Really reasonable nightly rate for a Marriott. Food in the 3rd floor restaurant is awesome and has a variety from all over the world. The executive lounge offers 4 hours of cocktails at night and the staff is very friendly.

Very lazy and non professional staff. To avoid doing any movements they pretend that they don't understand you and don't speak any English. This hotel is a good example of how western companies struggle in China, you can build a nice building and charge 5 star price but the service remains as local Chinese. Its time to fire all at once and start from the scratch.

A bit like a railway terminus. Quite a bit of pedestrian traffic and the casual dining places are very busy. My local hosts didn't enjoy their meals at the swankier restaurant upstairs. I did not have any issue with the breakfast buffet having become accustomed to the permutations over the course of a week. The rooms were perfectly fine for my needs but not family friendly. The room density becomes apparent once you spend an afternoon in there.

Very good location. Subway station is less than 5 minutes walk, with link to high speed train station, airport and more. You can walk to Nanjing street and people square, and Shanghai museum. Executive lounge was average but had nice views. I had a corner room which was very spacious. The room service was not the greatest…

Really great hotel in a good location. The pedestrian area / shopping street is around the corner. The staff is very professional and friendly. I was personally greeted and received a room with a really great view. This hotel is really large but still manages to keep a personal touch. I did stay here multiple times and never was disappointed.

Great hotel, beautiful stylish gorgeous view on the Bund.

Check in took 55 minutes. My back was killing me and they seemed to be playing with the screens and telling us it was a busy day. Then they said they had no reservation for our full stay, only the first night. This was after 40 minutes. We complained and through my clever wife managed to extract access to the executive floor for the whole stay. But still I was not impressed.

Comfortable and complete rooms. Very good space. The bathroom is very complete and with accessories in case you forget some daily hygiene implements. The restaurants in the hotel varied but expensive. Full breakfast included. What is expected of a Marriot. As far as location is in the center of the city and very close to several commercial places.

I was staying at the hotel because the function I was attending was located there. That being said, I am glad because I had a really enjoyable stay. The room, executive lounge, and spa amenities were wonderful. While it was sometimes difficult to communicate with staff in English, the staff really tried their best to address any needs. (And I think it was hard to explain my vegan diet more on a conceptual or cultural level than them not understanding my English) There were walkable sights (an awesome sculpture garden is less than a mile away) and I had a great view of the city from my room. The mattress was great, the bath was great, and I loved the steam room in the gym facilities. The executive lounge had a fairly good selection of food multiple times a day, but breakfast was my favorite!

Above-average upscale western style hotel in the heart of downtown Shanghai. Good access to shopping transportation and local city center sites. The rooms are spacious and well-appointed. The internet is not as fast as it should be but works reasonably well. Rooms and common areas are clean and up-to-date. Recommended for your stay in downtown Shanghai.

Great hotel with a great location, near the city’s main walking street. Rooms are big, quite, clean and modern looking. Breakfast is good with a great selection of western and eastern foods. Try to get access to the roof business lounge, free beers, drinks and dinner are served each evening.

The best characteristic of the hotel is the location. It's central to anywhere you would want to go in Shanghai. The service was great, room was clean, and had all the conveniences of the United States. There are universal plugs built into the outlets. Tours, although typically more expensive can be arranged through the concierge. Tipping your tour guides and drivers is about the only tipping that is expected. Most of the staff speaks at least some English.

This is a very nice hotel with very friendly front desk and concierge. The lobby always smelled lovely and fragrant. Well maintained and sophisticated. My room is well kept and nicely stocked with amenities and towels. Expensive food and hors d’oeuvres. Breakfast buffet and seafood buffet were excellent and very flavorful.

The service and attention as always is excellent from Marriott, only that the Metro access is a bit removed though not by much.

The Marriott city center hotel is a great hotel in Shanghai. It is located in the wangpu area with lots of restaurants and shops nearby. The lounge is great if you can get in. The staff is very helpful. I would definitely go back.

Very central location. Rooms are excellent. As always, Marriott's buffet breakfast has a varied selection and tastes always good. Will highly recommend this hotel to my friends.

We stayed here for 2 nights prior to a cruise from Wusongkou port. Excellent service and food. Location is great, in the heart of Shanghai. The service in the lounge was exceptional led by the French born manager. Rooms are well appointed. We would definitely stay here again.

This is a good hotel but it does have some flaws. It appears that a big part of its clientele are from India and most of them were really rude when we were there. The breakfast consists of 3 different cuisines; asian, western and indian. The asian were just bad compared to other restaurants nearby. The western is also bad, you can find better food in an American diner. The indian food is just there to please the indian clientele. The rooms are great, big and comfy. The cleaning staff were really friendly and always asked if they were needed. The gym is too small and the staff who were there seemed to not really care. We notified the gym reception that someone forgot their sweater and they didn't even take it to the reception or anything, they just left the sweater on the floor in the gym. The hotel restaurants were an embarrassment… We went to the Japanese restaurant at 7.30 PM and they were out of fish (for sushi).

Near this hotel there are few halal restaurant and noodle shop… easy for muslim to find halal food. Hotel interior and facilities are good also.

Booked for 1night only, should have been a few more days. The service was 10 out 10! Had a magnificent view of the city from the 30 th floor. The breakfast was very good. The smorgasbord dinner was exceptional good. Thank you to the staff, especially to the bell hop chaps helping us into a taxi!

Very nice stay, hotel makes a person feel nice. There are many shopping and dining to choose from, rich and colorful. Hotel lobby is also very stylish, worthy of the Marriott Hotel, the room was clean, the hotel staff are very warm and feels very warm. Next time you think to come here.

The hotel facilities are relatively new, but somewhat low-cost accommodation, consider a hotel, and the hotel's Japanese restaurant.

The regular MARRIOTT, the rooms are numerous, large, like, 700. But is Hotel, import and export is in a small road, the perimeter is a one-way road, so ride is not very convenient. The subway is also at a distance, but just low-cost accommodation, consider a hotel, and the hotel's Japanese restaurant.

Forget 189 per nt. I got in 130 per for corner rm on 23rd flr. Great view of the unplanned chaos which is Shanghai. Nice room in terms of materials and finish, no doubt the Chine$e can build. But no place to store clothing so they are still challenged when it comes to design. As usual, full of the prettiest girls they could find, all smiling and providing top notch hotel and restaurant service. Make sure to have am breakfast included in room price else they will gouge you 30 per person!

I thank God for Marriott! What a great experience, a little piece of what we would call home. If you are in Shanghai you must stay at the Marriott!

New and shiny. Executive lounge lovely, breakfast slightly limited vs Beijing but still very good. Spa services about 3-5 times more expensive than similar spas outside hotel.
