Clean, quaint, and comfortable. Shared bathrooms, but they're cleaned often. Hallways are a little rough, but the rooms are fine. No elevator, but it's only 4 stories. Staff is super friendly, and there's free breakfast. Plus it's cheap. They don't advertise to be anything they're not, and unless you're spending all your time in your room, it's the perfect place to stay.

Great location for a good price. The room was spacious and neat. We had no issues at all.

Stay was pleasant overall for the price, however the Wi-Fi, at least on the 3rd floor was almost useless. Very slow most of the time, and on some days so slow it was almost useless. Aside from the Wi-Fi, I have no complaints.

In the quartier des arts, this hotel is close to (1 min walk ;-) ) theatres, restaurants… Don't expect a business class hotel but for a good price you have: — quiet place — never had issues with soundproof — 24 hour reception — automatic coffee machine in corridor — CLEAN and nicely furbished room — Good amount of amenities in bathroom. — Good quality steam iron and its table… I would suggest… — A decent internet, as the current one is simply not acceptable. — Double bed is more a 1.5… not sure I was given the room I have paid for… — For this budget, I would put large shampoo and bath gel dispensers in the shower instead of multiple nice but costly individual tubes.

The place was decently priced and the location was awesome. However, the stairs are a deathtrap, the floors were uneven and the hallway bathrooms were poorly managed. The beds were uncomfortable and felt like thick cardboard. The building had lots of quirky personality. Worth staying at least one night just to see the oddities — such as the bizarre paintings.

Great location. Didn't have the breakfast, seemed pretty bad. The hotel is full of strange and unique pieces of art, which I enjoyed. The bathrooms aren't in the rooms and the shower didn't seem to want to heat up. Would stay again.

Pretty good for a budget hotel. Read a ton of reviews before going so we were a little hesitant of what to expect. The staff was friendly, even offering to keep our stuff behind the desk while we wait for our room to be ready. First time staying in a hotel without a private restroom and unfortunately one of the bathrooms on our floor was out of service so there was only the one for the floor. Didn't cause much of a problem for us though. The room itself was ok, the bed was rock hard and the sheets looked to be about thirty years old. We only stayed one night so we dealt with it. Not sure if I would stay more than one night here.

Nice unique hotel. Very neat and clean room and bathroom. It's located near to all the attractions and shops and restaurants.

First of all, trying to get to the hotel with suitcases was challenging from an Uber as the street is closed to vehicle traffic during our stay. You can't be dropped off right at the door. You are greeted at the front by an extremely long, narrow, crooked and wet with dripping water set of stairs to the lobby. This is very challenging with a pair of suitcases. The lobby is nice, although very hot. For whatever reason the fireplace was on even though it was 24 degrees outside. The man at the desk was friendly but his directions to the room were very poor so we ended up in the labyrinth of confusing hallways. Let me be perfectly clear… there are no elevators here. We walked up 3 flights of stairs because of the misdirection and back down the 3 flights of stairs and then up 3 flights of stairs to the correct room. With backpacks and suitcases in tow, this would have brought an olympic athlete to his knees. The rooms are small but modern and clean. The air conditioning was quick to cool the room. We needed it after the endless staircases! Apparently there are no noise bylaws in Montreal because at 5:30 am sharp every day we were abruptly woken by the extremely loud construction going on at the new building across the street. Not just average noise… the bone jarring, earth shaking of a track excavator with a backup alarm scraping rocks and debris and dropping it into the infinite line up of dump trucks waiting to have rock laden earth dropped in them from a height.

Cheap and very conveniently located. Don't mind the sex shop at the corner. Maybe just makes it less family friendly, but in any other scenario don't doubt it. At least the rooms with private bathrooms.

Room was different from photos. No bathroom in the room — shared with floor. Tiny shower. Breakfast was decent and free Wi-Fi was a bonus!

Pretty good. The location is perfect, close to everything downtown. Shared bathrooms is a little bit of a turn off but the hotel is cosy none the less.

Loads of stairs, and the lobby leads to two different and mutually exclusive hotels (as in, there are rooms with the same number, but you get to them via different sets of stairs). Other than those minor quibbles, we had a fantastic stay. Wifi was adequate and location was perfect for what we wanted to see.

They gave me a room with shared washroom even though I specifically booked a private one however they were very apologetic and comped the room.

Hotel located on Ste-Catherine Street, near the St-Laurent metro and Place des Arts. Right in the heart of the entertainment district. No elevator. Ideal for short stay and small budget.

Second visit, terrible. The overnight staff tried to scam us for $20 cash for booking four people in a 2 double bed bedroom. We gave him the card instead so he didnt do anything with it. Just beware of it, other than that, its a central location and ok stay.

Great location. Clean rooms. Thin walls and a lot of Street noise if you have a street side room. Ear plugs and an eye mask are recommended. Parking is at CDJ. Would crash there again, but it's best to think of as an upgraded hostel.

Super cheap compared to nearby hotels. Not very modern feeling and some of its state is laughable, but nothing to stop me from going back. Really great location, just in the center of all the major things to visit in Montreal.

The rooms were small but adequate, with sparse hard beds. That said you can't beat the price and location.

We have been staying there for 2 years on our yearly trip to Montreal and we are still going there this year! Yes, we found our diamond! This hotel is cozy, clean, has character and it is close to everything from shopping, restaurants, quartier des spectacles and bars. I would not stay anywhere else than hotel quartier des spectacles when I visit Montreal!

Very nice receptionist when we arrived. We were treated amazing and even offered a better room then what I had booked. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable we even had the tlc channel to watch! The only thing is because of the location it can get a bit rowdy at night. But don't judge this place by the shops around it outside. This place is truly a diamond in the rough! And you can't beat the location! will definately recommend this hotel to friends. Thank you for a lovely stay ☺

We stayed in the budget room with a shared washroom. $83 for the night and an extra $25 for parking behind the hotel. Great location for city doers.

ABSOLUTELY NOT RECOMMENDABLE! We booked the hotel for a short stay in Montreal for two nights and payed full in advance. The check-in was okay and the staff was really friendly and helpful, so that was not the problem. The "lobby" (if you want to call it like that) looks pretty shabby and the access next to a huge Sex Shop speaks for itself. The night was gruesome — we didn´t close an eye for a minute. Not only are most of the rooms located directly above a noisy pedestrian precinct where there is loud techno-style disco music ALL NIGHT until about 4 AM. You also have no chance to close the window, as there is the AC and you can´t really filter the noise. The doors have huge cracks to the hallway so you hear everybody all night long. The house itself seems to be quite old, so every step you take leads to loud noises (for example from the room above you — as soon as somebody stands up and walks around, you believe that there is a race track directly in your room. Just terrible! Speaking of sounds — as you can easily overhear any conversation done in these rooms we could also witness the price of the prostitute the guy in the neighbouring room discussed with her. And not only could we hear her price, if you know what I mean… The rooms were quite clean and looked okay, the bathroom was clean as well. Nevertheless there was hair and stains on the bed. Not really our idea of a nice cleanup.

I highly recommend that everyone stay at another hotel. I visited this hotel on a small vacation with some friends and everything was fine until we came into the hotel late one night. There was a person at the front desk by the name of HICHMAN; this man proceeded to approach my party and I with integration about how we were able to stay in the hotel and if we were actual guess. My friends and I paid (in full) for our rooms and we expected to be treated as paying customers however the receptionist, HICHMAN, made our stay very uncomfortable. His actions were deplorable, and I felt extremely threaten by a huge man approaching me (a petite women) in such an angry manor. save your money and go to the hyatt down the street!

Beautiful, modern, clean, and recently updated hotel! Friendly staff and the location is central to everything. Don't let the sex shop next door scare you haha. We walked everywhere around the city. Thanks for a great stay in Montreal!

I had the chance to stay safe from the traveller lately. I than praise for this little paradise in the center of Montreal. Besides the location which was ideal, I loved this hotel for its cleanliness, its rustic and the friendliness of the staff. I felt at home. For the comfort and especially for the home. I recommend this little gem. And it's guaranteed that I will return. Thanks to the staff!

Great location, affordable, nice staff.

I was very surprised to find such a reasonably priced hotel right in the middle of downtown Montreal and was concerned that it might be kind of a dump for the price. After extensive research on several travel sites, I found that most people had had a positive experience, so I booked a basic double room with shared bathroom. Two nights came to just over $100. The check in experience was very easy, and the woman at the front desk was extremely accomodating. She gave me the keys to several rooms which were avaliable, and invited me to go check them out. We ended up getting a larger room that what I paid for. It is an older building, but both the room and the hall bathrooms were impreccably clean. This place isn't fancy by any means, but for a low cost, no frills accomodation, it was perfect. It is just a block from a metro station and within easy walking distance of many areas of intrest within the city. The photos on the website are accuate to the quality of the rooms. 10/10, will book again.

This is a great hotel to stay at if you're traveling on a budget. The rooms are great for the price and it's right in the center of downtown Montreal. The staff is very friendly and helpful. On my latest visit I lost my passport while I was there and when they found it they mailed it home to me free of charge. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Montreal.

In family holiday, the hotel offers small studios with kitchenette at a great rate. Clean, renovated room. Perfect location for visiting Montreal. Do not rely on the exterior (studios), of the street, the building looks aging.

Good experience. Friendly staff, even though I don't speak a word of French they were super understanding and did everything to make my stay as nice as possible. Great price, great location, bring ear plugs if you want to sleep with the windows open as it is a loud neighbourhood. The building itself is very old but for the price you pay you really can't complain. Great for couples going to Montreal for a weekend away.

Great little hotel. The rooms are sparse but clean, the staff is helpful and nice (especially David), and the location is amazing. At first we were worried that it would be noisy at night, being on the second story over looking st. Laurent blvd, but with the A/C on it was perfectly quiet. Also, there are 3 shared bathrooms on each floor and there never was a problem with a line for us.

I stayed here over the Easter Weekend of 2013 and was pleasantly surprised how nice it was. I had purchased a deal on Teambuy last year since the deal was really good *$59 per night for the Superior room. At first I was quite skeptical about staying at this hotel and was doubting the quality since I know it's right in the heart of the Montreal downtown aka the party district. However, upon arriving, after going up a flight of stairs (only downside in my opinion, no elevator) I instantly changed my mind. It was clean, tidy and cozy. Front desk staff was extremely amicable and helpful. Just like when I made the reservation over the phone. The lady over the phone had kindly reserved the quiet room for me and when I arrived at the hotel in the early afternoon to check in, I was more than happy to find out that they have upgraded me to a 2 queen-bed room right at the very end of the corner corridor instead of the 1-bed queen Superior room that came with the deal. Since my room was right at the corner, I barely heard any noises throughout my entire stay. The bed was firm, just the way I like it. Sheets are clean and soft. Very decent sized dresser to hang your coats or delicate clothing. The bathroom was newly renovated. It looked very modern. Has some gray ceramic tiles and a stand-up shower. Location is golden.
