Classy hotel, largest pool in CR and the concierge is phenomenal. Car rental is expensive but you can get shuttles to anywhere.

Excellent customer service, very helpful and attentive by Valeria and Freddy, the rooms are very comfortable and impeccable, and I loved the marshmallow activity on the beach, highly recommended.

This is a beautiful hotel/resort. Things that stand out where the service, breakfast buffet, beautiful rooms, water aerobics with Bryan, and the beautiful view of the ocean from the pool.

The ceiling fan in our room had disgusting cobwebs hanging from it and upon closer inspection, the top of the fan blades were thick with dust. Looks like it has t been cleaned in YEARS!

Lovely pool and beach areas with great service. The dining venues were excellent and the service was top notch. It was such a relaxing vacation spot. I highly recommend this hotel.

Amazing staff and beautiful property. Love the pool areas and the beach front aspect. I liked our room, which was pretty spacious and the bathroom was pretty nice too. Tamarine restaurant is definitely worth a visit. I wish it was more clear though on the all inclusive aspect. I prefer to pay once and be done and know exactly how much I'm paying up front instead of being surprised at checkout.

It is a perfect place to spend time with family. The spa with excellent service.

If they asked me to give a serious rating without thinking a 20 out of 10, what a divinooo hotel, the attention is the best thing in life… They don't take him to one raised to the room because you can't hehe but if you could they would, they would treat my baby excellent from the welcome, those of the restaurants, that is ALL… and they don't know how much that fills those of us who are popes to treat their children well!
I also want to recognize GERALD and EDWIN for the good service they provided us, more than excellent.
The food ufff is another level, too.
Another thing we loved is that there is a place to do activities for babies and children and a small park. Words are short to describe how grateful we are. Thank you very much. Atte Flia. Vega díaz.

A great hotel with excellent attention from the staff and very beautiful facilities and variety in gastronomy.

Service was excellent. Staff was warm and friendly. Anything we asked for was provided promptly. The entire property is beautifully manicured and Pool and beach access is great. We were in the Miramar suite which was huge, sitting room and extra bathroom with luxurious shower and separate tub. Our balcony had the most wonderful views.

Absolutely EVERYTHING is perfect here. Restaurants are wonderful. Staff is exceptional! Property is magnificent! Pools are prolific! Ocean is enticing! Rooms are lovely. Our suite is crazy awesome!

We were so worried about what this hotel and Costa Rica in general was going to be like, but this was fantastic! We had a beautiful room that was well serviced every day, the staff was truly happy and friendly. The pool was amazing and we just can’t wait to stay there again. We felt the location was ideal and enjoyed being close to the Beach Club, Lolas and Tamarindo. We to a trip to Flamingo Beach which was not far either. I would say we had a 5 star vacation thanks to the hotel and staff. Pura Vida!

Beautiful resort with a super helpful staff. Only downside it's it's a bit remote so I would definitely recommend renting a car if you plan on leaving the hotel.

Service, great food, exquisite location. Golf, tennis, beach clubs. Family friendly, gourmet dining. One drawback is the insulated experience. It's in Costa Rica, but it's NOT anything like Costa Rica, the country. If you want to tell friends at cocktail parties that you "did" CR, and you don't care what it costs, there are several themed (Steak house, sushi, etc. ) restaurants, all other amenities (spa, massage, yoga), in an outstanding surrounding. This is where you would send your top sales rep of the year as a bonus…

My last review was done in error. JW Marriott Guanacaste is a solid 4 for our family. The property is immaculately groomed. The pool is pretty big only 4+ feet deep but the highlight for my two girls. The food at the several restaurants is delicious and beautifully plated. The staff is incredibly friendly and very willing to assist with any issue you might have. The rooms are spacious, but the suites are definite winners. The only reason we did not give it 5 stars is the hotel's isolation. Great if you just want to stay at the resort during your full vacation (and the Marriott restaurants and transportation are a bit pricey), but difficult to get out and explore the area, try less pricey local restaurants, or activities. Overall, we would definitely stay here again and recommend it to our friends. I would rent a car once again explore.

LOVED this hotel! We had so much fun and the staff was so friendly and helpful. Also loved that the pool was open 24 hours. The rooms were beautiful and clean and the beds were so comfortable. Grateful to have experienced such a wonderful hotel.

Beautiful views in ocean-front rooms. The pool is nice, quite big, only 4 ft at its deepest and has lots of comfortable lounge chairs and umbrellas. There is also a shallow area roped off for little one's to safely splash about. Poolside food and beverage service is prompt and attentive even in the low season. Pool is open 24/7. Some food is quite good, some is not. All in all a nice resort that I would not hesitate to return to.

I spent 10 wonderful days at this resort. Their staff is amazing, the view is beyond words and the atmosphere is very relaxing. The pool was the highlight of my daughter's days and it made for some great family moments. My only complaints lie in the quality of food and the beds. The food is extremely overpriced, which is to be expected when you at a remote resort such as this one, but the quality was poor and that I cannot excuse. I never mind paying the price for a good meal. You'd be much better served finding a local meal outside the resort. The bed was extremely uncomfortable and the topper they place on it only made it worse. Putting aside those two complaints I can say I thoroughly enjoyed my stay with JW.

Absolutely amazing. The hotel was beautiful, and the pool was absolutely stunning. The staff was very helpful and never unpleasant. The hotel's restaurants were worth experiencing, if a tad on the expensive side. Though the beach at the actual resort was too rocky to play in, the beach house only a 10 minute drive away was perfect for boogie-boarding. Overall perfect experience.

Great so far. It's been top notch from the moment we walked in. Food and drinks are expensive, but honestly it should be expected. The view is great just about everywhere in the place. The staff has been amazing and we've really been taken back at the experience.

Amazingly gorgeous property and over the top service received by each and every team member we had an interaction with. Special thanks to Katarina who checked us in and Sergio at the Bell Desk who helped us with recommendations. The Rooms are beautifully decorated and spacious. You have to make sure you upgrade to the ocean front room for 40$ per night because the view is really worth it. The Food was delicious and not very expensive for a 5 star hotel. We ordered room service 4 times and service was very efficient. This is my third time in a JW and 45th time in a Marriott and let me tell you it is in my Top 3 favorites. I will stay here every time I visit Costa Rica and I recommend it to everyone going there. Thanks again!

One of the best places we have stayed so far. Amazing hotel, very nice views. The only thing which needs some improvement is the food. I might be biased though since am used to European food.

Best place to stay for a romantic getaway ever! As usual in JW Marriott hotel, the service level is gorgeous. This time the Sabanero Restaurant chef was the star… We was walking around the hotel close to the restaurant, he invited us to know the restaurant and explain us all the menu… At night we went to the restaurant and the food was absolutely amazing… The beach is beautiful and the rooms are perfect for a relax time. Just 5 stars because there is not more possibilities! This hotel deserve a 10 about 5!

The JW is a beautiful resort. The rooms are amazing with ultra comfy beds, over-sized bathrooms, plush towels and luxurious toiletries. The pool is comfortable with plenty of seating around. The best value is the breakfast buffet, or simply ordering off menu. The yogurt parfait is delicious! The biggest drawback to the resort is it's distance to nearby towns and other beaches. Tamarindo is at least 20 minutes. Do NOT go to the Italian restaurant at the resort — it was probably the worst Italian food I've ever had.

Truly a 5 star resort, this place is beautiful! The staff is friendly and helpful as can be, and located right on the water, the sunsets are amazing. You will not be disappointed-Pura Vida!

Truly a 5 star resort, this place is beautiful! The staff is friendly and helpful as can be, and located right on the water, the sunsets are amazing. You will not be disappointed.

First time at this resort in Costa Rica. Beautiful property and outstanding service regardless of where you are on the property. The restaurants have very good food and excellent service as well! For a nice and relaxing vacation, the JW Marriott is a great choice. The only downside for some folks may be that the resort is very isolated, as the closest town of any size is Tamarindo about 30 min drive away. Also, the road for about 1 mile before you get into the resort gates coming in is surprisingly rough and potholed. Once you get past that you're fine! Enjoy your stay!. P. S. There's scheduled transportation service from the resort to Tamarindo for $20 PP if you don't have a car. Recommend Adobe Car rental, as they were great to deal with if you need a car. Tell them you were referred by My Tan Feet 5, as that referral give you one free additional drive, and cell phone free of use while renting. Also, I HIGHLY recommend getting the GPS for an additional $6/day!

A gem! Goodness me. Super clean rooms, employees look happy to be there, everything is perfect. Hotel is very secluded from the town so perfect for a romantic getaway. I will def be back.

I was at the resort for a small incentive program in February and I have nothing but wonderful things to say about this property and its staff. Everything was on point: Greeted with a warm "welcome home" from the bellman, received a quick check in at reception, had friendly wait staff at all of the great restaurants, enjoyed beautifully appointed (and very clean) sleeping rooms, and had speedy food and drink service at the pool. This was my first time in Costa Rica and it was truly a memorable experience.

FANTASTIC! Staff is Outstanding. Very welcoming. The Food. I dare you not to over eat it is so delicious. Calming chill lounge music by the pool allows you relax or just get in the groove.

The rooms were great! The pool and beach were beautiful as well but the food was only decent and the entertainment was sub par. Not much to do at night and all towns are far away. Hospitality was great.

Amazing grounds and amenities. Spa was great, pool and Beach area spectacular. People and staff are amazing. Reason it is not a 5 star review is the service at the restaurants. Staff is warm and friendly, but lacking on attention to detail and timeliness. Not a bad thing if you are sans kids, but was a bit frustrating with 3 little ones. With that said, I still give my recommendation.

The best that exists in luxury hotels in Guanacaste. Beautiful rooms and facilities. The breakfast buffet is quite good. Remember that it is located inside Hacienda Pinilla, so you need a means of transport to go to the furthest village or to restaurants other than those of the hotel.

If you are looking for a fine, typical, standard Marriott Resort then this is your place! If you are looking for a JW Marriott that will blow your mind when you arrive, this is not your place. There is really nothing wrong with this property except for the fact that it does not blow you away, like I would expect from a JW Marriott. The staff interactions were all fine. There were also a lot of children at this property, just so you know.

Absolutely beautiful facility with excellent staff and fantastic food. They must have one of the largest swimming pools in the world in the way and whines around the large grounds. And one section of the pool has an edge that faces the beach and seems to go off into the Pacific. I'm guessing the hotel has 10 to 12 different beautiful courtyards I had so much fun walking the grounds.

Amazing resort! Immersed in nature with access to beaches and a property with flora and fauna such as tropical flowers, mango trees, monkeys, lizards, and a multitude of birds and butterflies. Not only is the location spectacular, but what sets it apart is the attention to detail and dedication of the staff. Friendly, attentive, engaged, and dedicated to making sure your stay is care free and enjoyable. The restaurants are top notch and deserve to be recognized for their culinary art and delicious flavors. We enjoyed eating here as well as tasting the local cuisine off the resort. The local water and ice is safe to consume as well. If you're looking for a place to unwind and get away from the hustle and bustle, this is perfect. The location and staff exceeded my expectations in many aspects.

The Hotel was great! The Staff were so friendly and helpful to us. The Breakfast buffet was amazing. I really liked the fruit juice they give to you when you check-in! Since I like to surf I tend to also really like the location on the pacific side of Costa-Rica. It is really close to the beach. The service was great! I am not the person who wants to complain or anything but I thought the bed sheets were a-bit rough. I highly recommend to stay at the JW Marriott Guanacaste Resort And Spa!

A great hotel with great staff. The layout of the resort is the only downside. The lobby is on 3rd floor and beaches, pools and restaurants are 1st floor and it requires 2 separate elevators or stairwells to get from rooms down to 1st floor. Food options were great, the buffet was included with our room and had lots of vegetables and variety. The beach is rough and rocky but the pool is fantastic!

What a beautiful property. The beach is a bit rocky and rough. But the sunset views are amazing! The resort has about 5 pools if you prefer that. The grounds are well kept and the staff are really amazing as well. Sergio who checked me in was such a delight. This resort is really far from everything so you might want to rent a car if you want to venture off of the property. Otherwise, you can get a ride into Tamarindo for $20 round trip that you can arrange at the transportation office. The concierge office staff were very informative and helped us to book the tours we wanted. The housekeeping was impeccable. They always left fresh linen and kept our room well stocked. They also came by in the evening to turn down our beds and provide ice and more linens if needed. The rooms are beautiful, spacious and comfortable. I enjoyed my stay tremendously.

Was nearly empty during my stay, more staff than guests. Food is absurdly expensive, coffee is mediocre, pool is amazing, beach is cool. Amazing if you're willi g to blow $100 per person per day, less so if you're not.

One of the nicest hotels in the country of Costa Rica. We took advantage of the amazing pool and the beach just on the other side of it. Be careful if you do go to the beach though as there's a ridge of rocks just beyond the water line that is easy to slip on and get hurt with the waves splashing at you. We also rode a zip line over the first canopy. The hotel did not run the zip line but the concierge did help us get the tickets and made sure it transport was on its way. (They do make you sign a waver that it's not the hotel's liability if you get hurt. ) The whole atmosphere is extremely relaxing; if you need a place to get away from the city and enjoy paradise at a laid back and stress free atmosphere then I can't think of a better place to go then here.

Location and atmosphere are 5 Star, excellent with great pool and beach. It's just a great property. Staff and restaurants are 3 Star, I get the impression the staff are not happy and you can see that in the level of service. At check out; was never asked how my stay was, just "I see you already have your bill. " The restaurants though not expensive for a resort are not impressive in terms of food quality. I would stay there again, but service levels are below JW Marriotts standards.

Awesome! My daughter and I ate lunch at one of the restaurants. Adolpho gave us wonderful service. The food and drinks were excellent. And the prices were surprisingly reasonable.

The hotel is beautiful as is the beach and the locations around. And the food is exquisite.

It was a beautiful experience. We loved it all. The Architecture was open Hacienda style. The rooms were spacious, and furnished with luxurious furniture. The Staff was very friendly and always helpful. Language at times was a problem but every one made an effort to go out of their way to help. My wife and I had reached at 1 am in the morning, starving and tired, to know that we could order room service 24 hours a day was an indication that the trip was going to be great. But when the food arrived in 20 minutes, it was delicious and presented in a wonderful way. In Fact all the restaurants on the property were excellent, we had full service barbecue dinners on the beach, the free breakfast buffet was nothing short of gourmet, and for seven days we never got tired of eating our breakfast overlooking the meandering infinity pool and the Ocean. There were structured activities like water exercises, beach walk, botanical garden walks, stretching and yoga free for the guests. We were pampered, and every detail was taken care off. With so many things to do like site seeing excursions, adventure rides, water sports, there was never a push to do or buy anything, I would recommend this with all my heart for a romantic getaway, or a business conference. Or a beautiful sea side wedding, I couldn't say enough about this place. Take this vacation and you will remember for life.

They hotel is amazing! So beautiful and the customer service was amazing. The reason I didnt give it 5 stars is because the restaurant service was very bad experiences. One of the restaurants we waited 50 min for our food to come. Oh just be careful if they bring out a bottle of water and start pouring it just know you will be charged 9 dollars for a bottle of water. But other than the bad experiences at the restaurants we loved our stay at the hotel.

Absolutely gorgeous. The resort is laid out beautifully, the grounds are sprawling. The rooms are immaculate and the staff is so gracious and kind. So happy we chose the JW and Costa Rica for our summer vacation. High or low tide the beach and waves are gentle, from our balcony at sunrise you can hear the monkeys howling in the trees, the birds are super colorful and their are some large iguanas that rome the lawns. The super treat for our kids though, are the thousands and thousands of butterflies! The assortment of gentle wildlife is unique to us although we come from a coastal city ourselves, here everyday at low tide there are hundreds of yards of tide pools, shells, hermit crabs, sand dollars, crabs and tons of other sea sand creatures we can't even name. This place is a gem.

I'd give it 3-4 stars. The only significant problem we had was the long walk from our room to the restaurant. Strange layout. It took two walks and two elevators. Pricey, sniffy, and ocean swimming was not directly in front of the hotel. Gigantic pool and two spas, but not really that much to do at the hotel. We stayed two nights and that was plenty. As in the rest of Costa Rica, the staff was very friendly and responsive. Lovely people.

"Pura Vida" and we look forward to our next visit No regrets and ready to return. I was a little apprehensive of the car rental for the hour and a half drive to the Coast, but would do it every year if I could. Pure of Life is one motto for Costa Rica and we certainly enjoyed the trip. To entice a 25 year old to travel with us is getting more challenging every year. I think we will have little issue with getting him to return to the Hacienda Pinilla in the future.
