Beautiful but renovation-deprived ambience, unfriendly service. Unfortunately, we had a waiting time of more than 90 minutes at not even half full restaurant. Food tastes good, but not above average, prices are set too high.

Great food and we got a history lesson from the owner when we were there. Very nice atmosphere and personable staff.

I was fairly pleased with my meal, the service was good. The English menu has a lot to be desired. A bit on the pricey side for lunch.

Food OK but too long wait. 3 Course lunch Menu took over 90 min. Waited 30 minutes for the appetizer soup. Food tastes good but portions are big enough.

Stay was OK — but not more. Strange floor-plan, cheaply made new rooms in a old building. My room was very small and the bathroom was so small that I hardly could turn around in the shower. Wifi/Internet did not work in my room — when I called the desk, I was told that my room was at the end of the corridor where this can happen — nothing was done to solve the situation. This was unfortunate — since I needed internet to prepare for a presentation. Unfriendly staff at the breakfast buffet.

Now that I have been able to spend at least one night a week in the warm, authentic, historic hotel and inn for more than a year, it is a matter of the heart to recommend this location to all. If you like historical hotels, this is the place to go. They are not up to speed with latest anemities and not luxurious by any means. Some of the rooms ate quite small. Good value (and location) for money, though.

Very friendly service only a little slow, my potato soup was a bit too little spiced and I found a piece of plastic in it. Atmosphere Pleasant only the elevator music I found a bit annoying.
Prices not adequate.

Typical Darmstadt restaurant with Südhessische cuisine. Excellent. Very clever service (multilingual), the boss comes in person after dinner and asks for satisfaction.

Nice restaurant, fancy way of presenting food. Moreover, quality maintained throughout. I am posting a photograph of dessert which won my heart and food.

We were here for the Dine & crime. The food was delicious, the waitress friendly. The separated room is very well suited as a stage for the piece.

Pure disappointment!
We were not for the first time on New Year's Eve dinner at the restaurant. Unfortunately we had a service force that we have known for a long time, which was completely occupied with the clearing of the empty tables. We were six. Long waiting times to order a drink. The restaurant could have had double sales. The waiter was extremely rude! The food of two of our group was just fat and tasteless. A pan with 3 steaks and fried potatoes. Despite a generous amount of drinking money, no New Year's wish, let alone a farewell.

Sehr schöne Lokalität, gutes Bier, freundlicher Wirt, leider etwas wenig los aber meine Freunde und ich hatten eine schöne Zeit! Gerne wieder!

A wonderful restaurant with a traditional atmosphere and good cuisine. Almost in the heart of the city!

The hotel is at a nice place in the heart of the city. Every is reachable by foot. The building looks old from the outside, but impressive, and even older from the inside. I had a very small room in the side building. Everything looks as if it was build after the war. The bathroom has the ugliest, uncharming, brown tiling that you know from your grandma's house. There were a few bugs running around but I didn't look at the closer to deter of they came from outside or the disgusting air filter. When I arrived, the reception forgot something and called me in my room. The ringer was so loud and disturbing that I didn't recognize it as a phone ringing but the fire alarm. The breakfast is okay but I can't recommend it. For 12€ you can find something better in the vicinity. There was coffee or tea, three kinds of bread/buns, butter, a few cheeses, little meat and a small fruit salat with joghurt. Nothing bad but also nothing special. There were a few fruit flies around the salat. All in all, I can't recommend it. It was expensive and didn't provide any service worth that price.

I come here once a year from USA this is the highlight of my trip I look forward to it all year especially the goose around Christmas. Always get the house special you won't be disappointed. The sauce (gravy) is better than the 5 star place my wife worked at even she agrees.

Entering with high expectations because of requimentions, I was soon let down. From the classic dusty deco I should have known what was to follow. The gentleman that waited on us was kind but the metallic taste of the hefewiezen was not. I thought I would try a simple dish because it was served with a traditional Hessen green sauce (Grüne Soße). When my dish came out with the sauce in a cup, simi-warm beef with a dry matte finish and potatoes naked as a Jaybird, I knew I was in for a complete let down. That was exactly what I got. Unseasoned, overcooked​ Frankfurter​ bland potatoes, and dull sour cream and parley mix which I could hardly call a sauce. Enough said.

Very nice hotel right in the middle of Darmstadt. The food is very good. The people in charge are nice.

Very nice Restaurant. Typical Hessian ambience and dishes. The lunch menu is tasty and inexpensive, but the Portion for a grown man is quite small. Maybe it was just so delicious that I didn't want to stop eating.

Beautiful ambience, attentive service and good food. We once had matjessalat (daily dish, my wife tasted very good) and once Heinerburger, which you have to like, gratinated with hand cheese is probably not for everyone. I found the combination of it with green sauce delicious. I'm sure I'll eat again.

We were with the whole family in the restaurant eating and once again we will be definitely not. The restaurant itself is ok, but the service was very unfriendly.
When I asked whether you have bright, the waiter told me with unfriendly mine "You don't like to read what? " and pointed out with the finger on the menu myself.
Then he wanted to turn pretty offensive 'the recommendation of the day' us. When we then each ordered something else, he said the knuckle would take 40 minutes, because all those would have to wait. Of course get some then bad and would like to order something else, he wanted to give one but no time to consider and said "take it the recommendation of the day, is really very good! " Eventually we gave up, and that was the mistake. Because we had to wait still over half an hour for the food, and the recommendation of the day cost twice at the end, as the desired haXe (he has not called us just in case the price).
So it was an impertinence from front to back, we definitely never go there.

The rating relates to the Restaurant, the Hotel I can not judge. We were too fifth in the Bockshaut eat. Zusammendfassend is the result is sufficient. The Reasons: 1. On the question of the reservation if a dog could bring them home was not responding. Only the telephone demand showed that this is possible. 2. The competent waiter was so busy that we are about 4 minutes had to wait until we get to the place were sent. Also the maps have been carelessly laid on the table. 3. The recording of the order is done only on our request. 4. We had about 1 hour on our food wait, without the cellars us asked us to gedudelden or else a further drinks order. We also had the feeling that different guests with different priority have been served. 5. The Essten was excellent and is recommended in any case. 6. Price-performance-Wise could be the quite superior price be acceptable, if the Service would agree. In sum outweighs with us the bad Service, which is also the good food not rid can. Possibly. The Restaurant is outside of the peak hours better to recommend.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner were very tasty!
Unfortunately, the room does not meet common standards and is far too expensive in a country
Guest House I would have paid up to €50 therefore arguably the advance payment upon arrival.
The parking garage (for € 8) announced in the hotel information, unfortunately, was under renovation, the alternative at the Luisen-center cost € 25 then!
This room (Nr. 35) should only be rented again after a thorough renovation!

Nice staff, Nice location.

I was with my 10-year-old daughter again in the Hotel Bockshaut. I was for one night (on the weekend) 128 € for quite a dark double room will be charged. In addition, there were 9 euros for Breakfast per Person. A children's rate was rejected, with a note on it that it is the last room had acted. The conversation with the owner was unpleasant. I can already in other reviews described arrogance only confirm. The location of the hotel is very centrally located, but that may be the unkindness in the Service does not make up for it. The Hotel really is not (any longer) is recommended.

The house exudes a kind historic Flair, and the good-value rooms, I felt as is not very big, but quite tastefully decorated. In contrast to some other Hotel, the room was at arrival, the already toasty heated. At all for me, the staff is friendly, respectful and accommodating treated. The price level of the restaurant is a bit upscale, but according to my experience, not unreasonably.

It would be better if the restaraunt administration improves their service as one of the waiters seems to be extremely unfriendly and impolite. If you call yourself "restaraunt", you should pay attention to the client service or just call yourself an 'eating bar''' but not the restaraunt where traditional German dishes are served. I was together with the group of PhD students from Giessen, we had a big group and our coordinators gave us the menu in the morning in order to choose the dishes and then we had our lunch on 16.00 after the guided tour through the city. It was my small mistake and I mixed up number 3 and 4 menus and when the waiter came, he gave me the salat. Then he returned and asked who ordered Schnitzel, I agreed. He just stared at me and said that in this case the salat was not mine and it was my mistake (of course, such kind of mistakes can't be forgiven). He then told the Chinese guy from our group pointing out at me and telling: "ABER SIE HAT IHR SALAT GEGESSEN" (not even diese Dame or diese Frau as Germans usually say). It's unbelievably impolite and rude! It was really unpleasant to be treated in such a way. The place that appreciates its clients should just order this small not-tasty-at-all salat to my groupmate, despite the fact that I mixed up the numbers of menus in my head. I think that getting money from more than 25 people in 1 hour can help them find additional 2-3 euros to serve the salat.

The single rooms are not necessarily large, but useful set up. The house itself exudes a cosy, old-venerable Charm. The Breakfast buffet was well stocked and there was something for every taste. The staff was very friendly. The menu sounds very tasty, but I had unfortunately no opportunity to test it.

My friend and I often have to Darmstadt travel and have some time before the Bockshaut discovered. Since then no other Hotel more consideration! Classic, well civil ambience right in the city centre and yet quiet! Central it is virtually no longer. The rooms are for 3 star absolutely great and that the Restaurant offers a beautiful style with the Flair of past centuries, tasty and inexpensive food from the German and Hessian cuisine. At Night it offers itself to the rich Breakfast buffet to take. In the summer the courtyard to do this, even as a beer garden used, which with vines covered and a small oasis. The host told one, if you like, you also like something about the Tradition of the house and the city, since he is still a true Darmstadt. The staff is friendly and helpful. We are already looking forward to the next visit in the Bockshaut.
