We stayed one night in a very spacious room, no problem with that at all, service at reception was very good, as was the service in the bar and dining room.
unfortunately the food was the worst we've ever experienced, manufactured rubbish deep fried that ends up as tasteless fatty muck that would send a Biafran running, honestly, we tried to eat it as we were both hungry, but in the finish we went to bed hungry,
at least we're still alive, but l can only put that down to good judgement on our part.
extremely disappointed.

Accommodation very good we enjoyed our stay very clean room. Highly recommend to stay if your looking for somewhere to stay for a couple of nights 😊

We called in the Bale for lunch, very friendly staff, drinks were perfect and the food was the best lunch I’ve had out in a long time. It was fresh and cooked perfectly and tasted yummy.
Prices were good so we will definitely be back.

I enjoyed the little tour the manager gave us, it was a nice touch. The food was great too and it has a good atmosphere. Thanks to the staff!

Attended the bistro tonight with a group of 14. Found a hair in my meal (the chicken was the only thing I had touched on my plate). Was apologised to but told that the chef is bald twice during that conversation. Asked for a refund on my meal and told management no way to be spoken too. Paid bill and left. Realised had also been charged $16 for duck spring rolls that nobody ordered at our table. Will not be returning. Spent over $300 and I WAS a regular. Bistro Attendant was great so thank you Katie but other staff could do with some customer service training.

Just saw a whole family, probably 20+ get absolutely abused by staff (waiter and a manager) all over a meal technicality, even if the customers where wrong (i couldn't hear the full thing) this is no way to treat customer. Other than that, spent about 100$+ on food to reviev not bad quality, definitely not worth its money.

Mate, I just witnessed CUSTOMERS get threatened with a $6, 500 fine from the 2 "Managers" to leave even though the customer was reasonable and in the right, very disgusted but not just with the customer service but also with the disgusting, mostly soggy food and asked for a medium rare steak and got BLUE, almost vomited. Will never ever recommend coming here…

Good place to have a drink but keep to yourself if u say something to the bar staff it goes around the pub not happy.

Ordered a well done steak with veggies and potatoes. I got a steak that was over chared on the outside and still bloody on the inside. I sent it back and received the same steak more charred on the outside and still not properly cooked on the inside the veggies and potatoes were cold. Waste of money and very disappointing. Won’t be returning.

Had a wonderful meal, the staff were attentive and helpful. Great place to meet friends for a meal.

Love having dinner at this place. They have an enclosed playground which is genius when you have young kids who won't sit still. Good food, even for the young ones and great drinks! I will be back for sure.

Went to The Vale with family for a birthday dinner. We were very happy with the friendly and efficient service. Meals were delivered promptly and were delicious. Would highly recommend.

long wait to order food, long wait to receive food.
my steak was horrible, it was over charred on the outside which and it tasted like I was eating charcoal with every bite, the inside of the steak had no flavour what so ever. The corn on the cob was not even cooked and the baked potato was that over cooked that the skin was stuck to the alfoil and was very very bland and flavorless.
My parents who were on the same table as us waited for 25 mins after the wife and I received ours. The manager who was working at the time "Tim" offered what I can only describe was the worst customer service I have ever received from any restaurant I have been to in Australia. He was very unhelpful and, offered no customer service what so ever and did nothing but offer us lies.
the only saving grace was "Pauline", she was very apologetic towards "Tims" poor customer service skills and was very helpful.
based on the long waits, horrible food, and the attitude of "Tim" the manager we will not be returning.

My partner and I just moved here and we love having our date nights every Saturday night. My partners look on his face when he tried the steak was so pleasing, he said it was the best steak he’s ever tasted. We understand it takes some time to cook at times so we don’t get bothered if it takes 30-40 mins for food if they say it’s going to be a wait and it’s busy. We then went to the karaoke bar, we heard there was karaoke every Saturday. I used to run karaoke in Mackay and loved the karaoke here. Everyone was supportive and it was so much fun! We felt so welcomed and it kept my heart to get so much positive comments rather than judging negative ones. Ever since we first tried the vale hotel we go there every Saturday night and we love spending our time together there. Awesome job guys.

Went to dinner with the family, and the waitress was so unhelpful it took for me to walk outside the door just so she can give me the table I asked for, and not to mention upon arrival I waited 5 minutes to be seated because the staff were to busy flapping their gums in the bar area.

Wouldn’t recommend staying there. Rooms very run down and dirty. For $130 per night for an apartment room it was not what we expected.
Thankfully for the lovely receptionist who was very understanding, we were give a full refund and stayed somewhere else.

Great staff and even better food had an amazing night all the staff where helpful and friendly. There was a wait for food but was only due to in being so busy but food was well worth the wait. The manager Jake was very helpful with the wait times any issue we had. Will be back!

The girl taking the orders looked like she didn't want to be there and guess what, she was hopeless. Two of the four orders she took were wrong. One order she came and asked us to pay more because she had done the order wrong, the other order was completely different and so ended up coming out after everyone else had finished. The food wasn't great either. The whole place has become run down and needs some money spent on maintenance. The staff need a kick up the back side or need to be replaced by people who care about what they are doing. The only good one was the guy who was there on his first shift. He was attentive and seemed to care about the monumental mistakes the other girl made. We won't be going back. Ever!

I stay there a lot. They used to have Austar. Sadly not anymore. Still close to shops, banks etc and the hotel attached has a great restaurant.

Good food, fast service and a good family atmosphere. Well worth a look for lunch or dinner.

My partner and I went for dinner tonight hands down the worst feed we have had in a long time nearly $80 with dessert. My partner had the rump and lobster with morney sauce, there was NO sauce, lobster was cold along with the steak. I had the chicken snitzels with garlic prawns prwns and supposedly bacon, No bacon to be found or garlic for that matter the chicken was the size of a large orange and that dry some actual sauce would of been nice. I am so sick of paying good money for shit food!

Went there Thursday night, Will not be returning to this venue again, rissoles and gravy… rissoles were processed meat, veggies were half raw and it was a competition to find the gravy… what an absolute disaster of a meal. Cant even give the place a one star if anything. Half star.

Pretty good, liked the calamari and other foods, affordable too. Nice atmosphere and clean.

Had one of the best nights last night at Karaoke. Thank you to all the wonderful staff at the Vale for reminding me how much fun can be had without having to get blotto (Wish I knew that when I was 18). Every Saturday is Karaoke and I highly recommend it to everyone. It is like one big happy family.

Stayed at the Vale Hotel accommodation — this should not be marketed as a hotel. It is a motel at best. The photos are very deceptive — they show the multi million dollar Reno of the pub across the carpark (of the same name). They however failed to spend a cent on the accommodation. This place hasn't been touched since it was built in 1980 and it shows. Holes in the roof, vents falling out, dirty corridors and stairs. Sheets are clean, but that is about the nicest thing I can say about this place.

Great lunch The 250g rump with ribs was beautiful. Steak was med rare and juicy while the meat just fell off the ribs, combined with the Ceasar salad made for a really nice meal.

5 stars for the quality of meals, pricing and service, you have exceeded expectation.

Just had dinner at the restaurant. The food was nothing special, way too much uncooked onion in the vegetarian pasta. The side ceasae salad that came with my husbands steak looked like it may have been left over from lunch and the chips weren't great. The saving grace was the desserts, the calamari topper and the lovely young girl who looked after us. That girl deserves a pay raise. I went to get my keno tickets checked and an older lady and what looked to be the duty manager ignored me completley. Will not be back.

The accommodation is not fantastic but it's cheap & the rooms are mostly clean. The cleaning staff are lovely and will always accommodate any requests quickly and to the best of their ability. The vale is close to the townsville hospital, a major shopping center, a good variety of take-away stores and a petrol station. The meals at the vale are very good, the staff are friendly and helpful, a pleasant atmosphere for family and a nice play arae for the kiddies. There is a small gaming area & TAB facility.

Great for kids with an air conditioned play area. Pub grub quite separate from gaming area.

I Have been going to the vale for 10 years and will not be back the food was absolutely disgusting the tartare sauce tasted like it was 5 day ago. The carbonara was tasteless the chicken was watery no taste what so ever and I think we got at least one mushroom. The oysters were over cooked and absolutely disgusting was very over sauced! The customer service was ridiculous no manners and absolutely rude couldn't even crack a smile their are heaps of people looking for jobs and you have staff like this. Regretting having lunch here.

Meals were awesome… and the room I got for $90 I was pretty happy with! Will definitly come back!

So decided to go out to dinner for my birthday and I settled on The Vale. Hadn't been there in years and thought somewhere different. Well booking was for 6.30pm and that's when we arrived. Placed looked busy and full so didn't mind having to wait a couple of minutes to be seated. There was one lady serving, so husband waited in line for awhile to order. One person at the drinks counter, so waited awhile there to be served too. Place is busy fair enough so would need to wait a bit for your food. 15 minutes later our cheese n bacon bread came out, but not the garlic bread he had also order. Apparently he had not ordered, even though a son standing with him had heard repeat it twice to her. Strike 1. At 7.45 I had asked if anyone had a receipt, we ordered at 7. It had now been 45 minutes since ordering. Strike 2. At 10 past 8 the eldest son had courteously asked how long our meals would be as it be over an hour since ordering. All of the excuses came out of the book of 'I'm not to blame and I can't help it'. Strike 3. The same lady had come over to inform us that our meals would be 4 — 5 minutes away, which took another 10 after all. Strike 4. Everyone's meals came out warm except my husband who had put the order in. When another waitress had came passed (the same one who served my husband) we asked her nicely where my husbands meal was. She asked what had he order and after telling her 4 times in which she said she could not understand him, she said he did not order that.

I just came here for dinner, oysters were so tiny, you get them bigger in a John west tin from woolies. Ordered a well done steak it was medium. Also the beer battered fish was not eatable. Texture of over cooked chicken. Will never come back. Told the staff about oysters and they didn't care. Said they won't refund or anything. They offered a drink. Very Un happy.

Wow. Food was amazing. Friendly staff that were more than helpful.

I found the food at GRAZIERS was terrible. I ordered the BEEF CHEEKS. The meat was tuff to the extent the I could not chew it. It was full of sinew and gristle. My wife ordered the twice cooked pork belly. It was ok but not restaurant quality. Over all I will not order a meal here again.

Went there one night when a band called Black Powder were performimg, had an awesome night, members of the band very friendly, will be going back next time they play there.

The room is old and could use an up-date, the shower is a potential hazard as the hot water is the cold and the cold water is hot. I'm glad I showered first to warn my children or we would have ended up with some burns. There were very tiny ants all over the kitchen. The first night, some one set off fire works in the car park the second night the neighbours next door were having a party with loud music and screaming teens thankfully the air con drown out the noise. The beds, the fridge, the air con, and the TV were good. All in all I wouldn't take young kids there but for blokes it's Ok.
