I had a trip here booked for 5 days, in March 2020, however due to our new friend COVID-19 and on the advice of the Ontario government and the Quebec government we can no longer go. For about the last 3 days or so I have been back and forth with Expedia and the hotel, and neither are willing to help us in any way. They are unwilling to give us any or all of our money back and they aren’t willing to change our dates so we can go at a later time, which is actually what we would prefer to do. All I was Asking for was a change of date and even offered to pay the higher rate of the new dates but they are unwilling to accommodate because of their cancellation policy, which I would completely understand under different circumstances outside of a global pandemic where you’re being asked by the world to stay home and help slow the spread of a illness that is killing people around the world.
Good customer service is key in any business. This. This is by far the worse customer service I have ever received Please. Please please do not stay at this hotel. The ownership and management are all here for the money grab and to take advantage of customers and take their hard earned money without one thought about it. I hope they are proud of their extremely poor customer service.

Unclean, smells and the evening staff was arrogant and anything but courteous. I don't recommend it at all.

Large and nice room. Not enough room in the morning for breakfast no curtain on the ground floor that blackout curtains. So for rooms that looks out hard street hard! Breakfast too simple with industrial products.

Nice and helpful staff. Good for the price, a bit old building but clean enough. Location is perfect for sightseeing.

Plus: the situation halfway between downtown and the Plateau.
The less (plural, and the list will not be exhaustive) : the mind-boggling dirt of the carpet (a nail trimming? seriously? ), the bathroom, bedspreads, the dubious cleanliness of sheets and towels (present in insufficient numbers in our room reserved for 3), broken objects and/or out of use (lock, electrical socket, light bulb. The non-existent soundproofing, the very poor quality of breakfast served exclusively with disposable utensils, the coffee offered 24 hours a day, certainly, but undrinkable. Etc.
Even if the price seemed affordable, it's shamefully too expensive for so many defects. The photos presented by the hotel are misleading. And the $100 bail irrelevant. We did however deal with courteous receptionists.

Awful place, we got room for us, 207. Outlets were unsafe to use, they were falling out of the wall, safety lock on a door wad broken, electric board cover just fell on my feet, when I accidentally touched it. Wall paper was teared in few placed, ceiling paint have been peeling of in 4 spots, curtain bar in shower was failing, so curtain didn't close the shower at all. Before I called, I asked if they have a parking, they said " yes", but truth is, that they don't have a parking, they offer some parking for lower rate, 23 cad per night, in one kilometer from hotel, outdoor parking, got no cameras, no security, so, if something happens, no one is responsible. Staff doesn't share info about parking rules on a neighboring streets. When I came with my complaints to hotel manager, he told me, that I want to much, because it's 2 star hotel. Breakfast was awful, really disgusting. Not going to stay in that hotel ever again.

Shameful hotel. As soon as we arrived, we were asked for a $100 deposit. But the worst is yet to come when we discover our room. Several details are to be noted: a puddle of urine at the foot of the toilet, many hair on the bath towels (without the smell of laundry), a very dirty carpet, the ceiling of the bathroom to redo, strange smells in the room, very breakfast medium. In short, a hotel that really isn't worth its price. I don't recommend it.

Can't ask for a better location or more helpful staff. No frills, you get what you pay for. Parking is a few blocks away so be sure to unload if you have a lot of luggage.

Attention! I don't recommend this place at all! They're defrauding customers. They're signing a contract in the first place! Then when you're not there they add terms and increase the final price to the contract. When we arrived we had clearly said that we were 4 and on the contract it is written 4 adults but on our return, the manager said we had paid the price for 2 people so we had to pay extra fees for no reason! Bad service NEVER go THERE! The manager even chased us into the elevator to get angry and then told us to lower the tone when we told him of our displeasure because there are people sleeping.

Great location, but the room was not very clean. Requested a non smoking room but the room and hallway still smelt like cigarette smoke. Reception was pleasant and responded to requests quickly.

For modest accomodations it was exactly what I expected. My only disappointment was the room was not sound proof. I could hear every footstep in the room above and all the doors shutting in the hallway. The hotel was full of guests and the breakfast room was well attended. Clean and comfortable enough for a tight budget!

Nice rooms and nice breakfast. Only problem is the leak and some broken stuffs in the room especially in their washrooms. Also please provide guides on how to operate your televisions.

HORRIBLE Hotel! Not recommended.
Dirty, a lot of noise in the hotel and outside (traffic + outside population), uncommon area (drug trafficking at the bottom of the hotel) strong cigarette odor, non-professional staff, old-fashioned room with dirty carpet, small TV, room Bath in pitiful condition. Very basic Breakfast
Withdrawal of a deposit on arrival, this shows that she kind of clientele goes to this establishment.
No room to park, parking paid $21 a day.
I do not recommend this hotel at all. We travel a lot and have never seen a hotel like this.

The room wasnt clean and not what we seen on the website. Disapointed, we rented another room at another place. We do not recommend it.

The price and location was great. The room is tidy and neat. I wished there was more towels in the bathroom considering the booking was for 4 people! The breakfast is very simple, but I liked that there's a free coffee in the lobby available 24h! Also, I wished there was a mini fridge in the rooms. One more thing to consider is there's no free parking available. You can only park on the nearby streets or in the public parking lot 3 blocks away! Would comeback if the prices stayed reasonable!

That's the worst choice! A rotten service, dirty rooms with smells… I do not recommend! Choose another place for your stay at a good waiter.

Good clean hotel with friendly staff but not great Wi-Fi (maybe just my room). Wifi works decent in the lobby but we couldn't get anything to load in our room.

Almost like apartment but still a hotel. Spacious rooms. Front desk seemed nice.

The only thing worse than staying here would be to sleep on the streets. Power went out in my room multiple times, each time wasn't resolved until the next day. I had a friend come by for a visit and they wanted to charge me for the visit (they were here for less than an hour) I would find long black hair from the housekeepers in my bed and bathroom each day. Internet is a joke, either doesn't work or is subpar. Housekeeping kept skipping my room on weekends. Deadlocks on the doors don't work (the lock is too low on my door for it to slide into the door frame) This place is for people who just need a bed to sleep for the night. And even then, I would recommend paying a little extra to go elsewhere.

Important to know! Stayed here before. However second time was a really bad experience no manager to speak with after 3 days of trying… and couldn't cancel In advance after a huge issue with being charged the wrong price by about $80 OVER what was shown online when we confirmed that's crazy and no one wanted to do anything so instead of $60 which was the online price at the time it was $140? Should have booked somewhere else! And check in was suppose to be at 1 and now it's 4 and we're still waiting for a room that we can't even cancel. Would never return and do not recommend. When you try days in advance to speak with someone and no one cares? Not organized or professional! If your wanting something reliable I do not recommend. Terrible who wants to wait hours or you loose your spot just so u can spend your trip waiting around, instead of enjoying Montreal.

This hotel is good the attention is good the owner even though it has good genius is a bit closed since my wife made a reservation x the page expired. Com with a queens bed for two gave us a room with 2 separate beds and told us q expidia says one thing and he is the one who gives the rooms available even though the place is very good located and the room we gave later on the 2nd floor with good view but with separate beds the staff is very good and super but super quiet.

I like the fact that its pet friendly and prices are affordable. Loction is accessible to metro, clubs and stores. And its comfortable environment.

A hotel where the service is lousy and the rooms dirty and shabby, a bad experience unfortunately.

No organization to be the employees. I was woken up so that I could change my room again. The recordings are extremely long and when you take several days there is no one to make the room anyone asks if you need anything and lunch its finish at 10am. Lool the Wi-Fi on 1/5. There's syringes on the street, no parking in a homeless Cartier. Deposit request only a larriver.

Passable more than passable. I wouldn't recommend this hotel which was fine 3 years ago. But change of owner change of comfort cleanliness welcomes.

Pretty good for a cheap, central place to stay. Right on st. Denis with great restaurants next door. Don't expect any frills or a fun time in the room. It's a place to sleep and shower lol.

A hotel that deserves to be restored in the era of time. The quality of the rooms is very uneven and some are really scary. The neighborhood can be noisy, which does not help to spend good nights when it is hot in the room.

Non-Representative Photos. Deplorable experience. Unpleasant owner and bad service. Additional charge if someone just come visit. Extremely poorly done housekeeping. It's cold in the rooms. No additional coverage available. Bathroom: ARK. Hair in the bath and shower curtain too short. Holes in the walls. Too expensive for what it is.

The overnight staff member is great and funny. This is a no frills kind of place. If you are looking for pretty rooms and… well… clean than this isn't the place for you but if you are just looking for an affordable, short term stay than this is perfect.

Old, could use a few upgrades (bedspreads very old). We had an old clunker TV (90s) but they do have some flatscreens. Service good and very clean. Few blocks to Chinatown and old Montreal. Great location!

DISGUSTING! If you are looking for the type of hotel that is like one that rents by the hour then Hotel des Arts is your place. It is not clean despite those who have said it is. I seen 3 rooms and they were all deplorable conditions. Mold, poorly repaired holes in doors, cob webs, peeling ceilings and burn holes in bedspread, springs coming through the mattress to name a few. But you get what you pay for. Customer service namely Denis was all fine until we stated there was a problem with our first room. He lied to us and to our service provider, was abrasive and rude. Refused to give the name of management as well. We checked out after 6 hours of dealing with it despite the lies and lack of customer service. We were willing to pay for the first night even though there was no way we would stay there but they wanted to charge us for the full 3 nights of our reservation. Would not give us a copy of their cancellation policy. If you are looking to cheap out on accommodations… don't do it. For $20 more we were able to rent a brand new condo for our stay right downtown.

Moderate prices and pretty high quality. Continental breakfast included. Friendly and clean rooms and Wi Fi service for guests.

Very centrally located in Montreal. Easy to get around in the city center (three blocks) good price and quality.

It is what it is. It is a place for young adults to party and go party. If you have kids don't go. Or your an older couple don't stay there.

We stayed only for 1 night and terribly shock as we mistakenly booked a smoking room which we bring up to them if they can change as we have 2 kids with us and no remedy given to us dec 30/2016. We suffer for one night as we need to open the window for the smell to get out (so cold) and the receptionist knocked in our room to tell us our television is too loud (not sure if its loud coz it is inside the cabinet) and why he needs to knock our door and not just call us over the phone?

This is my second time staying here, not by choice. Accidentally booked wrong date initially and was left with no choice but to pay the night of and the accidental date, as they would not make any sort of accommodation. They, in particular Denis, refused to help in anyway. Hotel smells bad. No parking. Was told we could park in a a specific area first time and got a parking ticket… Deposit was never refunded… Scott helped upon check in the second time, the date that was accidentally and non refundably booked. He was pleasant and we thought we may enjoy our stay. Once the shift changed and Denis took over that changed. He came to our room to tell us we were too loud, just two girls, at 11pm. When we went to leave at nearly 12 we opened our door to discover he was silently standing outside of it listening. Very creepy and disturbing. We have no idea how little he was standing there for! We will be filing a formal complaint with the owners, however they do not appear to care.

Don't ever pay a penny for this crappy "hotel" I don't know where to start from I will go get another hotel now! Currently it's 3:30am, I just woke up from my sleep from loud noises outside and inside this so called hotel (people yelling & banging doors and it seems like their walls have 0 noise insulation). Bed sheets were not done when we came, freaking fake-eyelashes was on the floor, bathtub is super dirty & fridge leaking. Don't let the "cheap" price bring you here 0/10

Stayed there for 10 days close to town, not the ritz but you get what you pay for staff very friendly long as your polite, very helpful chaps kinda enjoyed the retro 70's vibe area is a bit of a dive with lot of homeless kicking about but I saw that outside $1, 000 dollar a night hotels there its just Montreal problem.

Everything was good, but only when we stayed in room 416. The bed was really uncomfortable in 410. Girlfriend had a backache in the morning.

I've stayed here several times. Its obviously not a luxury hotel but is clean and quiet. It is old but well maintained and the location is good — close to down town, the metro (subway) etc. Don't use the parking they partner with, Ask them about the nearby college; its a short walk, underground and cheaper.

The hotel has no parking and suggests a city lot close by, but does a poor job explaining the restrictions within that lot. Woke up the first morning to a missing car, a trip across the city in a cab, and a tow fee of $116 to get my car back. The receptionist at the Hotel service desk knew the address and phone number by heart, which leads me to believe this happens regularly. Woke up the second morning to find myself covered in bed bug bites and discovered that the room was infested. Disgusting.

It was an older place, the Wi-Fi kicked in and out, the breakfast was next-to-nothing and the pillows were not very comfortable, BUT the hotel itself was in a nice, quiet location and the staff were friendly enough. The bathroom was real nice too, and for two nights, it was great, especially for the price. I wouldn't stay there for any longer than two nights though.

I stayed at the hotel August 19 to 21, 2015. The room was clean with air conditioning. Hotel was close to public metro which can take you to the most interesting places at the Montreal in 5 min and provides a connection to the airport. Nice simple breakfast is served every day. Very nice workers at the lobby of the hotel.

I was watching the reviews of the hotel and some people were saying that there were some bed bugs in that hotel. My friend had already booked at the hotel and it wasn't refundable, so we went anyways saying that we won't see any… Well guess what? I've found a bed bug when we arrive… So I highly recommend not going there! Don't be stubborn as we were… Bed bugs are a nightmare…

Probably the worst experience a person can have at a hotel. Car got towed from the lot they told us to park at costing us 3x more than the hotel did. Didn't get the room we ordered. One bed instead of two. It was hot and muggy the entire time and the service was rude upon asking for anything. Do not stay here.

Just stayed there from this past Wednesday until yesterday, we inspected the bed and found no bed bugs, it was pretty clean, its in a good location to downtown only a 10 min walk to the strip of good stores and restaurants. The night life near by is also spectacular but to the good clubs and bars is about a 25 min walk which isn't that bad! I would stay here again for the price of $50 a night. But the breakfast is literally one type of bagel (no cream cheese) three types of bread, and two types of cereal with two different types of juice and then coffee so there isn't much to offer.

This hotel is extremely horrendous. The amount of effort they put in to scam you and take your money is sad, and it's effort wasted. This place feels like a jail. From the curfew they make you follow, or the bars on the windows, and the extreme temperatures. Oh. By the way. If you don't follow the curfew you get charged 150 dollars. Upon entrance you will see a very 70s type of furnish. The elevator will probably be broken and you'll have to take the curry smelling narrow stairs. After you enter your floor you'll see a luxurious view of old ACs and beautiful little stacks of garbage. When you enter your bedroom you'll be able to relax on your uncleaned bed and on your cozy 30 year old mattress. The room is wonderfully furnished with 20 year old TVs that don't work and a nightstand that might be as old as the manager here. And onto the walls, you'll see on your left a beautiful pattern of nothing with a wallpaper that looks as if somebody peed on it and forgot to clean it up. Also did I mention the large square hole in the wall? I didn't know Alice from Wonderland lived here.

This is a shithole filled with bedbugs. Lots of Bedbugs crawling out of the matresses didnt allowed us to sleep at night, we checked at daytime and didnt saw anything but these things come out in the dark do its difficult to see them. We asked for our money back for the remaining nights reserved and captured the bugs and show it to them. They said the mánager didnt work on weekends so we had to wait until we left montreal for a solution and didnt seem to care at all then began blaming us for bringing bugs even when the beds were clearly infested a long time ago. We insisted on a inmediate solution and they called the police and laughed at us and started threatening us. When the police came, the staff acted politely and helped us very cinycally. We explained the situation to the police and they helped us to denounce the hotel at the authorities and recommended better hotels. We only asked our money back for the nights we werent going to use, when the right thing to do for them was to reimburse all nights . We insisted that was the minimum thing to do about the lack of hygiene (old infested mattresses filled with holes). We were really mad at the rudeness and lack of education of the staff, this place should be shut down and burned along with the people working there.

The only positive about this hotel is close to the bus, metro and walking distance of many thing can you do as a tourist period. In almost seven days never the floor was vacuum. Has and old stereo TV set Zenith! No water, coffee o freezer in the room. No security box. If you want some refreshment, you have to go to a vending machine (near the breakfast area) and pay $2 CD for water of soda. If you want to see TV, well good luck. 80% of the channels are not in the package and of course no listing available. You can find an American TV series but in French. Definitely not my idea of an hotel. In a scale of 1 to five this is a 2 hands down. Choose wise. Have a good time on the beautiful Old Montreal.

This is one of the worst hotels I've ever had the displeasure of staying in. The ceiling was leaking the moment I stepped inside the hotel, the receptionists were not very understanding of the situation we were in, and scammed us completely with money. For 11 rooms, we had to pay nearly $3, 000, + a $550 (50 per room) deposit fee which was never returned. Apparently some strangers came in the hotel, began making noise outside one of our rooms, and then they took our deposit fees (despite the fact that this was on the 4th floor, while 6 of our rooms were on the 1st floor! Horrible communication, poor location, will do anything to get money out of you, just an AWFUL experience.

WORST HOTEL EVER! Got there late at night and was creeped out by the location (looked like something out of a horror movie) checked into our room which was alright considering it's a 2 star hotel. Got ready and went out, came back later that night with some friends and had a little party of 8 people in the room. Next thing we know we get a phone call from the front desk saying we have 5 minutes to leave the room as the police are on their way. Being in complete shock we packed everything as fast as possible and as we were leaving our floor the police were coming out of the elevator, we told them we were on our way out and they said okay we went to the lobby where the manager said we were being too loud and that guests were complaining so instead of giving us a warning he decided to kick us out immediately. Here's the best part after asking for our refund considering we didn't even get to sleep in the hotel yet he said and I quote "Come back in the morning and you'll get it" after roaming the streets for a new hotel we finally get one (Days Inn, WAY BETTER AND ONLY COST A BIT MORE). We sleep for a few hours then go back for our refund only to be told that we're not getting it back after paying for 3 nights 4 days. The person at the front desk called the manager telling him about his deal with us about the refund where the manager responded "I never said that". Didn't end up getting a refund, got treated poorly and ruined my first experience at Montreal.

Overview: good place to stay for a night or two. The neighbourhood is nice but a little scary at night, but as long as you're not alone you should be fine. It's a 5 minute walk to St. Catherine, where everything is. There's a metro stop along the way to St. Catherine (St. Laurent) that had some cool projector art thing going on at night. The hotel itself is on a hill so if you're walking and carrying a lot of stuff, be prepared for that. The lobby is very nice, well decorated and clean. The staff were respectful and pleasant and spoke both French and English (obviously). The room we stayed in had one king size bed and didn't have a ton of room for much else but, as long as you aren't planning to spend a ton of time in there, you could stay for a long time there. The room was clean. The bed sheets were a little stained but it looked like coffee and that's a hard stain to get out so they didn't lose points in my books. We checked for bed bugs. Three times. Nothing. Got home, still nothing. If you're worried about it, check the bed yourself but in my experience the bed was clean if not a little old. The ceiling was a little noisy with heavy foot steps. 24/7. We got in at 3pm there were people walking loudly, we came back around 6 or 7 still foot steps. We came back again at 12 amish. Still footsteps. Then, in the morning, they serve breakfast till 10 am. Coffee, tea, cereal, bagels, bananas, and very good croissants (some with chocolate) oh, they also had juice.
