My son and I just spent 11 nights at the balsa surf camp and we were completely blown away … it was incredible. Not only were the staff very kind and helpful but the food was amazing. We tried a few other places in Montanita and down the beach and nothing compared to the food at balsa surf camp. Delicious, fresh and creative. The positive energy in that area from the people and the environment was very relaxing and I thank them for creating such a beautiful place for people to visit. Wendy Poppen.

This place is a little far from the center. It has a very relaxed vibe and very good food for all preferences. Worth a visit!

Excellent site. Rustic and pleasant Atmosphere. Away from the bustle of the Mountain but close enough to walk (10-15 min). Very close to the sea, greenery, peace, good food… Recommended to go with family or friends.

Balsa Surf Camp is amazing! Superior hospitality, incredibly delicious food at a reasonable price, and direct access to the beach at Montañita. Best food we ate in Ecuador. Try the ceviche, pina colada, veggie burger, and mojito. It’s a tranquil oasis next to a thumping beach town. We don’t know how to surf (and didn’t attempt to learn), nor do we enjoy racious night life, but we absolutely loved Balsa Surf Camp. The ambience is tranquil and rejuvenating. You can pop into Montañita — a 10 minutes walk down the beach — any time you want for the discotecas and bars. We rented a car from the Guayaquil airport and made it to BSC in under 3 hours without hassle. Private parking behind a locked gate included. The accommodations are super cozy with hot water, fresh towels every day, and a cool ocean breeze for easy sleeping. Use the staff as a resource for planning area day trips. They know locals to contact. Julie hooked us up with a great tour operator out to Isla de la Plata at below market rate.

Excellent location and attention. Price chord. Very good breakfast options. Excellent decor and atmosphere. Spacious room, a little warm because it has only a fan. Safe and recommendable.

A natural paradise in the hills the facilities are beautiful.

Nice hotel away from the craziness of the pueblito. Chilled atmosphere with pleasant hosts. I would recommend staying here and would be quite happy to return sometime. Nicely laid back right on the beach with good choice of food and drink.

Awesome place for everyone!

The staff were friendly and helpful. They lack warmth. But the room they delivered us, very dirty. Bed full of stains like semen. They never cleaned the bathroom or the dumpster. The bathroom does not count with shelves or floor to put the clothes on, it is also dirty.
I recommend not ordering room on first floor. It's very dark and humid.

An excellent meal and a very pleasant stay, plus a super surf classes, no doubt a recommended place for everyone, including parking at no cost.

It is very cozy for people and quiet.

It is a nice place if decoration is very chord, the service is very well the breakfast included is spectacular.

Best place to be: very cool design, the owners made this place truly amazing. Nice rooms, nice social areas, great staff, perfect ambiance in a wooden/bamboo hotel. I recommend it to anyone looking for comfort, ambiance and good vibe ;)

Beach towels, 24x7 reception is something I appreciate here. The rooms are very clean. The interior courtyard is colourfully arranged with local pans. A great place to stay.

Mi hija y yo siempre disfrutamnos de ir, sobretodo por la ubicación perfecta cerca d la playa y lejos del ruido fiestero. Además el desayuno es delicioso con ingredientes típicos de la costa. El servicio al cliente es excelente!
My daughter and I always enjoy going, especially for the perfect location near the beach and away from the party noise. Also the breakfast is delicious with typical ingredients of the coast. The customer service is excellent!

I stayed here about 4 years ago and had the time of my life! Every day, since that time, I dream of returning to the Balsa Surf Camp. Everybody was amazing, and I cannot wait to return (4yrs later). What a great memory and I consider them family still.
