Stayed here for the second time and loved the vibe! Will come back.

Our car broke down and we were stranded in Banff for 5 days. Mount Royal was a wonderful place to stay with comfortable rooms and very helpful staff. Nice views from the room and perfect location.

What an amazing hotel! Booked here last minute while I’m Banff. Beautiful art-deco themed place. The concierge was extremely knowledgeable and helpful, lovely rooms with comfortable and clean beds/linens. The 5th floor has two hot tubs over looking the town and mountains. Stay here!

We had a wonderful stay. Everyone was very helpful. It was nice to be so close to everything as well. I parked for the weekend and walked to everything we needed. Loved it.

There are two big flaws with this hotel, that makes it really not worth staying at, given the huge amounts of other hotels in Banff to choose from. Noise: All the rooms have poor sound insulation, despite being brand new. You can hear neighbours next door, people in the corridor coming home late at night, and noise from outside. They even give earplugs in the rooms because they know of the noise issue. The worst thing? Half the rooms face the busy busy main street of Banff, and some rooms face this noisy bar playing dance music till the early hours of the morning. So if you're not the party type, avoid. Service:I had emailed before my stay to request a quiet room. And then two days before my stay, I had even dropped by reception to ask for a quiet room, and the "note" was passed on to the management team. Turned up — they assigned me the worst room, the one closest to the noisy bar at the back. Only at 1am in the morning, when I went downstairs, did they then provide another room (why not give that if it was available to begin with? ) At checkout at 9am, I asked to speak to a manager, and was told that the manager only comes in later in the morning, like 10-11am. Wow. What kind of hotel has a manager that comes in late? One that likes to miss all the customer complaints, I bet. I left my number and email, and asked to be contacted by the manager when he gets in. That was 7 days ago. No contact.

This place is perfect. Right down town in the heart of the mix. Everything updated with nice finishes. Rooftop with two jacuzzis (+bar with service to spa and fair drink prices). Firepit and people watching on Banff Avefrom same deck if you don't want to soak. Room was nice and updated. Everything works. Jamie and John were both awesome! Prices very competetive, value excellent. Will look to rebook when returning to Banff.

The rooms were very clean. Great location, right downtown. Staff was very nice and helpful. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking to stay in downtown Banff.

Perfect location right in the center of the town. The staff were welcoming and helpful. Really nice rooftop hot tubs. The room was smaller than expected. Overall we had an excellent experience.

Location is very central, it was just refinished so rooms were clean. Service was excellent, something happened to our room and we had to move. They compensated us for the trouble and we were happy.

Super central location to the Banff core. You can walk to everything! Parts of this place had a fire a few years ago and I am not sure where they are now with the renovations. It was a good place to stay. Fairly affordable compared to other places in town.

We visited Banff several years ago and it was one of our most memorable trips! The staff was amazing, going above and beyond their way to make us comfortable, recommending sites to see, and answering questions about the areas to explore. It was the first time my husband had ever visited outside the U. S. And I was a little worried about how his first experience would go… especially since he was nervous about the trip. It was beyond anything he had ever experienced! Thank you Banff and Mount Royal Hotel! You are a paradise among travelers!

My first visit was back in November 2016 when my husband and I went on our honeymoon there. We stayed at a lovely hotel where you could sit in a hot tub by a fireplace outside looking up at the stars. We went for several hikes as we are big into nature. We hiked up the trails of Lake Louisse despite it being covered in ice. We had a scary moment going back down but all ended well and was worth the view. We loved our stay and wished it was longer. We hope to go back again this year for our anniversary. :)

Stopped off here and stayed two nights during our Train ride across the Rockies. Great hotel and great food, hope to do it all again soon.

Hotel is still being worked on after the fire last Christmas. I use the bus stop out back to get to and from the hill.

I was at Cow's. They have good ice cream.

I have not stayed here, but I have dined at the restaurant and in the sports bar while having drinks. The food was excellent, generous portions, great servers and the sports lounge is a great place to chill out after a long day at work in Banff. The staff are great and I chilled out here a few times during my time in Banff.

Stayed in 3 Hotels in Canada… This was the best. An OK sort of 3 star. We did not buy breakfast here! Very central so all cafe, shops very walk-able.

Lovely stay here been here twice. The location is great easily accessible to the downtown area. Was able to use an AMA card to get a discount. We chose not get cleaning service because it's a waste to get new Towels and etcetera. When we opened the door they thanked us and we got $5 coupon for some surrounding restaurants. The quality of the tub and shower was okay a little bit older might of been the start of mold on the edge of the tub? but for the price and location it's very well worth it.

First off I fully understand that this is a old hotel. I have stayed in many old hotels in my time but this place was horrid. Our room was not overly clean. Sure the bedding looked clean but the bathroom was in bad shape. The shower was covered in mildew including the shower curtain. There was garbage left under the bed and on the floor of the bathroom. The room was so hot I could barely sleep and yes I tried the air conditioning. It was cranked the entire time I was there and it did nothing. There was so much hair in the jacuzzi tub it looked like a dog had been swimming in it. This hotel is not worth the price you pay. For roughly 150 a night you would think they could afford to upgrade it a but. Ventilation in the bathroom would be a good start. Despite the good location I don't recommend this hotel. You are better off to spend a few extra dollars and have a positive experience.

I gave a 3 star because the location is in downtown banff, staff are nice including the housekeepers, love the body lotion they have in the washroom — will save your skin during winter dry days. Downside: local calls are not free; no complementary water, shaver, toothbrush or any other ordinary hotels that offers — mount royal does not have these. Hotel rooms are not upgraded — meaning holiday inns have a more modern rooms than mount royal. The bathroom (sink) is a little bit upgraded but not entirely (bath tub and shower are out dated) ; only the common areas and hall ways are updated. Choose this location if you have senior citizens with you (i was with 3), if not go to the beginning of downtown where Chilli's restaurant is, those hotels are recent and more people stay there.

If there is a scale of zero I will definitely give it zero. I don't know how come the air conditioning is super super noisy which made me cannot be able to sleep. When I call the lobby the guy just told me, " if you think that is noisy you can just turn that off… " EXCUSE ME? And of course the sound insulation in this hotel sucks. The worst hotel experience.

I've stayed here a few times now, this time was the worst. My room was a shoebox for the same price as larger rooms. I had a view of a brick building and parking lot not a mountain in sight from my window (which is fine for a discounted price, not full price) the room had garbage from the previous occupant, hair stuck to the bathroom wall and very dusty lamps. Lack of cleaning may be due to the facts that the lighting in the room even with three lights on was horrible. Lastly one of the baseboards was not even attached to the wall, which I tripped on because of lack of light. It also had a few inches of dust on the wall.

This is a solid 2 star with poor housekeeping! We stayed 4 nights. Day one, they left the garbage of the previous guest? Day 2, made the bed but left everything else undone? Day 3, our keys did not work after a long day of skiing and the room was untouched? Day 4, after complaining the night manager got us towels coffee and emptied our garbage the night before, and surprisingly our room had been made up properly. It's not worth the savings and location… look elsewhere.

Two things that are great about this hotel is location, and location. Otherwise, housekeeping and bathroom supplies are almost non-existent; room is outdated, and desperately in need of carpets, furniture, curtains, and just basic repairs. Front desk staff are helpful.

The main floor was nice but the executive room 135 is gross. Mold in bathroom ceiling. Carpet is stained and looks dirty. Window frames are cracked. Drywall looks brutal. Bathroom tiles are dirty and outdated. Massive fan above door blowing loudly all the time. Ear plugs on the night stand. TV is small. Only nice thing is a big bed. Can't believe they charge over $200 a night for this premium king suite. Thumbs down for this room.

Service wise the phone did not work. The representatives however were friendly and pretty and the location was prime.

Perfect location for staying in banff. Right downtown. Small drive to the ski hills. We received a renovated room with a decent view. Very slow Wi-Fi and elevators. Overall very pleased.

Waited 2hrs to Checkin while 10 other rooms were given to others because if you make a reservation you do not get next available even if you were there 2 hrs earlier Plenty of other hotels in equally as good location.

Lobby was nice. The front desk person wasn't avaliable upon check in, was away and came back after 15 to 20 mins. The room we got had stains on the sheets. The whole rug had huge visible stains we didn't even want to take our shoes off in the room. The actual headboard of the bed had hand prints was not clean at all. The toilet was right in front of the sink making it impossible for anyone over 5 10 to use the toilet without crossing your legs. The paint was peeling off the walls. Very creepy and old feel. We bought our concerns up with the front desk and got a bit of a better room but not by much. The sheets were clean but the rug still had stains. The mattress was not comfy at all. We slept on the sheets didn't want to get in because we were scared. The washroom was a bit more updated in the second room but not by much. The staff didnt seem to care much we asked for tooth brushes and never got them. They told us they would bring us up towels never got them till we called them and reminded them the second time. I honestly regretted getting this hotel so much. It's not what they make it look like in pictures online. We even tried to find another hotel last min but everything was sold out in the village. I would not recommend staying here. Not worth the money you pay.

Older hotel but still had a great experience! Not much space for parking though. The staff were helpful and super friendly. The restaurant downstairs was terrible.

VERY thin walls and very noisy neighbours. No fridge in our room. Staff was very kind at check-in but didn't ask how our stay was at check-out. Good online coupon deal. Good parking in back lot. Clean but small bathroom. Good view of main street made afternoon nice while enjoying the room. Good to have a responsive furnace and thermostat. Bur don't stay here without very very good earplugs.

Paint pealing from the ceiling. A mattress that will pretty much guarantee a trip to a chiropractor. Light bulbs in the room that will make you psychotic. Humming from some fan down the hall the will keep you from sleeping. The only plus is that it is in one of the best locations in Banff and you won't want to stay in the room for very long. I guess a cardboard box in the alley would have been just as good.

A basic hotel with modern TV's and some rooms have fridges. The heat is controlled in your room so it can be turned down. Lobby elevator is slow and I was nervous about my skis being stored in another building. The staff are so accommodating. They will do what they can to make the stay as comfortable as they can. Convenient location with shuttle pick up from the parking lot. If you want a view or if you get drunk every night and sleeping isn't a problem, ask for a room facing main street. If you want sleep, ask for a room facing the parking lot.
