The best place in San Jose, too kindness and too safe.

Nice place to stay and very affordable.

To flee, false description, scam. I booked a "12m2 room overlooking the gardens" I found myself in a squalid basement in a tiny, ultra noisy, windowless room. No water so toilets and showers closed throughout the building. And … no water in the pool! In short, a big disappointment at $ 30 and no discount despite obvious bad faith. It is a tourist trap, restaurant and bar are excessively expensive, in short to avoid! para huir, descripción falsa, estafa. Reservé una "habit…ación de 12 m2 con vista a los jardines" Me encontré en un sótano sórdido en una habitación diminuta, extremadamente ruidosa y sin ventanas. No hay agua, banos y duchas cerradas en todo el edificio. Y … no hay agua en la piscina! En resumen, una gran decepción de $ 30 y ningún descuento a pesar de la obvia mala fe. Es una trampa para turistas, restaurante y bar son excesivamente caros, en resumen, para evitar! à fuir, description mensongère, arnaque. J'ai réservé une "chambre de 12m2 avec vue sur les jardins" je me suis retrouvée dans un sous-sol sordide dans une chambre minuscule, ultra bruyante et sans fenêtre. Pas d'eau donc toilettes et douches fermées dans tout le bâtiment. Et… pas d'eau dans la piscine! Bref une grosse déception à 30$ et aucun rabais malgré la mauvaise foi évidente. C'est un attrape touriste, resto et bar y sont excessivement chers, bref à éviter!

It's nice outside but rooms is nothing like on pictures. Also there is no shelves or curtains in room and you myst always head to reception to open parking lot. They do have hot showers but no hanging clips from inside, guh.

Typical hostel. Clean enough. Bunks have privacy curtains, lights, plug in for phone. Baths are clean. But always noisy. Nice little bar and outside area.

Place is very sketchy looking, but that's doesn't bother me. When we first arrived, they gave us a bedroom that clearly looked liked it hasn't been thoroughly cleaned in years. I sat on the bed for not even 5minutes and began to scratch all over, which is a clear sign of bed bugs. Bathrooms were also dirty and in addition to that, Wi-Fi doesn't reach all the rooms. They also offer a free breakfast that includes three pancakes and a few pieces of papaya. The papaya was good while on the other hand, the pancakes were so raw and gooey. They make you pay for a side of eggs, bacon, etc. Which I can imagine are just as bad or even worse. Overall, the only positive thing I can say about this place is that the people are kind and it is fairly close to the center, but I would definitely not come here again. *currently scratching.

Very affordable, very nice. Clean, pool, pleasant atmosphere and staff.

Not to recommend who you want to meet until early you will nourish the morning and next door drives a train that also drives it the night and makes very good use of the horn!

Very ordinary feeder for the price. The "dorms" contain a lot of bed (12) and there is a lot of noise during the night. However, the atmosphere is warm and we have access to a swimming pool.

Comfortable for traveling thru for the night. Good food. Excellent price.

I didn't stay there, but we had an event and there was room for dancing, swimming, and everything. It was nice.

Nice hostel with relaxed people, multiple shuttles to city and airport. Staff is helpful and hard-working! 1 kitchen and nice meeting area — good for solo or small group travellers. Pool, clean room, free breakfast, nice atmosphere, I will come again.

Very nice, quiet, cheap facility with pool, hammocks, lounge, outdoor bar and opportunity to cook. Typical double beds, with me 8-bed room, breakfast was okay.

Love this place! The space is great for meeting people. Everything is very clean. Only negative I would say is only one of the bathrooms is nicely updated the others could use some work.

Bad toilet very small rooms for the price they charge, lots of noise and in the night smells like they are smoking, also the area is very careful.

The place is nice, is well located, has a pool, and blah blah blah… But for me it lacks wave… He's short of life. T give a paper to have breakfast and it is quite small.

Great hostel. Chill when we were there but they advertise it as amuch more exciting place. Great location and great bed set up. All you'd want from a hostel minus ac.

Overall a really nice hostel and a great value for the price. Good location not far away from downtown San José, breakfast included and the dorm beds have spacious lockers power outlets (AC and USB). Pretty garden which is good for chilling out and a bar with seriously great staff where you can easily get to know others. Wifi is sometimes a bit slow.

Amazing place! Fun and relaxed atmosphere. You can meet people from all over the world! Nice and friendly staff. Always clean everywhere. Big kitchen outside and a great bar and restaurant with a variety of food and drinks. Conveniently located close to the centre of San Jose with clubs, bars and restaurants nearby. Great place: hammocks, swimming pool, netflix — clean kitchen. Coffee all day. Beds not top but hey, enough to sleep.

The hostel was lovely, in a well placed location just outside the central road. I had quite a basic room which was located in a downstairs area with small windows, but the other rooms seemed much nicer! The bathroom wasn't always very clean but the rest of the hostel was.

The location is good but it lacks much to have more stars. The people in the kitchen have a bad predisposition for everything. The mattresses are very finite and we were touched by cold days, when I went to ask for more coat they said they had nothing because the hostel was full, neither a sheet or blanket of more… Weird thing. They lost the paper from the towel depot and we were half an hour waiting for the money back. Also the hostel has bar and it is very noisy, they were the 1am and I kept listening to the cries of the people. The kitchen's fine.

Cleanliness could be improved. Male restrooms are inconveniently located. The train that passes nearby makes an unbearable noise early in the morning.

Hotel first price. Noisy. Very friendly staff. Ratio/quality price correct.

Spent a week here last year, and was blown away. With how cheap this place was, I expected a lot less. Its close to many attractions throughout San Jose. Museum is literally around the corner. Rooms were good, pool was nice, and the on site restaurant was super handy. Would and will go again.

Great people. Great place. Beds have privacy curtains and rooms are big. They have their own bar and restaurant and pool. Super price.

Good price for the stay and airport shuttle. Nice pool area and bar. Could have got more for breakfast.

Good location near the trendy resturant and government areas of San Jose (although it doesn't look like it at first, you have to walk a few blocks). Stayed in a private room with a fairly comfortable bed and there's a small but nice pool, plenty of lounging space inside and out, and a bar/breakfast area. Mostly young people around the hostel and the staff (who speaks English and Spanish) was incredibly helpful in calling a cab, helping with directions, making recommendations, etc. One star off because it's right near the railroad tracks and the combination of that plus the fact that a lot of the rooms are on busy common hallways means that you have to be a fairly deep sleeper to get a night's rest. Wi-fi in the common areas is quick but your milage will vary once you're in your room. Snack and beer can be bought from the front desk, there's no shortage of communal bathrooms and showers, and there's a shuttle to the airport that can be arranged and they're even reduce the price if you split it with several other guests so make friends!

Really happy with this place. Stayed there on 2 seperate occasions. Great for the money. Location isnt great, but there are easy ways to get around. Thank you for your service and hospitality!

Be careful here. My backpack was stolen right from the dorm room and I believed it was an inside job based on timing, etc. Also, it just happened to be an area that their camera surveillance didn't cover. Additionally, they put so much chlorine in the pool during my stay that my new hair color turned green. They never remedied the situations which just made it all worse. I'd never return here. Just wanted to pass along my experiences. There are other options in the area. Happy travels!

It's a bit of a 50/50 here. The atmosphere is very nice and it has some great relaxation areas (little mattresses, sun loungers, hammocks) but the room itself was actually pretty basic for the price you pay. I found the actual hostel not really worth the money you pay for it (I've stayed in nicer for a LOT less). However, the bar and restaurant serves a lot of decent choices of food and there are a good selection of drinks and snacks to buy throughout the day. So in summary: the rooms/cold showers are super basic but the relaxation areas are great.

Ive just spent 6 weeks in Costa Rica and about 2 of those weeks in San Jose staying at this hostel. Costa rica backpackers has been nothing but a home from home for me in this time! The staff are so incredibly friendly. Christopher, Mary, Alfredo, Natalie, Brenda, Israel. All the cleaners work so so hard, day and night and are always smiling. Free coffee/tea, a lovely clean pool, great open kitchen, restaurant/bar and a great atmosphere throughout. I couldn't recommend it more. Thank you for everything! Chloe.

It was ok… well, it was good.

Very good place not expensive ($12-16) Wi — Fi available and close to downtown (10 mins walk). Noisy train, but the convenience is there. P. S there hot water… You just know how to use the shower!

I consider it as one of the best Backpackers.

No hot water, very bad Wi-Fi. But the worse is the noise of the train! Felt like it ws about to go strait into the hostel.

I stayed here in August of 2015. Front desk staff weren't super friendly but the rooms were clean and a man from the office helped me plan how to go rafting, get to La Fortuna, and a guided hike for a very reasonable price.

Was over a month at the hostel and without any risen the owner sad the don't want me there anymore have to get out of the room didn't even let me look for a other Hostel RUTE /UNFRIENDLY / DISRESPECTFULL/ ps WATCH OUT SOME ODER PEPOLE GET VALUE DISAPIRE AND THE OWNER DONT CARE! GO BETTER SOMEWHERE ELSE.

Fairly easy to get to, room was clean, pool and kitchen were nice. If you arrive by vehicle make sure you let them know and they will give you an ostrich parking place behind the hostel. Very nice perk.

As always in this sector traffic dense.

It seems very interesting, no yard, old dirty and ugly. Nothing to do.
