Charming lodge in the middle of nature & the middle of town! Would you like to see capuchin monkeys in the morning, playing on the hanging bridge that leads to your hotel room? How about howler monkeys in the trees outside the reception desk? How about having the chance to live in a jungle while being able to walk less than 5 minutes to the center of town? Do you enjoy having the chance to chat with native Costa Ricans about their beautiful country? Then this is the place for you! From the moment you check in, you will feel right at home. Every evening, we chatted with Abigail, the lovely front desk receptionist who arranged fabulous tours (we recommend El Bosque night animal watching tour and Selvatura Day Trip to experience hanging bridges/butterfly house/hummingbird garden – both, especially Selvatura, were great) and suggested great restaurants – our favorites in town were Sabor Tico and the Tree House. Not only was she a fountain of information, she was delightful to talk with and became a friend. Rogelio, the morning front desk receptionist, was also very nice and helpful. Fernando, the breakfast server and night bartender, was also charming and made us feel most welcome. And did I mention the delicious complimentary buffet breakfast? It's full of variety and very tasty – I especially enjoyed the fresh tropical fruits. The location is ideal – only 5 minutes from the downtown area with restaurants, shopping, and a don't-miss spot, the Monteverde Orchid Gardens.

Check in took 45 minutes to an hour. Location is neat, but our sink would drain onto the floor and the shower would only pump cold water. Will not be back.

I love staying in here is peaceful and quiet, beside it has great prices and good installations. The breakfast is really good also.

Amazing value can't believe the price for what you get. Feels like it's in the rainforest but short walk into town. Lush vegetation and views surround the cabins.

Close to the city centre and in the jungle at the same time, I even could observe some animals from my room. Affordable and to consider if you are passing through Monte Verde.

I'm stunned by how low the cost is to stay here, because it's an incredible deal. We had a small cabin tucked into the hills and it felt like we were secluded in the forest. It came with two large beds and enough room to really stretch out and relax. The front porch had chairs to sit in and try and catch a monkey or sloth out and about. Even better, it's close enough to the town you can walk out and explore a pretty cool city. Very much enjoyed my stay!

Great hotel, it feels in the middle of the jungle but we are within walking distance of restaurants and shops. (5min) Pleasant staff, you can book activities directly with them and transport is included. Clean and well-maintained room. :-)

Walls are paper thin (could hear people next door snoring, peeing, and talking), absolutely no amenities, rooms in disrepair, bugs in rooms. Only plus was the location (close to downtown).

Awesome place. We were a little sceptical after reading some other reviews, but this was really nice. Have good privacy from other units. Nice staff. Good breakfast. In the middle of town if you want to get something from the supermarket.

Great hotel, very cold by the night. Watch out for the little critters. But usually Super handsome. Super quiet and hearty breakfast. I recommend it. Everyone is very helpful. The city is right next door easily on foot. All restaurants nearby.

Breakfast is basic, staff are helpful, a variety of activities are on offer, but it's a hostel don't let the use of "Luxury" sway you.

Perfect location simultaneously close to central Santa Elena (3 minute walk) and close to nature.

Wonderful family and place that is off the downtown core (for the better). We got to hear about the history of the family in the area and walked on many trails on the grounds. Our little person got to milk a cow and we had really nice breakfast both mornings that we were there. I hope that they are well and their tilapia ponds are now done and producing fish.

It's good, really peaceful and in the middle a small forest. Really nice private bedrooms.

There were private dorm beds available when I stayed in Feb. 2015 for $16. It looked like the place was under new management, as there was a bar and restaurant not yet ready to open. The dorm rooms are literally in the cloud forest. They are what every traveller wants to find: a quiet and comfortable place where they feel welcomed. Did I mention the monkees came and posed for photos? This is the only review I've written because I want it to be a wonderful surprise for more people.

A wonderful place to stay run by some of the most helpful, kind folks ever. Our room was spotless, and the hammock on the deck proved a perfect place to watch the sunset. Breakfast was great, and Reina helped us figure out our plans and had some great suggestions about things to do in the area. I wish we could have stayed longer!
