11 minutes. Thus easy 30 min to Alexanderplatz.

Actually 5 stars, for what you could expect. Even better on the spot. Family room very clean. Staff super friendly and rooms already got around 10.

A hotel for young people. Modern and friendly rooms, a good breakfast without excellent specials, but normal people find all what they want. You need public transport to reach the centre of Berlin, but the frequency is good. For children there is a football kicker and a playground (but you must pay for it). Price for bed and breakfast was excellent. We will come back in the future ;)

We had a room in the 2nd floor. The room was clean and the bathroom too. Breakfast was also good. Check In was quick and the check out was even faster :) Many thanks to Ms. Stacel and the guy that works in night. They were very helpful and kind. There were a lot of school classes in the hotel, but the security could provide for quiet. We are happy to tell we want to come back again. Best Regards Anna & Solroen.

Clean, tidy, friendly staff, good transport links, and incredible value.

We were there twice, twelve years from each other, and both times we had a very good time.

It was quite interesting, with the different nationalities of the groups of young people. It is a youth hostel/hotel so there can be a bit of noise sometimes, but you can expect that. It is great value for money and great for kids.

I stayed in a double room, it was sufficiently clean and spacious, the value for money is good. Breakfast is not included and costs 7 euros. For these rooms they provide lenziola, blankets and towels.

Nice hostel with very good price performance ratio. The staff is very friendly, the rooms are okay and clean and the breakfast is at a usual hostel quality level.

Clean good breakfast but brilliant.

Great value for money. Clean, modern and above all quiet: no late night disturbances. Perfect stay for sports teams interested in a good night's sleep before competition the next day.

Positivissina experience, in Berlin between Christmas and New Year.
The hostel is nice, convenient to reach by the N6 tram, 15 min from Alexanderplatz. The dorms are well organized, clean, but you have to bring you sheets and towels, if nom you have them give you with a surcharge.

We found ourselves booking this hotel a few months in advance, finding the rest of the hotels already full.
Located in a highly peripheral area, is accessible (from Alexanderplatz) only and exclusively with 30 minutes by tram (M6) and 15 min on foot, I got off at the Stop (Genselerstrasse).
Rooms combined in two by two, with private bathrooms but outside, so the risk of having a chance with unknown people. Occasional and poor cleaning and services (drying, bath foam etc) not included during the stay.
The staff were very helpful Hard to find someone who can speak in English.
All for €50 per night per room, so quality/price is absolutely not recommended.
A big disappointment and a waste of time for travel. Recommended.

The staff is absolutely outrageous and the security exaggerates after a night's sleep at 22: 00 immeasurably with the volume control. When some noise, the House rules must be written off.
There was lively beetle in the cereal at breakfast.
4 rooms, fourth bed consists of a drawer that can be drawn under the bed, the same price has to be paid for this.
Initially the sink was constantly dripping on the ground, this has been fixed thankfully after a day.

A cheap hotel in a quiet environment. A shopping centre with pharmacy, shops, restaurants etc. Is in the immediate vicinity. Also a discount supermarket is nearby.
I was with a group there, which was accommodated in shared rooms. As for the price, nothing was to suspend. For me not comprehensible placing the Group was distributed in different rooms on the 8th floor, so that at night a lively back and forth on the course took place. Other groups were spread over the floor instead of contiguously to accommodate them. This called for strong security. Because a lot of young people in the hotel were housed, it was indeed lively, but it was in the frame, so that at night, the peace was ensured. The security there certainly had a part in it.
The staff were all very friendly and always trying to find solutions to problems. Problems with the water, came after a short time the janitor and repaired the shower.
The workers were housed in spacious single rooms where the suites at all, hide not behind other hotels rather on the contrary.
In the breakfast room, the tables were cleaned cover if the Group had eaten. It was always ensured that the buffet had always the full offer.
Therefore I can not understand in hindsight, why the hotel part has received such bad reviews. I, for my part, was very pleased and happy to be back.

I had read the many negative reviews of the hostel and was surprised how many of them were not true. You must be of course aware, that's here is not a luxury hotel, but a cheap accommodation in Berlin. The rooms (equipped with bathroom, TV, double bed and bunk bed) for 4 people was sufficient, if you would like to stay there on all day. They were cleaned every day roughly. The cleaner could have something more thoroughly in the one or the other place.
The service at the hotel was very accommodating and supported, if there were problems. So, for example, the kitchen was open longer, because our group came a little late for dinner. The offered breakfast buffet was very good (various drinks, fresh bread rolls, many varieties Edition, yogurt, fresh fruit, …). Warm meals in the evening I would have liked some more selection/inventiveness. For the price category was absolutely fine.
The nights in such hostels are often slightly restless by the many young ones. Here, the used security was keen however to ensure peace.
Overall, I would book again this hostel for a group trip, because the price / performance ratio.

Itself quite nice. Bathroom could be cleaner. Shower anywhere in the cracks very dirty almost already natural. Beds comfortable. Very little space in the closet. Little electrical outlets in the room. View total crap… Connection to the tram ok. What is also very negative there are too few parking spaces available. Find that it is not really running hotel it is supposed to is just a hostel. Can find no suitable prices. Not enough outlets in the rooms a too small cabinet when sleep 4 people in a room no space in the closet. Breakfast average. Staff can say not good morning so not really friendly. We won't be back.

Not suitable for young people.
Most of the rooms are small, dirty, stuffy, unfashionable furnished & decorated. The Windows can only slightly open, while pipes produce continuously much heat. So it is hard aushaltbar hot in the rooms
The bed is small, & most are also covered in stains. Even the bedding has spots (in my case blood) on. Some were totally broken with out broken slats, old run-down chipboard.
In very small spaces, there's no air conditioning, the televisions are ancient and are awfully small.
Night's sleep there is already at 22: 00, & Brink in every floor, who understand a joke, enforce them, by all means.
The bathrooms are also small & dirty.
The location is okay so far. As well as the food, even if the Division, who must eat when, is complicated.
The staff of security up to the reception, is unfriendly.
My conclusion: a cheap temporary solution if everything else were occupied. The food has a star & the situation deserves.

Nice Hotel with great Breakfast and friendly staff.

We are with a Class here and I must say the rooms are similar to the cells in a prison. The window can, if they work at all, only tilt, the rooms are much too small and usually dirty or covered with mold. The “Ceilings“ are cushions for the garden chairs, the covers are generally dirty and the bathrooms are no more than a nuisance, it is also the staff very unfriendly. My recommendation: Rather than a broom closet, rather than ever go back to this Hotel to enter.

To little TV and to sleep in 8. Stock ever climb stairs.

We were on a school trip there. The rooms were quite small and one has a right to an asylum seeker Wohmheim watched. Not really recommended.

I found everything in the whole In order, as much. I just find it a shame that the rooms are not uniform.

Budget hotel in a pleasant and quiet part of town. I did not like that they do not have free Wi-Fi.

We were there with a School group and I must say that it is the worst Hotel in which I ever was! We had about five of us in a triple room! We were then told that no other rooms more were free, but the room next to was empty! This is a not tolerable fact! We had a week in a confined space to live together, we only had one bathroom! The staff is absolutely rude. I would not Class recommend there under.

Very friendly staff! The rooms are clean, large, quiet and well equipped — it has nothing missing and I felt very in good hands felt. It was perfect.
