My wife and I have been coming here for a number of years for a little “stay-cation”, booking a nice room and going for massages at Ten Spa. We’ve always enjoyed excellent, courteous service and a comfortable, quiet stay previously. Not so, this visit. After retiring to our room on the 6th floor at 11:00pm, we noted very loud music. On bringing this to the attention of the front desk, we were assured that Security would investigate right away. 20 minutes later, no change in noise level or follow up by any staff regarding our complaint. My wife called the front desk and spoke with “Lydia”, who told us that there was a party going on until 12:30am, and they could “ask” the DJ to turn the music down but otherwise we were on our own. “Lydia” further claimed that we were supposed to be advised at check in that we were being accommodated right next to a party room — obviously, this was not done. So, 12:35am rolls around, the music is still blasting and the missus and I are truly livid. She calls down to speak with the Night Manager, and expresses our profound disappointment. After a couple of excuses and offer of “complementary parking”, we simply advise the woman that we would be filing a complaint with Hotel Management, as well as every single hotel review website that we can find. I am 55 years old, and have travelled all over the world. I’ve stayed in grass huts in Northern Thailand, a Chieftains’ House in Ghana with gold bathroom fixtures, and (REAL) 5 star hotels in Paris, Zurich and other cities. This night at the Fort Garry was the worst I’ve ever experienced, hands down. Go elsewhere, I hear the Fairmont is nice.
