Royal Hotel Snake Valley Hotel

I dont usually give a 1 Star but this place earned it so I guess that’s what they get. It’s a waste when you part with your hard earned cash in return for slop. I’m sorry but that’s what it was. If this was my first experience at a country Pub it would have been my last. Thank Goodness it wasn’t because there are so many delightful little country pubs out there and I would never of known what I was missing. If we could turn back time we would speed past and gladly pay the speeding fine over giving this place any of our money. To say they put no effort into their meals would be an understatement. The chips must be fried once daily and left out to go cold and soggy. The schnitzel was burnt and the parma sauce tasted like tomatoes straight out of a tin, there was just no flavour. Their steamed vegetables were so mushy I’m sure they were using the unsold veg from the previous day. I can’t believe this place gets 5 star ratings. I’m thinking they must be paying for them but it just doesn’t make sense since I couldn’t imagine they’d be able to afford it with how quiet they were.

Huge mix up with our booking. Room very outdated and pub meals were so overpriced. Management couldn't have seemed to care. I'm now seeing a refund through the booking agency. Five star ratings are on here because management asked people to. Found this out on their Facebook page. Do not be mislead.

Very popular with locals, but our accommodation reservation was mixed up and the place is a bit tired. Lovely countryside in the area, but no rooms with a view. Food was nice with generous buffet.

Absolutely fantastic place to stay. Showed up earlier than we'd booked for with no dramas, and were met with fantastic service from the rad, friendly staff, super nice locals and delicious meals for good prices. Comfy room, everything we needed was provided and we had a great time. Would stay again in a heartbeat.

Over 7 years of attending this cute country pub. Always a fun family night out! Fantastic friendly staff, most recent at owners are welcoming and accommodating, especially with our two special needs children. I adore the atmosphere, their zest for customer service and fundraising, warm welcoming feel and oh my goodness, the salad and veggie bar is my favorite. If we were no blessed to have family to stay with locally, I would not hesitate a second to utilise the accommodation. Wish it was my local.

Can honestly say that I love this place. The owners and staff are always warm and friendly, and Ive never been disappointed with any meal Ive eaten there — generous serves and always delicious (there's been quite a few of them! ). Its a great place to take a friend for a drink or the family for lunch or dinner. It is also one of the few places in Snake Valley that the community can come together in support of each other. And you don't need to be a local to be welcomed and accepted.

Awesome pub with lovely friendly staff and fantastic meals. Have eaten here many times and have absolutely no complaints. My last meal was a Tyson's special Parma which was delicious. Highly recommend!

Better places around. They're ok but maybe give Smythesdale a shot if you're not desperate.

Beer glass smelt like dirty dish water, but will definitely return and give them another shot. The customer service was average but probably just got them on a bad day. Could of been a one off.

Memorable stay for all the right reasons. Friendly welcoming atmosphere. The rooms are clean & very comfortable. Delicous meals & nice wood fire. Would highly recommend staying in this country hotel.

We stayed the night as we needed somewhere economical, comfortable and close enough to sovereign hill. The modest rooms were perfectly comfortable. The beds were firm and had electric blankets. There was a portable heater in the room. The bed linen was clean and simple… No ugly, old bed spreads that you get in some small town accommodation. No bad smells, everything was clean enough and the walls looked freshly painted. There were some breakfast basics in a small kitchenette, but no option for a proper breakfast as the hotel doesn't open till midday. It would have been nice to have a room with a table and chairs or small lounge for after hours and breakfast. I didn't shower so can't comment on the shared bathroom. It was too cold, but it was clean. All in all, I was surprised they weren't fully booked by the sovereign hill crowd. It was an easy 25 min drive to Ballarat.

Friendly pub awash with characters, rooms here basic but super clean, Great food here with help your self sides, good homely cooking.

Went with a group of elderly for a week day lunch. The service was homely and warm. The fireplace was roaring and there was nothing but praise for the food from every member of the group. This is a genuine country pub delivered with genuine country warmth.

Great place for the whole family to for a meal or a social get together at the bar. The food is excellent and reasonably priced and the staff are friendly and very helpful.
