Absolutely awesome food & service at both The Essence restaurant & The M Bar.

Great location and wonderful staff!

I had a great stay. The pool n spa temperatures were perfect. The bed was comfortable and Anthony was very helpful. He went above and beyond with every aspect of my stay.

Big thanks to Thanich and her team for the excellent service and specialty cocktails. Food was amazing — compliments to the chef. M Bar definitely worth checking out, classy and open space with good variety of drinks and food!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay on the executive level, everything about this hotel was wowed from the moment we arrived, there was champagne 🥂 the staff were super friendly and very accomodating, we received wine and a cheese 🧀 platter for our anniversary. Will definitely stay again.

The Marriott hotels in Melbourne and Sydney are only good at charging high rates and nothing els. The rooms are terrible and motel 6 in US is much better!

Great service. Room was massive and they really tried to help at all times. More than one power point in the bedroom, a way to make the room less chilly and Sprite that wasn’t flat would’ve made it perfect. Overall though, very good hotel!

We’ve eaten in the restaurant on a number of occasions and we’ve found the meals superb. You have to try their homemade pasta — Great job Christian! The food and bev staff are wonderfully attentive from William the FOH Manager to his fabulous team; Charlotte, Samantha, Thanich and Jesus. We love visiting the Marriott it’s home away from home with superior service and lovely smiles when you first enter. Clearly their employees enjoy their roles which makes for a very happy and welcoming atmosphere. Warm regards to all.

Wow, what can I sayThe customer service was exceptional, staff where helpful, curtious, and very accommodating, five stars. The rooms where clean tidy and spacious, all room amenities where perfect. What an experience my wife and I are having and had. Marriott Hotels have been exceptional.

Service is 5 stars and the rooms are 3 stars, this the 4 star rating. The service was absolutely amazing. Every employee we came in contact with was warm, welcoming and eager to accommodate every request. Obviously very well managed. I would love be to have given the property a 5 star rating in recognition of the staff, but the rooms are simply not up to international Marriott standards. While the rooms were spotless and tidy, the bed was uncomfortable and the finish out felt very dated.

Nice and clean hotel. Good location. Elite lounge a tad small with plenty of nice food and beverages, and unfortunately too many too noisy Americans (probably not the hotel’s fault ;). Nice but quite small pool, sauna and fitness facilities. Would probably be 4 stars compared to other hotels, but “only” 3 stars for a Marriott hotel.

Attended the Melbourne Marriott Hotel for a work function and was pleasantly surprised by the the finishing of the place. Very welcoming and fancy interior entrance that is not what you would expect walking out of the Melbourne CBD foot traffic mid-morning. The function room was excellent and well furnished. The catering provided was also fantastic, with excellent attention to detail i. E. Presentation and also flavour. I will happily attend further functions if they are held here and will also investigate a potential overnight stay.

I travel a lot for my job. But I can say I have never stayed in a place with such wonderful staff, great rooms, great food and a wonderful location.

Date Night away from the kids. We were both pleasantly surprised by the exceptional service we received as soon as we drove up to Valet. We were greeted with genuine friendliness and utmost courtesy. Offered a glass of champagne whilst we checked in. All staff that passed us in the hall or lobby greeted us with a big hello and a smile. Our room was lovely and the furnishings and fittings were all contemporary and stylish. Upon our return, the lovely Chief Concierge, Mr Anthony S had left us a cheese board with red wine with a thoughtful note. What a night! Comfortable bed, lovely lie in and a beautiful and quite extensive breakfast awaited us downstairs. Staff there were excellent too and we came away promising ourselves to return. Thank you again! This is Melbourne's best kept secret. Price for the whole experience was excellent too!

We stayed recently on Saturday night, for Eeaster, and the experience was excellent. We received complimentary champagne on arrival and the staff were super friendly. The room was modern and a good size.

Excellent location. Great service on arrival & front desk was great. Restaurant staff let the team down a bit. I know it's hard when you are busy but being gruff is not good service.

I came to a magic show the place very good dinner was not so great.

A full service hotel with no shortage of friendly, capable and accommodating staff. Good restaurant food. Excellent gluten free options. Visited for four days of meetings which were very well catered. Parking is pricey but 150 Lonsdale carpark is only a couple of hundred metres away and open 24 hours. Well located and well kept. Secure. Worth considering.

Hands down one of the friendliest and most accommodating staff I have ever had! Literally every person we encountered at this hotel greeted us with a smile and they were all so gracious. Anthony Szostak (chief concierge) went out of his way to ensure our stay was comfortable and as we were traveling with friends on their honeymoon it meant that much more. Even so far as to offer additional pillow toppers on my friends bed to ensure the mattress was soft enough. The hotel is beautiful, clean and everything updated and well maintained and really well staffed. If you're staying in the city I couldn't recommend a better hotel!

My family spent Christmas lunch here at $250 per person and it was very very disappointing. The quality of food wasn’t great. There was no live entertainment. The drinks that were included in the “all you can drink package” were very basic and average quality. The Santa that came was in such a cheap Santa suit (that looked like it was from the $2 shop) and his beard looked so fake my 5 year old asked me “why Santa looked like that? ” Santa was also handing out little gifts to the children from a black RUBBISH bag which looked extremely cheap & tacky for the amount we paid! The table service could’ve been better for the money we spent. Overall all I would never spend a Christmas Day lunch there again and wouldn’t recommend to go here.

Went to the Essence restaurant at Melbourne Marriott Hotel for high tea. A great selection of sandwiches, pies, sweet treats on a 3 tier stand, and a scone with jam and cream. All this came with a glass of sparkling wine and a choice of tea/coffee. Staff were very welcoming and efficient. 6 of us went, using Living Social vouchers, which offered great value for money.

Nice location. Services in the room were good but Room was a bit small as compared to other Marriott.

As always, the Marriot is a guarantee of quality and courtesy in the reception.

Marriott hotels have always liked me, but this is a 10/10 in customer service. I will come back to this hotel the next time I visit Australia.

Not only credit card surcharge but they hit you with an additional fee if you Paypass at your table. Ridiculous! Hadn't been studying my bill carefully enough. Looking for alternative venue for after work drinks. Live sex show a few weeks ago was interesting and uninterrupted by management!

One of the best hotels I've ever stayed at. And that says a lot since I'm a road warrior for work. Dixon in the lounge is the man! And Patrick at the front desk was so friendly and efficient with the rest of the team working in the lobby. I felt like royalty. Actually, I don't think royalty get treated this well.

Great hotel right in the city center! Central to the Melbourne Zoo and withib walking distance of many other sights. Essence on Exhibition is a great restaurant for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. With fitness center, indoor pool, and fresh infused water waiting in the lobby, this hotel is an all around winner!

Got the date night package, with valet parking and wine package it was great. Staff were lovely and very helpful. Room was also great. No view from our room but we don't mind as were locals and only there for a night.

Great location right in the heart of the CBD. Easy walk or tram to most of the city. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Rooms are spacious, though could use more clothing storage. The bed was comfortable, though did get a bit warm in the night. The pool features a large hot tub area and a sauna. The attached gym has all the basic equipment. The executive lounge is comfortable and has a shower for guests coming in early before their room is ready — which was awesome after a long flight. Both the breakfast and the light dinner in the lounge offers a great selection of items.

I'm lifetime Gold with Marriott, and have stayed in a LOT of their hotels all over the world. Generally speaking, Marriott worldwide sets the bar for hospitality exceedingly high, but the service I have received at this property is the top. It isn't flashy or in your face, but the staff without exception is friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. They make you feel welcome from the moment you walk in the door. Best of all, the care and attention shown guests isn't just the result of training or because they "have to" to satisfy the boss. These people clearly enjoy their work and delight in providing service and interacting with guests. In short, they genuinely CARE. Even better, they are empowered. Requests, even unusual ones, are never met with "let me check with the manager, " but simply with a sincere effort to accomplish the goal. I don't get to Melbourne often, but this is my home base whenever I visit.

Decor was nice, waiting staff were super accommodating. I wouldn't order the seafood platter again (despite getting it discounted) the oysters were super fresh… The rest was pretty meh. The dessert was redeeming at least. On the Merritt of the waiting staff I liked it. I hope the other main courses are better than what I had.

My wife, son and I stayed last night. Excellent service on check in and during our stay, from the complimentary glass of champagne on arrival to the lolly bags for our most grateful and willing son. The room was great and the bed very comfy. Buffet breakfast perhaps didn't offer as many dishes as some other hotels like Crown or the Langham, but everything was tasty. The addition of pool toys like noodles and beach balls is fantastic, but the water temperature was a tad cool. The spa and sauna quickly warms you up afterwards! All in all, a fantastic experience with comparable and competitive prices to the other 5-star hotels. Good for families.

After arriving more than 2 hours late (thanks to Melbourne traffic — 2 hours and 10 mins to travel 26 kilometres on the Monash Freeway) for a dinner and show reservation at the Marriott Hotel, and with only 20 mins before the show was due to start, my friend and I were treated wonderfully by the staff when we arrived. Our reservation for dinner was held over for us until after the show. The food and wine were superb, atmosphere was lovely, but most of all the staff made us feel very welcome and special, both upon arrival and whilst dining. Is there any way to give SIX stars? This is my third stay here. Twice in March and April 2016 and now. All the staff in every level of position and employment go well beyond and above the call of duty to make everyone's stay memorable. Yes I do go out of my way to get to know as many of them as possible on a personal level it it makes for a fun and dynamic stay. Many not only recognized me from 11 months ago but they also remembered my name and even some family things we discussed last year. There are now so many to list that I am afraid to because I might forget one or two as I am typing this. Suffice it to say the staff and service is second to none.

The room was lovely but a miscommunication on check in had us arrive for dinner at essence to find all the tables were reserved. If at check in when I said we were going to dine at essence he could have said it is better to reserve a table and I would have so we had to dine elsewhere which was disappointing also the wrong time was giving for the completion of breakfast causing a rush to get food the staff at breakfast were very helpful.

Perfect little hideaway right in the heart of the CBD. Expected pricing for the offer it gives. Valet parking. Continental breakfast (perfect after a night out). Pool and gym. Overall, just a nice relaxed feel.

An excellent hotel on Exhibition street in Melbourne. Being opposite my place of work I have gone to this hotel for lunch an for after work drinks. Excellent service. Highly recommended.

Had buffet lunch with colleague. $20 good price for buffet. Not a lot of hot dishes but very good chicken and fried fish. Cheese was lovely and dessert is divine.

Stayed at the marriott for a romantic get away with the missus. The staff were delightful and the room was magnificent. We planned to go out for dinner and drinks, but the room was so lovely we ordered room service instead, and received a complimentary bottle of wine. Would definitely stay again.

It's a very comfortable place. It looks very well done inside and definitely a place to consider staying at.

We met as a group and had breakfast at the Marriott. Overall the food was generally good quality, a little cold and perhaps been out for too long. Our main complaints where the coffee was machine made and was horid.

This is a point of view as a 14 year old — A bit different Room Large, comfortable beds, and a big tv. I hooked up my PS4 easily, and I managed to play Just Cause 3 without any issues. I had no view, but some rooms have a view. The restaurant This is the best restaurant in a hotel I have ever been to. I had the salmon, with mash and veggies. Best salmon I have ever had. As well, I ordered fries as room service without any issues. Also, right next to Subway and 7/11. So if you need anything basic or a sandwich, it's not that hard to get. Facilities You need to be over 12. But being 14, it’s no drama. The pool is nice, the spa amazing and the gym is great. Wifi 44 mbps down and 45 mbps up. That’s all that needs to be said. Overall Best hotel I have ever stayed at. Everyone was very friendly. 10/10.

Second time I've stayed there… outstanding service… from the minute you walk in to the minute you check out. It's clean, smells great and food and service fantastic. Every single staff member you pass acknowledges you and greets you and nothing is too hard. Will definitely be going back! Special thanks to Thomas, William and Hector for their beautiful service.

I stayed here for a meeting, and the hotel great. The room was updated and large, as well as it was within walking distance to most restaurants. Wi-Fi worked well, but it is paid if you are not a Marriott Rewards member. I deffinitly plan to stay here again when ever I am in Melbourne.

Have stayed here on points a bit too $$$ for a non points stay, for me :-). Rooms are nice and modern. It's very quiet. Staff are very attentive. Felt at home here. Lives up to all that the Marriott brands present. Closest major shops are at QV with plenty of other eating options a stroll away on Lygon St. Parliament station isn't too far way if you are coming by train.

Beautiful boutique hotel. One of nicest similarly realistically priced suites in Melbourne city district. Highly think I will stay again and recommend this hotel to any who visiting and needing quality facility that is reasonably priced, clean, modern and well staffed.

Staff are welcoming and friendly, nothing is too much trouble. We had a suite here, the rooms are like brand new, modern and clean. It was so quiet here too and the bed, pillows and shower were all perfect. Also, Euan a young concierge was particularly helpful and friendly. He is a true asset to this hotel.

Hello second family we love staying with you; being greeted by Daniel or Anthony, sometimes J. C. And then ushered into the welcoming lobby with Sonia, Jovan, Ben or Murray sometimes waiting to pour our sparkling wine whilst we complete the admission forms and share some stories since our last catch up. We are reminded of how we are entering a wonderful world of smiles, chocolates and also gracious hugs. Our room/s are always impeccable as is the food we consume. Our privacy is always respected and any request is always managed. Colin and Bronwyn are only too willing to support us with efficiency and a smile. When it comes time for breakky Bik, Addie and Nicole make sure we are sustained for the day. Thankyou so much Marriott Melbourne.

Food was good, but the neighborhood was ideal for access to some tremendous upscale restaurants. No car? No problem. The Marriott is well positioned in the midst of all three transportation networks at very reasonable prices. When I travel, I love to be catered to. Whether it was just the overall atmosphere of Melbourne, or the hotel itself, the Melbourne Marriott was a fun place to be if you like people. I found myself smiling a lot just being there interacting with the staff. Lots to see and do in and around Melbourne — Great Ocean Rd, Yarra Valley Wineries (which blew me away). And plenty of zoos and sanctuaries for us animal loving aficionados. Good choice for a hotel if you're considering a Melbourne trip.
