Reviews of Fairmont Hotel Macdonald 4*
Excellent good superb service.
Stopped to have a drink in Memory of a friend. Sampled a dessert too. Great service. Beautiful patio.
Amazing food, great service and a lovely view for brunch. 5 stars!
Lovely historical hotel, room is very large yet still cozy. Enjoyable experience all around.
Took my mom for her 80th birthday to High Tea. The food, service and ambiance was excellent! They put together a special dessert for her birthday and we appreciated everything so much! They also gave us a gift, thank you for making it a special day to remember!
The ambiance is so romantic with a very clean place all throughout the sorroundings. The very friendly and accomodating services of the staff to their guests is what I admired most in this very beautiful place! Foods and customer services are indeed excellent!
We were there for my wife’s birthday. She was treated awesome and everything was delightful!
Very friendly staff. Very clean. So far so good!
Extremely beautiful building. Great food, definitely suggest the tenderloin for dinner, and to drink try the allure (be careful tho it may cause extreme hangover it's that good 😍)
Service was crazy good our server was 10000000+++ on the ball.
Definitely recommend
Oh and the beds are comfy af.
Great atmosphere in a wonderful building!
The food was amazing and the service from our server Dew was top notch. Highly recommend for an evening out.
Great service, courteous staff, all in all a wonderful, beautiful, gorgeous hotel!
Great service and fantastic food.
Food is great! Service is amazing! great place to celebrate anything! if you have a question ask for Tyler!
Hotel is very welcoming and helpful. Staff are above and beyond excellent. Hotel is clean along with excelling health guidelines. A night here will help you reset and give you the mental health and relaxation that is so much needed. The outdoor patio, food, servers are spot on for giving outstanding service. My husband and I were able to forget about the ongoing covid crises while still practicing the guidelines and have the most relaxing anniversary EVER. Thank you.
We are here for our anniversary. The service has been amazing so far! Great job Hotel Macdonald!
Great place to stay or just have dinner and drinks!
Since it's lockdown, the experience was different compared to the usual accommodations (been in Fairmont Quebec and Banff) but they tried their best to make the guests comfortable. Nicolas was the best, he made an effort for the high tea in my room possible with a short notice.
Exceptionally friendly staff! quick and easy check in, lovely room.
Service was exceptionally endearing, uplifting and exceedingly professional. Had a wonderful experience, as always. A staycation of sorts. Thank you, as always!
Pleasant and friendly staff! Every need taken care of!
A level of customer service seldom encountered anymore.
Absolutely lovely. The rooms were gorgeous, the service impeccable & the food was amazing.
Beautiful rooms and a marvelous chef and menu.
Had the best time on the gold level with all the gold perks. Friendly staff, friendly housekeeping. We enjoyed a couples massage and a fabulous dinner at the restaurant.
Hotel is absolutely gorgeous with all its antique features. Loved the ballroom it was like in the movies. Stayed on 4th floor had a upgrade to the 7th but the room was wayyy too tiny. So went back to old room.
I love this hotel, because is very romántic and amazing service, they made me feel, im in home.
We had a lovely stay. The beautiful location and attention to detail is impressive. Rooms are well appointed and comfortable. Excellent service.
Beautiful surroundings, excellent food, great and attentive service. Such a fantastic evening.
Great atmostphere, great food and great staff.
Great high tea! Great view!
I’ll go back…
Beautiful views, amazing service and old world charm… :).
The hotel is an absolute must! It was a luxurious step back into the early 1900’s with some of the best service I have experienced in my travels.
Excellent dining experience and gorgeous views in the courtyard.
Great food. Fantastic setting. Good company.
So friendly and polite personnel, good food, luxury place, you get all you want, good price as compare to what you get, definitely recommend.
Loved food! Our waiters at brunch, very nice. We will be back.
Great stay at this hotel! Staff are friendly, helpful and very efficient… will definitely stay here again!
A castle in the heart of the city, absolutely magnificent and exceptional service! Took my oath of citizenship 2 weeks prior to traveling to Edmonton, upon check-in, their front desk congratulated me and I thought it was because of the free night stay certificate I won for their hotel. To my surprise, we arrived in our room with a Canadian flag on our bed, chocolate amenity on the desk and a frame that says “congratulations on your citizenship”… we were just blown away! Luke always made us feel like VIPs whenever we arrived at the hotel while Harold and Paula from the restaurant took care of us consistently during breakfast. Thank you Hotel Macdonald for a memorable stay!
I was really disappointed with my stay here both times. The first time we were originally given a room that hadn’t been cleaned and had to be moved to another room. The showers are very powerful and they hurt. The maid also left the shower head pointing out of the tub causing it to flood the entire bathroom floor when I turned it on, even though the curtain was closed. The second time I stayed the phone didn’t work, so I couldn’t order room service in the morning. They put your bill under the door in the middle of the night and they are not careful about it. The bill made a lot of noise when they shoved it under the door and woke me up with a fright at 4 a. M. When I was already not getting enough sleep. The hotel is beautiful and I expected a lot better. I wish my stay had been better because I don’t know of a prettier hotel in Edmonton. I don’t think I’ll be returning to this hotel because it has so many issues.
Welcomed at the hotel entrance by a bellman who wished us a happy anniversary. Upgraded to a suite, spacious and comfortable. Chocolates and fruit were delivered to the room, we received vouchers for free drinks in the lounge. In the restaurant the meal was wonderful and was followed by anniversary wishes which included a desert and champagne. A memorable weekend, made more special by the management and staff who went 'above and beyond'.
Great place to connect, w my GF on the patio ; awesome weather tonight … … very yummy food. Service was slow today.
Still best patio in Edmonton.!
The Fairmont hotel Macdonald is an amazing hotel and experience. The site itself is amazing and so beautiful, very well kept. The back patio is wonderful. I can't say enough about the staff, Manny Nicolas and Adam especially are amazing they make you feel at home and like family. This is such a fantastic place to stay I was amazed comfortable and at home here. I highly recommend this hotel based on my personal stay.
Had a wonderful dinner at Hotel Mac. Although the menu might not be described as adventurous, everything had was cooked perfectly. We each got the 3 course special which was an appetizer, main & dessert for $69. The portions were not overly large but I was still full after all 3 courses! The crab appetizer was delicious, as was the seafood risotto, which had a generous amount of seafood. My partner got the lamb and it was great too! As well, when we told them it was our anniversary, they brought out a little plate with "Happy Anniversary" and two little delicious brownies which was a nice touch. As well, our server, Ivan, was very attentive! We also liked that they took the care to ask if we had any allergies before taking our order.
Went with friends for the high tea and enjoyed ourselves. Lots of delicious small bites. A little disappointed that we only got to choose one tea for the whole meal, that could have been communicated more so that we would have branched out instead of all getting Earl Grey! (Although it was delicious) after the tea there's a tour and we enjoyed that too. I would do it again with another group of friends or family! It would be especially nice for out of town guests.
Expansive but good food and service.
Definitely not up to "luxury hotel" standards. Public spaces are typical CP hotel (beautiful and full of history). But the furnishings are terrible and cheap, see the peeling bonded leather chairs in the lobby bar for a great example of this. Also on one of the mornings of my 4 night stay the hotel had NO HOT WATER! I don't mean lukewarm water, only ICE COLD water. The only reason why this review gets 3 stars is because of the amazing staff at this property, they are the only reason I would return but I can promise it would only be for a drink, would never stay here again.
I just wanted to say that the food is one of my favourite. I say one of because there's no real best. It's ultra light and has this raw taste so each small course is it's own highlight. For example, if you ate somewhere and they had a watermelon soup you could describe it as summer.
The staff took every opportunity to make sure we were well cared for. The food was carefully prepared and fantastic to ever last detail. The wine pairings were well Thought out and my waiter made sure to open a fresh bottle for each tasting. It was an outstanding experience.
I am coming from a local perspective, I did not actually stay here: the staff are very welcoming in letting my friends and I walk in and admire the architecture (which is beautiful). I also love taking people to the garden in the back, and nobody ever kicked me out. It has a great view. Once, I was looking for the ravine elevator, and the staff were very kind and helpful in showing me where it was. It's a fun place to stop by and visit when you're wandering around downtown :)
I went to the Fairmont for the Mother's Day Brunch. It was amazing! We lucked out with the weather as well which helped make the photos beautiful. We were seated in the Ballroom where the setting was gorgeous, and the service so great! There was an amazing selection of food, with a station for every type of meal! I really enjoyed my time and want to come back with others to share the experience!
We visited the hotel for the brunch of the day of the Meres. The brunch was not of the same quality as the years spent. There are less selection and a more expensive price. In addition, they charge for the Mimosas, then in the years spent, it was free.
Went there for a family event. The food was delicious, but was served pretty sporadically and late for some guests. The bartender was pretty good at making sure people's wines were full but on a few occasions we had to find someone as no one was at the bar or in the room.
Fairmont was a pleasant experience I attended a wedding the venue was fantastic. The hotel overlooks the valley so it is a great photo opportunity for guests staying at the hotel. The staff were friendly and efficient I enjoyed my overnight stay.
We were actually at the Harvest Room restaurant inside the hotel (our third time there). The hotel is gorgeous, and so is that restaurant (it's also cozy, but you don't feel too closed in to other people. Nice relaxing ambience and quiet background music too). They always have excellent seasonal food, and top-notch service to boot. (It's not a cheap place to go, but having a Groupon sure helps). ;)
Great location and staff were very friendly and helpful staff. We appreciated that our young children were acknowledged and engaged in conversation by staff as much as ourselves. The room we had was nice and big with great views. The reason that I on my gave 4 stars is some rooms don't have such great soundproofing as unfortunately one side of us decided to start partying in their room at 9pm and we could hear it all going on until past 2 am. We did all the front desk who did speak to them however it did not make a difference.
An awesome piece of history combined with traditional hospitality and welcoming staff, Fairmont Hotel is sort of fairy tale abode if you want to be in Edmonton on official or personal trip. The pictures and paintings from the depth of memory lane (some as old as 1918) May turn your stay in to a peep to nostalgic era of bygone century. With antique furniture — n-furnishings, mirrors, glasses and heart warming floor furnishings, make you feel in a different zone. Menu is fabulous and so is the gym, spa to keep you healthy and pool to keep your cool before or after you have your fill in ambiance of decor’d exceptional.
I love the Fairmont collection of hotels, as do my family and friends! We have had fantastic service over the years and I only suggest staying at the Hotel Mac while in Edmonton. The hotel is well run. It is very well appointed and clean. The staff are extremely professional and friendly. Specifically Keenan comes to mind. He made my experience memorable. It is difficult to work in customer service and engage people all day but Keenan does so with a smile and a genuine warmth about him. He is engaging while keeping professional composure and its a huge asset to your team. Thank you for the great service and memories!
This hotel goes way above the call of duty, from a ride in their M5, to salt water pool, sauna, hot tub, and world class extra extra large gym. Room service is very fast and requests for things you forgot are usually provided. Food in the bar and dining areas are excellent and great proportions, not huge, just right.
We were here for Valentine's dinner at the harvest room last night. It was superb. All the six courses were delicious. The lobster and scallop was one of the best I have ever eaten. One of the best Valentine dinners my wife and I have ever had. Thanks to the chef and our waiter, we had a great night.
It looks very prestigious just from the outside. Very beautiful all around. Has such great service. But I give 4 stars because everyone should strive for even better. Very great place!
Beautifully appointed with a unique rustic flair this hotel was warm and inviting on a cold winter evening. Hotel staff were excellent! Attentive to detail and warm and welcoming as if the hotel was their own home. We ended our evening with a drink in the cozy lounge. Brunch in the morning was fabulous with so many choices and delicious offerings we couldn't possibly try it all. Again, we found the service above and beyond excellent. I highly recommend the hotel and suggest the side with the view of the river is the best!
Stayed on a recent business trip recently and everything about this hotel was fantastic. The service is impeccable. On one night, the neighbouring room was making excessive noise at 2am. When I notified the front desk, they immediately took care of it and graciously took care of my valet parking charges for the duration of my trip for the inconvenience. Their food, although a little pricey, is of good quality. Their kitchen staff are accommodating at all hours of the night as well. The pool was a little outdated but the entire spa/pool area has an upscale feel to it. The upgrade to the Gold Level is absolutely worth it. Highly recommended place!
Loved it. Stayed here for our anniversary and got the romance package. Everything was wonderful and setup when we got there. Service was quick and professional. The room we were in had a nice view of the river valley. I'm sure the view is better in the summer, but was still really nice mid-winter.
I’ve always loved the Fairmont hotels. I paid extra to expect a little bit of luxury and perfection in the details. When I arrived the front door was blocked by s curtain. So I had to walk the very cold weather to keep trying different doors until I could find one that opened. The weather was very cold but come on this is Edmonton it’s always cold in the winter. There was no concierge and I struggled to make it in with my bags. On multiple other reentries into the building I found there was no concierge as well. In my room the sink will only go very hot or very cold nothing in between. After housekeeping tidied my room, coffee mugs and wine glasses were not replaced. As well they took my housecoat but didn’t bring another. Multiple times I tried to contact room service and I couldn’t so I had to call the front desk at which point they told me to call room service. When I ordered coffee and toast everything came except for a cup for the coffee. Overall I felt like the staff were overextended rushed frustrated. New Year’s Eve I observed staff members referring guests back-and-forth to the different departments. I met a guest at the front desk who had to come down to ask for a glass of wine because room service wouldn’t answer. I understand this is an unfortunate review and I’m really not angry I will stay at Other Fairmont’s but not at this location in the future unless I know something has changed.
Was at Hotel MacDonald for a wedding, Wedgewood room which was a beautiful setting for a wedding reception. It was a served 4 course dinner. The started soup a butternut squash with creme fresh was amazing and the salad with crumbled fetta was equally amazing. The main course was great, a stuffed chicken breast filled with mushrooms roasted red peppers. The only reason it was not five out of five was due to the heat of the room. Many attempts were made to decrease the heat in the space but it was difficult due to the rest of the hotel being quite cold as it was around — 40 outside. The staff were amazing, and treated all the guests so very nicely. Would love to try a dinner there with my wife in the future.
We went there for a wedding and reception. The staff was professional and the food was really good. The architecture of the building is pretty incredible as well.
Building and lobby are gorgeous. Not enticed at all by their corporate bookings policies for events. Was planning an event here, as in, "we're going to do it at the Hotel Mac. " but was so dissuaded that we scrambled and booked elsewhere instead. Zero flexibility demonstrated, little interest shown in our event or organisation. I've never stayed here as a guest, so I can't say anything about that, other than the views are stunning, both of the exterior and from the interior.
Had our annual xmas function there. Excellent service as usual and the food (buffet) perfect. Has the best Sunday brunch in the world. Well, you'd expect that at $60 per head — totally worth it.
Service was great, even with special requests. Rooms are starting to show their age and housekeeping provided only one robe for a 2 person king bed stay. Attended a corporate event and the food was much better than last time I was there 2 years ago.
Not at all like other Fairmont experiences. Room was not available until 2 hours after stated check in time. Room is dated, wallpaper patched and peeling off the walls. Chairs in the bar are frayed and the stuffing is visible on the arms. Friday evening and the only restaurant on the property was a private party, so only place to eat was the bar. I understand it is an historic building, but the property needs updating, and it needs to be representative of the Fairmont Brand.
So my wife already reviewed our stay but I feel a bit different. She was told she was being given a deal and a room with a view to enjoy the view of the city. When I booked in we were given a room on the second floor. A little disappointing, as there was no view of the city, but the balcony walkway. The bed was quite uncomfortable and I left the hotel with a sore back which I haven’t had from a bed in a few years. The sound travels through the walls a bit too easily. Other than that the staff were very helpful and professional. The brunch was very tasty but perhaps a bit overpriced at $130 with 2 drinks.
It is a nice place to go just to just have some uninterrupted relaxing time. One of the few historic buildings that is still in Edmonton and it is beautiful. When my grandparents moved to Canada from Poland after world war 2… he helped with Reno’s and extension of the hotel McDonald. There are old pictures that are up in the hallways of this building. You have a feeling of going back in time… where people road horse and buggies. The people who work there are wonderful and the brunches are absolutely delicious with amazing service. We have stayed at fantasy land hotel… and it was run down… dirty and way over priced. This hotel was less than half the price we paid at fantasy land and would go back again. To park is the expensive part as it is down town.
My mother surprised my husband and I by booking us a room here with the Romance Package on our wedding day! Everything was perfect, the room was spacious with a stunning view, the chocolate dipped strawberries and champagne were delicious, all the staff professional and friendly. We ordered room service and were pleased with everything we ordered and how quickly it arrived, we had breakfast in The Harvest Room and it was also amazing with big portions (my husband couldn't finish! ), the valets were quick and very friendly. Highly recommend!
We are never disappointed with the service we get at the hotel MacDonald. The food can be a little grandiose, but is usually very tasty. They have an excellent designer cocktail menu, and the staff are always willing to go above and beyond for their guests. It is a little more expensive, but definitely worth the cost.
Great stay. The property is gorgeous and they've put some thought into the maintenance and updating of the main hotel features. Room was beautifully appointed and the thermostat actually worked. Really well! Was well taken care of at the Confederation lounge on multiple night. The staff in the lounge are awesome! The gym here is great. Best hotel gym I've been too. The pool was okay but considering the gym options I didn't mind. Only single issue I had was that they need to clean and maintain the steam room better. Smelled mildwey and gross.
Went here for a wedding. Had a pint of their own honey beer which was delicious. Nice views looking south of downtown. Great service during the wedding reception.
The hotel was very nice and clean and all the staff were accommodating as well. Definitely a place I would say is worth staying the night at least once. The main problem I had with it though isn't exactly a fault of the hotel itself, but more so the location. Finding reasonable parking close by is truly abysmal, so it's something that should certainly be factored into the cost of staying the night (s) here.
Hotel was terrible and $700 cash went missing from my room! I tried to talk to management and they dismissed me. We have stayed in hotels all over the work and left things in our room and NEVER did anything go missing! I even called Head Office to let them know what happened over 3 week ago. Nothing yet! we cant believe a company this large would not try to help us more to find out where this $$$ went. I only gave them 1 star because I could not post this otherwise! It would be nice to hear from someone. Terrible!
My wife and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary and booked through Groupon for a dinner for 2. The service was outstanding and the food was delicious. When my wife booked she was asked if their was a special occasion and she let them know it was our anniversary. We didn't think anything of it but we were blessed with a complimentary dessert and wine. Overall it was an amazing experience.
Amazing view! Can't get over how good it is to see the entire valley. The pub has good food and it seems good local beer on the menu, even though I didn't have any for lunch.
Beautiful historic hotel, lots of charater. Service from all departments of operation were excellent. Friendly polite and informative staff, all staff. Pre stay contact from hotel staff regarding special requests, arrival time, parking etc was awesome. Harvest room restaurant. The food was excellent. Quantity and quality. Service from all staff was impeccable. Highly recommend the MacDonald hotel for those special occasions.
We recieved a Romance Package as a gift. The view was amazing and the service was top quality. All the people we interacted with were very friendly and helpful. Really enjoyed our stay here.
Great value if you catch a discounted price. The building itself is amazing too see, and the room was comfortable and clean. Staff were great.
We had our wedding reception at the Fairmont Hotel MacDonald. Awesome venue with amazing food and excellent service. Shout out to Mr. Danilo Madrid for his very special fruit carvings, helping me select the best food choices possible, and his generous and kind heart in helping us make our celebration run so smoothly! The entire team was amazing and Mr. Madrid went above and beyond for us! Can't thank you enough!
Went to the Fairmont Hotel MacDonald for brunch. Food was fantastic as well as the service. Located in their ballroom which was beautiful. The ballroom was attached to a patio and grassy area that overlooked the river valley — gorgeous! They also had some lawn games available outside. Great experience.
I grew up in Edmonton and the McDonald Hotel. Great to come back, after 25 years, to the homey tradition and personal service of this grand dame hotel. Leon (Mr. Fixit) repaired my favorite eyeglasses after I stepped on them first thing; the desk staff was very helpful (I am sorry I cannot remember your unusual name-you had just moved to Edmonton) and the room staff did such cute things as to tuck in my bear travel pillow and organize my makeup in the bathroom. The food was good and everyone was friendly and helpful. I posted this review also on TripAdvisor with some photos to illustrate my comments Thanks All.
We recently stayed at The Hotel Fairmont MacDonald while in town for a concert. The service was perfection as was the hotel and it's rooms. Our dinner in the Harvest room was amazing (highly recommend the beef tenderloin). Our stay started with the valet finding out our names (and they then proceed to greet us by name every time we entered or exited the building), taking care of our baggage, and guiding us to the lobby. We were greeted by the resident canine, Smudge, a beautiful and friendly golden lab. The desk staff was friendly and efficient. When they checked our booking, we found ourselves upgraded to a wonderful room. Considering this was a concert night and we were booking in as all the dance and backup performers for the concert were boarding their busses to get to the stadium, they handled the mayhem with professionalism and expertise. We had opportunity to meet the house keeping team and were impressed with their friendliness and willingness to make our stay as memorable as possible. They had made a dog out of some towels and had put a baseball cap on it from his favorite hockey team as a gift for him. I can't say enough about how wonderful it is to stay in a hotel where the quality of your stay is their most important thing. I recommend them to everyone when they're heading to Edmonton. We can't wait for the Gold floor to open next month. If their standard for regular guests is this high, I can only imagine what they're going to do for the gold floor guests.
Holy wow. If you like the finer things in life this place is for you. They have a high class atmosphere. The view of the city is gorgeous, and the building itself is just phenomenal. The staff is super courteous and professional. Although the food there is expensive and short on quantity it doesn't sacrifice quality. You're definitely paying for the experience.
Only 4 diamond heritage hotel in Edmonton. They just celebrated 100 last year. Incredible views of the city from any suited as it's on the river valley and in the heart of downtown. The food is oh so good, as the chef is actually from France and he's worked at Michelin star hotels if I recall correctly. They were the first in the city with a hospitality dog named Smudge. I love going to brunch here. You definitely get your money's worth of food and quality.
The Fairmont MacDonald does not disappoint! The staff are incredibly friendly, knowledgable and welcoming! The entrance is grand and its location at the top of the hill gives you a wonderful view down across the river and countryside. It's also super central to stroll into downtown Edmonton although the MacDonald itself has some superb dining options. The rooms are large, quiet and as always, well appointed. For a romantic weekend away or a short business trip, the Fairmont MacDonald is the hotel to experience in Edmonton!
Went for drinks with old friends. The service was great as expected. Beers were reasonably priced and the cocktails, although expensive, were superb. I really enjoyed the outdoor patio. The view of the river valley was great as expected, music was light so I could hear my friends talking and the whole area is sheltered from the busy roads next to the hotel (I couldn't hear any traffic). The server kept bringing an ample supply of pretzel mix the entire time. After it got cooler we moved inside to a table with incredibly comfortable armchairs. A great place for a night out.
Beautiful hotel with fantastic customer service. Great central location. Loved the atmosphere and the pool is amazing.
Spent a night here with my wife and two children. The service is second to none. We have visited before with my daughter for lunch. They always treat her like a "princess". She calls this hotel a "castle".
Amazing food in the restaurant. Great views of the river side. A bit on the pricey side but you are paying for quality.
Beautiful hotel with a nice view of the river. Helpful friendly staff. Nice quiet rooms. Breakfast buffet is also really well done.
The location is downtown Edmonton with a great view out over the river valley. The room was amazing with a nice little cheese and fruit plate to welcome you to the room. We had the kitties with us so we had the do not disturb sign up. The service is always amazing and friendly. We had dinner at the Harvest Room built-in to the hotel and the food was amazing. I had the beef tenderloin and my fiancée had the Arctic Char. They had a deal on their website advertised for December, but apparently it was only a one day special on the 4th. They gave us complimentary wine as an apology. Which of course they didn't have to. Always nice staying there. I highly recommend it. Especially when they have their rate deals.
Stayed here for my boyfriend's company Christmas party. Rooms are not huge, but adequately sizes. Amenities are very good. Room was very nice, but lacked a vanity. Hotel staff were all very friendly and helpful. Service was fantastic.
Shit obscene, killed about a wall morons.
Stayed here twice. First time was for my wedding and I left explicit instructions for champagne, roses etc. To be in our suite when we arrived but they were not there. Second time was for an anniversary as a throwback to our wedding and I was told there would be rose petals, lavender, and candles waiting but instead I got a handful of fake, plastic petals and some cheap battery-powered tea lights (which they charged me $50 for). The rooms themselves are nice, the lounge is great, and the grounds are gorgeous. But considering they pride themselves on being the only 4-star hotel in Edmonton you would think they would take customer service a little more seriously.
Not too bad. I enjoyed the food but the other guests in the hotel were quote noisy.
Rooms have been updated and are wonderfully comfortable! Love the location which is right downtown and close to some great restaurants. If you're lucky to get a river side room, you're rewarded with a superb view of the terrace and garden below. Iconic hotel, which now also comes with a friendly lab "Smudge" that you can take out for a walk or jog.
I went there for a marriage. The food was exquisite, the wine too. Service is impeccable and professionnal. The restaurant is classy and there was a nice atmosphere.
I have stayed at this hotel several times. This hotel has no respect for loyal customers. It is a penny pinching hotel with arrogant and incompetent management that does not care about loyal customers (I am a Fairmont President club platinum member) \ In one of my stay they shut the water in the whole hotel without bothering to leave a note in my room. When I went to have a shower there was no water in the whole hotel! they told me the water would be cut the whole day! they did not even tell me! obviously I was irrate, wouldn't you if the hotel doesnt inform you prior? in the end, a manager called an offered me a suite upgrade for the next stay which I accepted and moved on so I continued to stay at the hotel. In my last stay I was not able to come on the day. The hotel charged me a no show! even though I stayed more than 10 times! not only that but they charged a different card than was put on the reservation without my authorization! then they told me that they had been storing all my credit card detail without telling me! all the cards that I have used to pay my bills were stored by this hotel and they would charge whichever one they felt like without even telling me naturally I was not happy. But what did the hotel do? I RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE MOST ARROGANT PERSON I HAVE DEALT WITH IN THE HOTEL INDUSTRY: AFIF SALIBI WHO TOLD ME THEY WOULD NOT REFUND MY CHARGE Until my issues are resolved, I am very wary about staying at this hotel.
If you are looking for a "High class" feel, this might be the place for you. The furniture is antique'y, the lobby and building are architectural, and the staff is formal. If you are just looking for a place to sleep for a night, I would suggest somewhere else. There is no free internet (wireless or wired, costs $14.95 CAD for 24 hrs), they leave multiple items around the room (bottles of water, candy bars, coffee pouches, etc. ) that are insanely high priced, and the view really isn't worth the price. Is it so much to ask for free wireless.
Excellent, heated, panoramic-view-of-River-Valley Patio. Don't miss Crab Cakes in Lounge. Patio is accessible from inside Lounge, but to give Doorman a heart Attack, try going through glass revolving door at Entrance on your Electric Scooter/wheelchair, before being rushed to Side Entrance! Harvest Room has good selection of Beef Dishes. This is, after all, Cattle Country, so don't ask for K. D. Lang Vegetarian Meal! No Valet Parking for wheelchairs, though.
