Great food and ambiance! Will certainly go back.

First experience at the Nelligan Hotel and certainly not the last. Old Montreal in its pure essence. Ideal location for all your activities. Small hotel offering outstanding personalized service. Rooftop nice with atmosphere, cocktail and good food. Our room (#306) was spacious and well maintained Ideal for a small family of 4 (with 2 children under 3 years old). We travel frequently and were really impressed with our stay!

Can a place be old and new, homey and hip, perfectly located, gorgeously appointed? Yes.

This hotel is amazing. The rooms are beautiful, the location is fabulous. My family and I were here to renew our vows at The Basilica of Notre Dame (which is located right around the corner). All of the staff here is wonderful. They all make you feel there is nothing to worry about because we got you and they do. Maude Our concierge went above and beyond. Maude arranged everything From the hair, make up artist, photographer, florist, surprise desserts in our room for the children, she even made sure a flower arrangement was on our table when we arrived for dinner after the ceremony, also a last mintiest over experienced babysitter so hubby and I could get a little alone time. Thank you Hotel Nelligan for making this experience one that will live in our hearts forever. We will be back.

The hotel is right in the middle of historic Montreal so it has fantastic restaurants and historical sites within walking distance. To top it off, there is a wonderful hotel staff and beautiful rooms. A fantastic hotel all around and a place my wife and I already plan to come back to.

A stylish hotel with excellent service, large comfortable beds, clean bathrooms and delicious breakfast. Recommend!
Stayed in the hotel during the business trip — everything was fine.
In the season prices are quite high, but if you plan ahead, you can save a little. I'd like to get there at Christmas time.
There is also a terrace with beautiful views. During the day it was very hot to be there, but in the evening be sure to stop by.

Was there last week for a long weekend… must say we loved the place atmosphere and he staff are really nice! We like it so much we came back for the fallowing day! First day jade serve us well her name was in French couldn’t pronounce it rite so we call her jade! and the next Day Mr Chau! He was awesome! Both server gave us tips and what to do in Montreal! It was a blast Definitely coming back and will recommend this place to my place! Thanks again for the unforgettable weekend!

We chose Hotel Nelligan for our 20th anniversary celebration in Montreal. 5 whole days were just fantastic. The staff went above and beyond expectations! The breakfasts were simply amazing, the room was even more amazing. We can't wait to come back! Thank you!

Can't say enough great things! Fantastic location, few minutes walk to all shopping, restaurants and Old Port. Rooms were spacious, great vibe with exposed brick, huge bathroom with double jacuzzi tub and shower. Nespresso coffee maker and super comfy bed made it feel like home. Staff was very accommodating and friendly, especially evening concierge. We absolutely loved this place and when we return to Montreal, we will only stay at Hotel Nelligan.

Place is very nice. New modern "wood" floors nice but sort of loses the charm of the old Montreal building. Staff could not be bothered. We checked in in our wedding tux and dress, soaked from rain and sweat at 4am, were given a room that was 29 degrees and was taking forever to cool. Eventually complained and moved to a cooler room, but with no water. Were not Given any option to check out past noon, other than just checking out late. Otherwise, the place is gorgeous and we have history there so was nice, but Id say it's unfortunate that the prestige of the hotel allows for guest satisfaction to mean so little.

Hotel is overall very nice. Location is perfect! Room service should learn to respect "Do Not Disturb sign " even it is backward. We where disturbed two times in one day even if we hung do not disturbed sign on the outside door, room service can't "see it" because it's backward. If you want to be exceptional, this omission can't be tolerated. For 1, 700$ for two nights l expected more professional stuff. Bill is unclear…

Excellent location. It is more expensive than other hotels but it's worth it due to the location in old Montreal and also the rooms are very nice. The beds were amazing, good to have an hotel with very fine sheets that make you have good nights. Same with the mattress, good quality overall.

This is an amazing hotel. From the moment you walk in the door, you're greeted with a wonderful scent that permeates the entire hotel! We have only stayed in the Jr. Suites but can strongly recommend them. The rooms are huge and everything from the pillows to the whirlpool tub, just enforce how luxurious this hotel is! We normally try to visit a different hotel each time we go on vacation. That said, we've been so happy with the Nelligan that this is our chosen home base every time we go to Montreal. The breakfast at the on-site restaurant is basic but excellently done and the serve yourself coffee is absolutely amazing! There is a bar connected to the hotel that is very good, though maybe a bit trendy for our taste. The drinks were good though the old fashioned that I ordered, just didn't measure up to some of the better drinks I've had. Other drinks and beers were good, though maybe a bit pricey. That said, the mini bar and in room food were very affordable (as hotels go) and great if you need a late night snack or drink. Location goes without saying, it's a block from Notre Dame Cathedral and right in the heart of old Montreal. Strongly recommend!

After being told on the phone earlier in the week that the hotel would make a meeting room available to me, when I arrived there was no note on file. After repeated inquiries I was informed that while they had told me that a meeting room would be available, they were speaking in a notional sense, as in, they do have a meeting room. It took repeated trips to the desk to sort this out. This is not a staffing issue as the staff have been very helpful. This appears to be a systems and processes problem. Our room is very, very loud. Carroll the restaurant host is very pleasant and gave me a nice quiet table for my meeting. He then brought me an absolutely perfect latte and croissant and now I'm happy to be in the restaurant and not a boring meeting room. Bravo Carroll!

The courteous Staff is always there to attend to your needs. The Concierge had great knowledge of local restaurants and cuisines. She made a great recommendation for French Canadian food and provided info on the subtle differences between that cuisine and French Cuisine. Room was clean and inviting looking. The enormous windows overlooking the street were beautiful. Cleaning staff was great as well.

Phantastic hotel — cozy atmosphere!

Very classy and nice hotel in the heart of Old Montreal. Open concept rooms with a rustic look. Love the feel of the open windows overlooking the streets. Can get a but noisy at night if you're not used to that though.

I spent an evening at this great hotel. Beautiful interior, spacious and luxurious room. The food is good and the place is very well located in the old Port of Montreal, close to the majority of activities to do.

We were assigned to the petite suite which was quite a spacious cozy room. The bed was large and comfortable, the couch by the electric fireplace was romantic and lovely to relax by, the view from outside the room overlooked the cobble streets and little boutiques nearby which added a nice feel to the room. The room was equipped with a stocked minibar and snacks which although wasn't cheap is a nice option to have on hand when you don't feel like venturing outside. The bathroom was nicely decorated with a big jetted bathtub for 2 people as well as a shower. The only complaint we have is regarding room service and the food options available. As with any hotel the prices will lean more towards the expensive side however the plates we selected were rather disappointing and seeing as how we chose to have our breakfast and dinner there it did lower our overall experience. I'd suggest exploring the many nearby cafes and restaurants instead. All in all I would stay here again. We booked a stay during the more quiet season however summer gets full and busy also due to their rooftop terasse open to guests and the general public. Really nice addition to the hotel with beautiful views of Old Montreal.

Love love love this hotel. The rooms are gorgeous, the service was wonderful, and the bar is really great. We felt right at home throughout our whole stay. If you want a wonderful hotel in Old Montreal, this is it.

Lovely hotel. Came here for an event. Great venue. Lots of space and great seating. Service a little slow. Nice choice available for drinks at the bar. But really you need to improve the service. Are bar nibbles and they were very good.

Hotel Nelligan provided a very nice double room with a fireplace. The hotel staff were very helpful and accomodating. I would highly recommend this hotel for a visit to Montreal!

I've always been a big fan of the Nelligan. It's a hotel with top notch staff and service. They are in a great location within the old port and have easy access to de la commune and rue st Paul. We were here for a getaway weekend and thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our stay.

Clean room with a very comfortable bed, however the pillows were too soft for my taste. Nice large bathroom. Room well stocked with usual hotel products. Staff were incredibly helpful. Would recommend for business or pleasure. Beautiful location in the Old Port area of the city, many restaurants and bars in the local area. Breakfast was simple but of high quality, especially the pastries. Excellent coffee. Really couldn't do much more and reasonably priced.

We stayed at Hotel Nelligan for 2 nights just before Christmas. We wanted to stay for 20 more! Great hotel. Great location. Very warm and friendly service. We had room 404, it is a large room with a pretend fireplace that makes the room charming and romantic. It has a large bathroom with a walk-in shower and two person Jacuzzi tub. Great for warming up frozen toes as it was super cold in MTL at the time. Breakfast was great, we had the continental each day — Montreal bagels and fabulous croissants — how can you go wrong. Great staff. Great hotel. Love to visit it in the summer. Definitely would stay again and again.

Perfect location in the heart of old Montreal. You are going to like the large and comfortable bed and nice bathroom. The staff at the reception is very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

This hotel is located into the heart of Old Montreal, and near the port. The strip that it's on is full of art galleries, cafes, little shops, and it connects to larger streets with more shopping and dining options. When we first arrived ahead of schedule, the staff assisted us with our bags and car while we waited for our room to be ready. They were very friendly and professional throughout our stay. Everyone was polite and attentive to the needs of the guest, and if you are unfamiliar with this feeling it can be a tad overwhelming at first; I don't think I opened the door to the hotel more than twice during my stay. Everything is accessible, from the cabs, to maps, and valet parking. Our room was great and roomy, and was located close to the inner atrium. It got a little noisy closer to dinner time, but it wasn't a deal breaker. The room service was prompt; their food selection was great, and the housekeeping was quick and tidy. The room was a bit dark as well but it didn't bother us since we didn't stay indoors a lot. For me, what makes or breaks a hotel is the little things that they provide for comfort. Hotel Nelligan provides you the basic amenities, but they also provide you a large umbrella in the closet for when you walk the streets of Montreal. Since it rained during our stay, it was so convenient to have; it's the little things. Overall, I would definitely come back again and stay here when I visit Montreal again.

We stayed for a long weekend. Wonderful hotel! The breakfast and dinners we had there were delicious. The service was fantastic — everyone was very friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is beautiful inside. The room was tastefully decorated and appointed, with a fireplace and jet tub. We'll be back for sure!

Went to a wedding reception there. Reception room was beautiful! Food was a culinary delight! Service was friendly and quick. One of the best wedding receptions I've ever been to. Would recommend this place for anybody's wedding reception. 5 star experience!

A charming intimate lovely hotel nestled in the heart of old Montreal. Excellent service, restaurants on site and a super location. You really feel so pampered here! I highly recommend this special place for a relaxed stress free environment!

Friendly staff, superb room — clean, rustic, lots of natural light, an amazing jacuzzi tub (junior suite), beautiful rooftop. It's in a great location, right in the heart of Old Montreal. This place has a lot of character. I loved my stay here.

Location is amazing. Beds and pillows top end. Old building renovated 100%. Bathrooms are impressive. Best staff service I have experienced. Stayed on 3rd floor over the street. Bar is across the street and outside is busy with people traffic, but no noise problems for us at all (Friday & Saturday night in august) — assuming previous reviewers must have been very sensitive to sound. Gentlemen in suits open front door for you at entrrance. This is a 1st class hotel in the heart of old Montreal. Probably 40 restaurants/cafe and 10 bars within 3 blocks radius. Also 2 blocks from old port. Highly recommended for couples and groups.

Seven of us had a lovely late evening of perfect drinks and hors d'oeuvres in the bar, thanks to Sebastian and Melissa. We arrived about 45 minutes before closing time, but they could not have been more gracious. They welcomed us and assured us we could take our time. The craft cocktails from the new drink menu, developed by Sebastian, were superb. My husband and I once stayed at the hotel, and I recommend it just as highly.

Not sure what more you could ask for. Staff was nice, room was clean and very up to date, and the location is as good as it gets. I got the petite suite for my honeymoon and don't regret anything about my stay. If you do book, use their website and you will get some free complimentary breakfast coupons. Saves like $20 a day.

Excellent 4 AAA diamond hotel centrally located in Old Montreal. Hotel is also located less than two blocks from the Notre Dame Basilica. Staff is above-and-beyond friendly and helpful. Rooms are spacious and clean. Exposed brick walls and indoor atrium are beautiful. Lots of charm and warmth here. Also, very walkable to shops and restaurants in the area.

This is a nice hotel, in a charming city with a great staff, but there is one thing that you should keep in mind if you happen to be a light sleeper namely that you should ask for a room at the back of the hotel. Since the hotel is located in a relatively hopping section of town (and across the street from a busy nightclub/bar) it is subject to noise from the patrons. The building is in a historic district, so swapping out the vintage windows is not possible. Until they install inner storm windows, it's best to ask for a room in the back… if you're not planning on staying out late! Other than that, this is a great place to stay. One major plus is that they have secure underground (valet) parking for a reasonable $35 CAD per night.

After my original review, I was contacted by the Nelligan via telephone to review my stay. My husband and I were offered an additional night and we returned this weekend. Again, the service and location are top notch! Many restaurants and shops within steps of the hotel. And honestly, the front desk staff is wonderfully warm and helpful. The room this time was beautiful and cozy. Still no coffee maker (why Nelligan?!?!?! ), but all the other details were in order. My husband and I had a wonderful stay and will definitely recommend to others.
Disappointing. We reserved a junior suite as we decided to splurge for my husband's 40th birthday. The suite itself was spacious, but it overlooked an alley, the furniture was scuffed and scratched, no coffee maker, buttons on jacuzzi tub were broken, makeup mirror in bathroom was falling off the wall and the shower handle was broken which made it difficult to control the shower temperature. Also, the bed was below expectation — no pillow top, felt cheap. So disappointed. When spending so much per night for a hotel, I expect luxury and this stay was a huge let down. Great location and service, but the details were sadly lacking.

Horrible STAFF! Karine weekend manger was rude and condescending and threatened some of my friends.

My opinion is the part on the rooftop of the hotel:
The view is great, nothing to say on point here, the selection of the menu is rather respectable except the price.
However for the service, it does not exist. We arrived, the doorman busy reading a paper don't we not watching, he finally held the door once we were past history of conscience. Arrived at the top safety in summer friendly and directed us in the right direction. The receptionist in the same way as the doorman don't we not speak, we we're sitting by us even. 10 minutes later, still no waitress, too busy laughing with the receptionist, I woke up so and asked politely if we we even go to the bar serve us or if a waitress go come, knowing very well that the people to whom I was talking composed said waitress and the receptionist, the receptionist answer, you should probably go to the bar it will be faster.
Table service incompetent while on the floor there was more staff than it needed.
In short go for the view only.

Great hotel in old Montreal.

The rooms at this hotel are amazing. They're so large and all of them have a very legitimate rustic feel to them. Our room also had a fireplace. The service at the hotel is also really top notch.

WOW! What a BEAUTIFUL hotel. The staff and consierge were amazing, so kind, helpful, and beyond friendly. The hotel terrace and restaurant have amazing drinks and atmospheres. Food was excellent and the hotel's surroundings simply beautiful. The suite as well as the hotle had somuch character. If youre looking for a romantic place to stay where you will be treated like gold, choose Nelligan.

First time in the city and so glad we stayed here. Thanks to TuneIn Radio, even though I'm back home in Ontario, I listen to the beautiful classical music station that greeted us in the sumptuous room. True luxury.

No swimming pool. No on site spa. The rooms are beautiful. I really like the lobby bar's 2 little hidden round tables! One little complaint. I was entering the hotel and noticed the doorman/valet/bellhop let in a homeless looking/smelling man. A little later on, I wanted to get a snack but the homeless looking/smelling man was at the bar having a drink. Needless to say, I went elsewhere for a snack.

The staff is at the front of our needs, great courtesy and always smiling. Our stay of 3 days during the Christmas period was the most comfortable and pleasant. Beautiful atmosphere and warm décor. The rooms are well equipped and that we highly enjoyed, it's the tranquillity of places. Everything is well thought out and organized to make our stay unforgettable. And what a pleasure it was to walk around this area of old Montreal. Great relaxing stay! Congratulations to all the staff at the hotel.

Fabulous bouteaque hotel. Great rooms and a staff that is there to please. Of course you will pay for the excellence but if you can it's worth it. Enjoy.
