If u want to visit a Buddhist place, u should check this place out. The ticket it's cheap, and the place its very nice and wide. They have many beautiful statue of Guan Yin Phu Sa, also some other Deity. And if u vegetarian, u can visit their canteen, it placed between the temple area and souvenir shop. It only 2 kind of menu, noodle with mushrooms and noodle with vegetable, but watch out for their huge portion (it cost 30 yuan and 35 yuan last time I visited on june 2018).

Big and beautiful temple But be careful someone who speak chinese with you and try to persue you to do something that you do not understand what they are saying. They try to touch your face and your body so try to stay far from them.

When I was little the temple was more simpler. Nowadays it is rather a small palace than a simple Buddhist temple. Worth a visit! On the first and the mid of the lunar month the entree is free.

Further west into Shanghai, along the famous Nanjing Road is an even older temple named Jing’an Temple. Built during the romanticised era of the Three Kingdoms, it was moved to its present location during the Song Dynasty. The temple sits in a central location surrounded by modern buildings and malls. Usually, an expiration of Shanghai would begin here and eastward on Nanjing Road until you hit The Bund, as if walking along the lines of history from roughly 200+ AD to the 19th century of the concession era. The magnificent hues of gold and red is quite a sight to behold and is one of the most impressive structures I’ve seen in Shanghai. Old architectural structure, I meant. The current structure is actually restored as it was destroyed in the 70s. Curious trivia: during the Cultural Revolution, this temple was actually a plastics factory. The place can be pretty packed during the day, so I was lucky I went towards the end of the day, where the crowd has dwindled down. Much more peaceful adventure.

One of most impresive temples in the Shanghai. It is has quite picturesque location becasue it is old style temple in the middle of a city.

It's one of few temples downtown Shanghai, and a very popular tourist spot. Entrance fee is 50 RMB per person, and you need around 40 minutes to see everything inside. You get there on subway Line 2 a JingAn temple station, exit 2. First, try and get a coin inside the big black tower with pots for good luck, then walk upstairs and see the main Buddha, and go around it to find a very nice carved wall. Then, on the same level go around the temple and check the room above the entrance, you'll find some other Buddhas and a very famous bell. Last, go around the first floor to see monks and some other praying rooms with Buddhas. It's worth to see he temple at night, they light it very cool and picture worthy. You can take a good picture from the mall across the street (Nanjing West Road), next to JingAn Park, go to the top floor and you'll find a terrace that gives the perfect view of the temple for a good shot.

Beutiful Temple. Safe and clean for kids. Very busy at times. Great for photos and surrounded by great shops.

Gorgeous place, shiny gold roofs and classic architecture. Go to the temple then then park across the street and come back after sunset as the temple is beautifully lit at night. Also do not forget to walk around the outside of the temple. Also bring change to toss into the tower in the middle of the temple plaza for good luck (and a bit of fun)

Famous site in Shanghai city center The building is a total reform, not any historical leftover Still, it worth coming and take a photo of this landmarke But there's absolutely no Buddhism spiritual here… It's like a mall underneath the temple. People are mostly coming for the shopping areas nearby.

The Jing An Temple or the Serenity is surrounded by office buildings and shopping centers. The place is fully restored. At the entrance we find the ritual of the fire, the incense and the prayer.

A great temple located in the heart of Shanghai. There are shopping malls, parks, restaurants, subway and anything just nearby this temple.

The temple entrance fee — it's weird. Okay, if only for tourists of other religions, but not for all.

A beautiful example of an old temple complex that's still in operation. You'll encounter monks still doing their prayers, and there's usually some of the faithful performing their rituals in one of the areas. The temple is in excellent condition, largely because of a wealthy benefactor (thus the gold roofs). The bell and drum towers are particularly impressive. A note of caution-it's *super* crowded on National Holiday. Almost standing room only. So don't come the first week of October if you can help it.

Speaking true, the first time to see Jingansi, I was refused, because unexpectedly such a magnificent temple, even "Jingan", remove this factor, this in the downtown Jingansi is very interesting, the Mid-Autumn Festival will sell moon cakes, but also to receive the people outside the retreat.

Large gilded temple, you need to pay an entrance fee. On the right after the ticketing office is a small room with a covered well that has a not very large hole where you can toss coins and make a wish. I missed all 5 of my 1 yuan coins but the wish came true half a year later! lol!

You have to buy ticket to get there, now its 50¥. When u'll get there you can walk only on 1 and 2 floors. Many people are coming to pray there so its a bit uncomfortable to take pics and talk when somebody is praying. Also monks are living there. So you are kinda barging in private space. Also some cars on the yard spoiled the view and impression.

This temple is definitely one of the places of Shanghai I prefer. It is a good break from the city chaos, and the strong smell of incense is relaxing. It is not as ancient as other sites in China, but it is one of the most traditional-looking buildings in Shanghai. The contrast with the surrounding skyscrapers is striking and photogenic. Inside, a lot of people actually pray in the different rooms, which I found particularly interesting as a tourist. You can also see people trying to get coins inside the central structure for good fortune. The price is very accessible, so I would strongly recommend a visit! It is next to a metro station as well as a typical shopping mall.

Located next to multiple malls on Nanjing West this gorgeous temple stands out among the modern buildings in Jing'an neighborhood. The inside of the temple is spacious and absolutely spectacular. 50Rmb to enter is well worth it.
