Absolutely appalling accommodation, filthy dirty, stains everywhere, chipped, cracked and broken amenities, aircon not working properly & control broken, mess in the halls and carpet absolutely filthy, sheets stained and graffiti on bedhead. It’s a miracle they didn’t have bedbugs!
Stay anywhere but here!

After our flights were cancelled to return home after a weekend away in Melbourne we needed last minute accomodation for a party of 8 adults. We booked into Bell City and upon arrival received excellent service from Ash when checking in… we got a great room rate, delicious buffet breakfast and $50 per room voucher towards dinner which was also amazing and to top it off a midday check out. Not one of us in our group could fault the service or hotel and it’s great value for money. Thanks Bell City!

I left some clothes in the wardrobe which I understand is my fault but I called a couple days later and was told they had them and would send to me as I live interstate. I have since called 6 more times and emailed twice and have been told they are no longer there and there’s no record of them. Lots of money of pretty dresses I desperately wanted back. Surely hotels are frequently returning lost property. Incredibly disappointing, untrustworthy and inconsistent service : (

No bottle of water at all during my stay, the reason was no stock for the bottle of water. I’m dehydrated and not feeling well to go out from the room to buy a water. It’s ridiculous they didn’t provide a water at all. Unacceptable!

Nice hotel. Clean and comfy. Bit outside of everything. Breakfast very good but expensive 29$. Friendly and helpful staff. Would stay again!

The hotel is tidy and all but it can be described at best a ‘wanna-be’ five star due to the lack of proper management regarding services, in-room cleaning which is at a bare minimum and the utter lack of in-room privacy thanks to the thin walls of the hotel rooms. The room walls are so thin and light that I got two complaints from neighbouring rooms just for talking at a medium volume. I have been at Grand Hyatt, Marina Bay Sands and other five star hotels around the world and have never have faced such issues. Is it due to my brown skin color or the lack of proper wall insulation, I truly do not know. P. S — this amazing hotel does not have any service to bring your heavy luggages to your rooms. This is by FAR the worst accomodation I have booked. On the one hand I’m glad it was on ‘sale’, on the other I understand why they are marketing sales so strongly.
The cutlery in the room is dirty, the room has scuff marks all over it, the carpet is loose and lumpy.
You get the feeling you’ve walked into a room where previous occupants have had a out of control night that’s been as far as clean staff can manage, cleaned up.
You can’t get any food like Uber eats delivered to your door, you have to come down to reception and wait in line with people checking in. This is despite being told when checking in of course it would be no problem. The alternative; room service is advised to be busy and over an hour wait.
There are six photos on the wall, they are not put up properly or evenly and tilt.
Most frustrating of all the TV is not set up properly. I can’t get ANY free to air channels they are all paused and distorted without signal.
$110 a night on sale and I can’t even watch TV.
I feel sorry for myself!

Lovely comfortable bed. Nice large room which was very clean. Staff member who checked us in was very polite & helpful. Great value for money. Was quite away from city but one tram & bus ride put us right outside the hotel. I would stay here again.

Located fairly close to the CBD, the room was an upgrade from 'Break free, Bell City'. The view was great, the room was okay and the service was what you would expect. One thing that would have made it a better experience would be if the room temperature was little stable and warm. The room from which I was upgraded had a faulty heating unit and no working phone. Thankfully the panoramic view from the corner suite window was worth it. Over all, it's not the Hilton however I enjoyed my short stay at Manta Bell City.

Very comfortable hotel, bed is very good, room has to provide microwave and refrigerator and tableware, safe, price can also, although there is a free breakfast, but not many selectivity, room cleaning is not good enough, SOAP shampoo does not change every day, bathroom drainage is not good enough, accidentally rampant, around the environment store less, In the evening only supermarkets can stroll, walk more than 10 minutes …

Did not get what I book for. I have uploaded view from my bedroom. However, the staff were friendly, welcoming and very helpful.

This place is fantastic, excellent staff, really friendly, the rooms are so comfy, the bed amazing, sleep so well. The food is to die for, breakfast lunch and dinner all in the Chill Restaurant and bar, the atmosphere makes you feel comfortable and relaxed. Why do I love coming here? Perfection. Simply put. Mantra Bell City is my favorite location. Highly recommend!

Very small rooms with only a queen bed. Shower needed regrouting. Carpet greasy and raised in places with a large burn from a dropped iron. Reception adequate but had not recorded our complimentary parking.

We stayed here for 4 nights travelling from Sydney. No room service available to us as we purchased a "cheaper rate". $30 per day if we wanted a clean up. (We new nothing about this) Parking was available at a cheap rate. I don't call $16 per day cheap parking. Had to walk through car park to the hotel next door to get to the pool. Got there and our room key wouldn't give us access to the pool. Someone had to let us in. We've stayed at other Mantra hotels and never had a problem. Not happy Jan.

First in Best Dressed: We booked over the phone and not on any websites, to get personal service, which is obviously not important as when booking we said it was our wedding anniversary and it would be nice to have a city view. We booked 10 days early and rang back to secure the room two nights before and the staff said they'll lock it in and make a note not to change it! On arrival night, thinking that it wasn't first in best dressed, we went out for the evening and arrived at Bell City at 9.15 pm only to find we had a view over the northern suburbs! Upon entering our room, we rang reception and they said they are very busy and all booked out and I mentioned my phone calls and bookings. They gave no indication that anything was actually noted or put aside for us! And then they said they'd check with the supervisor and get back to us. So we sat in our room for 25 minutes and nothing happened. So we rang back and got another staff member who said no, we can't do anything. Promises, Promises and then lies. Otherwise the room was nice. We saw Parking advertised somewhere for $9 but they charge $16. I complained so they charged for only one of our two nights parking = $16. They don't tell you enough. My son had his wedding reception there and stayed there for his wedding night and they omitted to tell him he could check out at 1.00pm!

Room wasn't clean plus no room service was carried out even had please clean room sign on the door handle, lucky we had extra towels, definitely not using mantra bell city again.

Won a prize here for a night stay. The room was clean, staff was friendly and it had pretty good night view. Toilet was a little small but overall was a great experience. When I asked about the actual price, wasn’t actually too expensive either. Would definitely stay here in future if chance arise.

Service was abysmal. They flag your accommodation if you don't book direct (considering I work for a national company it is far more convenient to organize the entirety of a trip through a corporate travel planner). Thus, I have not received a room clean in the 11 days I have stayed with Mantra Bell City. When I enquired about the estimated cleaning time, I had to hold the line for approximately 10-15 minutes. Parking fee is absurd, might as well park down a side street after finishing a day at work to negate their fee. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and will be informing my employer/employees along with the subsidiary companies to never stay at this location. I will also ask them to potentially reconsider staying at any Mantra affiliated resort in the future as I would assume it is an implicit policy to treat third party bookings with less respect.

I will never stay here again. Fro. The first the room I booked and paid for was not made available to me, I was given a small room which was not very clean. Hairs on the floor in the bathroom, litter under the chairs, the bottom sheet on the bed only covered 3/4 of the mattress and even asking for a sheet to fit the bed it never came. Evidently the manager was coming to the room but never did, too bad. After a couple of days I was upgraded to a better and bigger room like the one I should gave had in the first place. The aircon did not work, asked for service, waited, no-one could help as maintenance were not there on weekends. Luckily I had a couple of batteries and replaced the dead ones in the remote and the thing worked … obviously not part of the service. The carpets are old and fraying, room was not serviced albeit I was only there ten days. Elevators rarely worked and only twice were they both working together. Of all the staff there were three who were helpful, courteous and you friendly. Be careful if staying there, ensure you take a photo of the numerous bottles in the fridge and the items on the tray … I was charged for item not originally there but refused to pay for what I did not have. I was given discounted parking as I was there for a while however I still had to pay for every day even though three days did not park there. All in all for a so called 5 star rating it was very disappointing.

Fantastic experience staying here! Staff were awesome! All facilities you need gym pool laundry room! The pantry sells the most delicious lunch food and cakes! We had a cooker/hob microwave kettle toaster and iron in our room! Pans and cutlery all provided by reception! Fish tacos at the JD pool restaurant are amazing!

I received a great deal at Mantra and found it to be top value, was relieved to find that most of the issues I'd read about in other reviews were relatively minor and didn't detract from the overall quality of my stay. Room size compared to many City Hotels was excellent, kitchenette worked well and and allowed me to prepare my own meals, a real bonus for my 5 day stay. Facilities and staff were both good, great view from Room 643S, location and access to City / MCG via train (Bell Station) and Tram (86 direct to Docklands) was simple. Apart from a few cosmetic issues that come with an older facility, I found Mantra Bell City to be the perfect base for a solo traveler looking to explore Melbourne, would stay again and recommend.

Stayed for couple of nights here. Cozy place with nice views of the city. Has a good, ambient dining area. Enjoyed our stay.

Absolutely love this place, the rooms have a kitchenette so you can have breakfast in your room and even cook for dinner and the bathrooms are a good size.

Been there couple of times. The hotel rooms are good. But the location slightly far away from the city. But don't worry because there is Preston market and convenience store nearby.

Good hotel for the pricing but Wi-Fi costs extra and the receptionist wasn't that friendly…

Shower leaked onto carpet. Paper thin walls. 2 star food.

It is a nice hotel. Gym needs and upgrade and the prices at the cafe are a little steep. But all in all a great hotel.

Ash (Assistant Manager) was exceptionally customer focused and ensured that my expectations were met. Highly recommend the service and politness of the staff.

We stayed here just a single night. Room was neat and tidy. Reception staff were polite and helpful and room price was very competitive.

The room was alright, the bathroom was a bit unclean, no condiments, we had to buy a knife and a pan to cook with as they had the stove top but no pans and only butter knives. I give 3 stars because on our second night I cut myself really badly and had to go to reception for help and the lady was wonderful and very helpful (she clearly knew what she was doing). All of their reception staff are very friendly.

Good location for the price for anyone who enjoys catching trams or trains into town, or having an overnight transit by the airport (s). Reasonably-sized rooms, however lack a bit of maintenance (holes in walls, etc). The glass bathroom doors make toilet-time privacy an issue. Staff were nice. Common utilities like lemon-infused water lacked topping up, so were unfortunately usually empty, particularly when a drink on return to the foyer was much needed.

Surprisingly good considering some of the reviews I've read. The price was cheap too. I stay in a lot of hotels and motels for work. This one was pretty good. The room was good, the staff were good and quite funny, the bed was comfortable, the view was good and the restaurant was great with a decent wine list. The only thing I didn't like was the size of the bathroom and the slow to heat shower with poor water pressure. I will probably stay there again.

Ridiculous hotel with no toothpaste and asked reception clean our room because we found massive ants after we checked in, but they said they couldn't find insecticide. Second day morning before we went out we reminded reception to clean the ants again, and we told to reception they can clean the room, nobody in the room, reception called the room service, but the room still mess and ants still in there when we back, we didn't get any reply for reception. We tried call reception but no one answer the phone, so bad experience from this Mantra hotel.

Staff is in organised and very rude.

My stay was amazing, first experience staying the night in a hotel and felt extremely comfortable and at ease. Was extremely impressed, wished the bathroom was bigger, and actually could have used a bath tub or a spa but other than that AMAZING ☺️☺️☺️

My kids booked weekend away 4 xmas for today. Iv stayed on both sides many times&loved it, until I go 2 check in 2day with my boyfriend of 6months. Apparentlya few yrs ago he got in trouble there (news to me) & I was instantly blacklisted just by association. So embarrasing&dissapointed.

If this hotel was a pizza, it will be gourmet on one side and Domino's on the other It's awesome either way. We've stayed here for 8 months and loved every day of it. Have trouble sleeping? Hit the 24/7 gym & sauna. Want to go out without going out? Hit the great restaurant & bar. Room service was super and the self cooking facilities were great. Also had an awesome snooker lounge to hang out with friends.

The worst hotel I've ever had the displeasure of being in. Terrible service, and some real low lives use the long term accom here. Avoid at all costs.

There has been a bad air conditioning room hot.

I liked nothing, we had a loss in the family and they managed to make that whole week shit by charging us for things we didn't purchase, breaking a brand new 350 dollar coffee machine, the staff are rude and don't clean properly and making us wait 4 hours extra to get a room is very poor, won't be staying there again. A heads up for anyone.

Possibly the worst time I have had staying away, I had several issues. One side of the bed was snapped, leaving the bed on a lean. I asked to have this looked at after the first night, but it was not fixed at all. Bathroom was not clean, hair was in the bottom of the shower. Whilst at reception I overheard another guest complaining about room cleanliness. Shower drain was partially blocked, after a couple of minutes of showering bathroom began to flood. My car park pass although it said it was still valid was cancelled not long after I arrived. The iron was broken and leaking. Cupboard door was falling off the hinges. Also mentioned this, but was not fixed after first night. Room was very noisy due to 3 walls of the double elevator enclosure the making up part of the rooms walls. Would not stay here again, based on my experience there is a real problem with the basic day-to-day tasks simply not getting done which is a shame. Very disappointed. 1 star — I don't ask much in a room, but if the bare essentials are not right it is impossible to have a somewhat pleasant stay.

Enjoyed stay in Ridges. Staff very friendly and helpful. A little attention could be shown to Fixtures in rooms (towel racks, Power point loose etc) but overall very nice. Restaurant very good food and staff excellent special thanks to Adelle on front counter.

The Rydges at Bell City was absolutely fabulous. Great staff, great service. Everything was just absolutely great. I am planning to stay again.

Room was meant to be available at 2.00pm, couldnt get in until 4.30pm, and then the cleaner was still in the room when we walked in. Five bags of garbage were left by our door all night, probly would have been there the next day if I hadnt complained. The suite was advertised as having views over the city, all I could see from our balcony (which was filthy) was the wall of the building Reception gave me 4 drink coupons to use at the Chill Retaurant Bar for the incovenience and the mess which I thought was a token gesture. When I went to use the coupons I found the bar service was so bad I ended up walking out and returning the coupons to reception.

Positive: The Breakfast, the Hotel looks stylish Negative: 1) The Hotelpersonalist is not very helpful, my reservation was Buisinesspartnern here locally booked. A personalized Willkommensmappe I was then also given to our Partner here had to leave, but my reservation they could not find it… After a 26h flight then I had with my phone trying to clarify the Situation. 2) Internet costs extra and is expensive, only cumbersome to get tickets, "strangely enough, " was the smallest card (a month, 2 Gb — very useful for 5 days), supposedly top of out of stock and I should but the big package take — no Concessions. I am then simply later to another staff gone, and lo and behold, of course, there was the smallest card yet — presumably there is a Commission for the sale… 3) The rooms in the North wing, where I unfortunately was directly over a big street and very loud, even with the Internet you can hear even the noise of traffic, fortunately there is the late night, but barely traffic 4) cockroaches!
