Wonderful and beautiful place in San pedro.

Beautiful place, its a family and couples place.

Yesterday 15 family members were given a hard time and basically asked to leave because of not spending enough money. Drinks, appetizers and some light lunches apparently are not enough. The server was very rude and apparently does not understand customer service also creates a larger positive cash flow.

We spent our first night in a bungalow that was infested with hundreds of black bugs which were dead on our blankets and all over the floor in the am. To say it was disgusting would be an understatement. They moved us to another bungalow with a misquote net. When we asked that the night stay be removed from our bill we were told that it was not possible since they had no control… however it was the only room that was infested since there was no mention by other customers or bugs in our second room. So if you want to spend $400 a night for a luxury property infested with bugs this is the place for you.

Good food, great ambiance from breakfast to dinner times. Service can be a bit slow… But that's ok.

Terrible place. The standard is so low, the food is horrible and the prices are way too high. Because it's isolated you have no alternative but buying everything there which in our opinion was under standard and so expensive. Definitely not value for money. The swimming pool is nice but forget about the beach. It's very basic and the approach to the water uncomfortable. In the photos it looks like a 5 stars hotel but in reality the place has so much to learn in terms of service, quality and entertainment. The only thing I can recommend are the nice rooms but it doesn't help when everything around is so amateur.

We were looking for a quiet, relax, secluded place and we found it. Not a party resort at all :-) The accommodations were very private, clean and well appointed. The staff is very nice a polite. Everyone is on a Belizian pace… very slow. But it's part of the "chillaxing" experience. The beach is very natural with lots of sea grass, so swimming/snorkeling immediately off the beach isn't great, you'll need to kayak off shore. The immediate resort beach is clean and impeccably groomed. However, the adjacent, uninhabited beaches are full of trash, trash and more trash. Not really in the resorts control, but it left an impression… The pool is fantastic with plenty of very comfortable, private lounging space and each room has It's own mini pool / hot tub. The food is good, but a little pricy for the selection, however room service was complimentary, so more chillaxing. After a few days you'll have the menu memorized. I recommend the ceviche, lobster and linguine with shrimp. The dive staff is very knowledgable and friendly and make for a fun experience. The resort is so remote, they offer a complimentary water shuttle to San Pedro, which takes 20 minutes. There, we spent the day in town and rented a golf cart and toured around. We visted a couple of high end resorts, el Secreto is the nicest one. Everything about the place fantastic and would highly recommend.

The ship just dock for couple of hours. But I had fun.

I would rather have eaten the $1000 in cash. I was recommended to El Secreto as a quiet place to impress a my future family-in-law. This was planned to be a very special night, but turned into a tarnishing experience on our vacation. We were stuck there, unattended, for the 2.5hrs each tour is allotted. Our drinks took a minimum 30min to arrive. We ordered 4 surf and turf meals which were not edible. I ordered a $300 bottle of wine to which the "waitress" had no clue how to present, let breathe, or open. Worst off, the wine arrived after 2.5hrs. At the end of the entire meal. Oh and the waitress lied about the currency in which the ticket was printed. The whole ordeal cost me a grand (USD) and it was utterly embarrassing to my future family in law. Now Secreto will call me once a week promising to make it up to me but I get the run around for 20 minutes. This experience has followed me back home to the US. I do not recommend El Secreto to anyone.
